Is the practice of girls publicly actioning their virginity on the horizon?

For those like myself who don't know, a whirlwind of media coverage is swirling around a Sacramento State graduate who is auctioning off her virginity. She's using the pseudonym Natalie Dylan for safety reasons, and has announced the decision on the Howard Stern radio show. Got no date, but Bids are already flowing in reaching as high as $275,000.
She said she got the idea from a news story on the Internet about a Peruvian girl who attempted a similar cash out. The girl received an offer for $1.5 million from a Canadian man, but I think she changed her mind.
She said "Once you get past the moral issue, all this is is a girl trying to get through school."
Think about it, soon we'll likely be getting pop-ups promoting virgins in your town.

I think this is more hype than reality. This sounds more like something to be invented by the people who want to promote a return to family values. Has it happened in reality? Maybe, but it isn't common and isn't ever to likely be.

Hype?...Invented?....If this is true then the groundswell of media coverage on the story coming out of Sacramento is going to produce a lotta eggs destined for their faces.

My statement: "soon we'll likely be getting pop-ups promoting virgins in your town" is obviously tongue-in-cheek and wasn't meant to be construed as gospel.

Living in CA and knowing how vibrant and above-ground the "escort" scene is, I wouldn't dismiss this as hype. I bet there are a bunch of guys with money in CA that would compete to pop some hot young babe's cherry and while there is more than zero chance of Law Enforcement intervention, there is much less than 100% chance of Law Enforcement intervention. Nobody cares that much in CA.

Shit, when Dianne Feinstein was mayor of SF years ago, she had a public war with Mitchell Bros O'Farrell theater, which is a very public strip club/brothel. Feinstein was trying to crack down on their activities, so they put on their marquee "For a good time, call.." with every private # they could get for Feinstein - and they were able to get a lot and got the new ones when she changed them.

They're still operating as a public strip club/brothel many years after Feinstein moved on - even after both owners passed away, so they don't even have whatever political connections those guys had. Doesn't matter.

SF isn't COMPLETELY anything goes. Pink Diamond was a strip club that got closed down due to too many shootings just about every fucking weekend. And Market St Cinema was the object of a major crack-down when they let things go to the point that they were letting every crack whore in town work there and they weren't even waiting for guys to set foot inside the door to molest them. They ignored the warnings and were jacked up badly because of it.

But that's pretty much how far things need to go for law enforcement to get involved in that kind of stuff in SF.

They need to get Karl Malden back to clean up The Streets of San Francisco. People had respect for Law and Order when he was there making the city safe.

But didn't SF have a crack down on bath houses in the early '80s when AIDS started showing up in such places (though the federal government was doing very little at the time)? So it's not quite as permissive as it's reputation may lead people to believe. "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? I'm going to play the devil's advocate a bit and argue that girls' virginity have already been up for auctions of sorts for years through the practice of arranged marriage. This is assuming that these daughters (apparently sons' virginity never count) are all virgins until married.

In a way this is also somewhat encouraged through the idea that women should marry men with high social status and lots of money. Are young, fertile women searching around for the best "catch" of a husband not, at least in a way, trying to auction off their bodies?

Anyway, before I push too many buttons (since quite a few members are currently married), I just think women have been using the promise, or just the tease, of their bodies to get their way and/or earn some money for centuries. Prostitution, stripping, porn, modeling, acting, and now auctioning their virginity, they're just using their, ahem, natural talents in the most financially practical ways possible. I did a little searching and according to this article (from 2 years ago, by the way) it is/was being done through the Bunny Ranch in Nevada, so California law probably doesn't apply. For some reason I feel it's creepier being done through a brothel, though apparently eBay wouldn't allow her to do it through their site (assholes!). Maybe there would have been too many requests for additional photos, or they figured nobody would want to pay for those damn shipping charges. "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? Yeah, the widespread outbreak of AIDS produced crackdowns in LA and SF in the bath-houses - luckily!

Las Vegas doesn't have licensed brothels, but it does have a vibrant escort scene similar to CA with very little law enforcement intervention.

I'm sure it happens but I have a hard time believing the ones that go public. For one thing that's prostitution and the last time I checked. It's illegal in most States.

I have a harder time believing that the amount would get as hign as 275,000$ and let alone in the millions. It's not that people who are multi-millionaires or billionaires couldn't afford that amount but if you are that rich then you don't want to pay that much for it. I believe there is a large sex trade Overseas and you can probably get a virgin for significantly less money and you don't need to worry about the police knocking at your door.

Another thing with auctioning your virginity is that you need a lawyer and a doctor. The doctor has to certify that the girl is a virgin and the lawyer because it's a kind of business transaction and we are talking a shit load of money. Long live the Brown Coats.

As far as I know it's happened in the UK a few times over the last few years but rarely gets as far as completion. Wasn't there a case of this on Ebay a few years ago? I can't see it ever becoming more than an occasional novelty, market economics will see to that (the more that offer it, the lower the value - the lower the value the less will offer).

Prostitution isn't illegal in the UK or most of Europe, so I guess that gets rid of the biggest legal issue. (Street soliciting and running a brothel are illegal). Webmaster of StripGameCentral and A Measure of Curiosity.

As an interesting post script to this thread...

I was at Netflix yesterday and happened on a movie that dealt with this subject. Not sure if an auction is included but the losing virginity on the Internet is.

American Virgin, a 2000 movie with Mena Suvari (the hottie from American Beauty) and Bob Hoskins. It's not very well rated so I doubt I'll be watching it soon despite it being available for instant-watch.

Still, it's interesting to see that this subject was being touched on by the movie industry ten years ago. Former PornUsers Senior Administrator

Ahh, Mena Suvari - gorgeous woman with the world's most inexplicable celeb tattoo - what is with this gang-style 13 on her sternum?

Yeah, things can reach that tipping point -- that point of one shooting too many when people say that it really has gone too far.

But seriously, it was interesting to read your post about SF, especially the Mitchell Bros theatre vs. Feinstein.

And how about those Giants? I wanted something new, so I left England for New England.

I agree with you on her looks but I think you meant her tattoos. I wonder what crosses the mind of an up and coming young actress to get so many tattoos? I wonder if these are the reason why she doesn't seem to be doing all that much.

Nah, I knew what I meant.

It's not the number that I find inexplicable - but a gang-style 13 on her sternum - THAT I find inexplicable.

Affirmative, Turbo....Your search is indeed absolutely correct.
However, Since I found the information you're referring to irrelevant and of no use to the point I was making...
namely: A resurgence of media attention recently coming out of California about the case, and my point expressly having to do with the practice possibly taking root and growing into actually auctioning virginity.

Maybe she's trying to get some street creds. Then again she probably saw it somewhere and thought that it looked cool and didn't really research the meaning. Celebrities aren't known for their incredible intellect. Long live the Brown Coats.
