I think cartoons can make just as much money as any other type of movie and in some cases even more money. You aren't limited by age like other types of movies and quite often the animation attarcts the kids but the jokes are designed for adults. Just look at Despicable Me which has already earned 258 millions at the box office. Long live the Brown Coats.

I saw "The Expendables" today - I'd been looking forward to it, was hoping for campy fun. It was even better than I expected - had a light tone, but it had that story element that Stallone likes to use of a good woman challenging him to do the right thing. Mickey Rourke was great as the wise man of the movie. I recommend it to anybody that likes action movies with a strong whiff of "The Dirty Dozen".

My brain has a hard time trying to accept the idea of Mickey Rourke as a wise man. Are you sure it was Mickey Rourke and not somebody who looks like him? Scratch that. I don't know of anybody that looks like Mickey Rourke except Mickey Rourke.

Not even Nicholas Cage.

I just watched the trailer--it looks like a tidal wave of testosterone that fortunately doesn't take itself too seriously. More of a star vehicle for aging action heavyweights who would probably do well to take it out of overdrive every so often. But it's directed by and stars Sylvester Stallone, not to mention Bruce Willis, Jason Straitham, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, Steve Austin, Jet Li, and apparently even has a role with your governor! Only in America.

(It seems like Jean Claude Van Damme would have fit right into this movie as well.) "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? I read a short article that said Jean Claude Van Damme had been asked by Stallone about being in the movie, and that Van Damme had turned Stallone down because Stallone was only offering Van Damme money and the part/character was not interesting to Van Damme. That's what Van Damme was supposed to have said.

I also saw a clip on youtube, where Stallone said he was considering many different actors for the movie, including Forest Whitaker and Ben Kingsley.

Ben Kingsley would seem a stretch, unless you've seen Sexy Beast. The character he played in that movie was a hard-boiled criminal, and I've never seen any other movie where he came across as a psychotic killer. Not a great movie, but interesting, a real noir-type film that should have gotten wider exposure.

The Expendables, on the other hand, is supposed to be a fun ride, and is definitely not a noir-type film.

Edit01: In Lucky Number Slevin, Ben Kingsley plays a character who is supposed to be a hard-boiled criminal. But the movie is much more light-hearted than Sexy Beast, in my opinion. And even though Kingsley is supposed to be cruel and vicious and everything bad, the effect is more that he's an actor who is supposed to be a vicious criminal, and he doesn't really do anything to show how vicious he is, in Lucky Number Slevin.

In Sexy Beast, Kingsley really comes across as menacing. You think this is one bastard you want to totally avoid. Edited on Aug 16, 2010, 01:12am

Great news on upcoming movies:

2 of the biggiest, most anticipated films of the year will open this Friday.

1. Vampires Suck, the real story on vampires, and why the Twilight movies were sugar-coated pap instead of giving us the down and dirty on what vampires really do.

2. Piranha 3D. A movie that explodes on the silver screen, with flesh-eating monsters that will gobble and gorge on the innocent and guilty alike.

Who knows, I might be forced to see The Expendables, even though I was never a fan of Stallone.

I saw the trailer and it made me laugh like crazy. My fear is that the trailer is everything that's funny in the movie. I'll wait until I hear some reviews before I bother. One very important note is that you have to have seen the first 2 Twilight movies or this movie will make no sense.

I still enjoy watching the original Piranha. I don't know if this one will do well. The eD already doesn't inspire me to see it because of it. Long live the Brown Coats.

Watching How To Train Your Dragon in 3D gave me a bad experience, because I could not get used to wearing the 3D glasses. That's just me, because very few people seem bothered by the 3D glasses.

So I will be skipping Piranha 3D. The higher ticket price (an extra $3-4), doesn't make the movie more attractive, either.

The early reviews that I read on Vampires Suck indicate the movie will probably bomb, if the critics have any impact. But audiences often pay little attention to the critics. Word of mouth is far more important than critics' reviews.

But predicting box office for a movie is risky business. The fans at comic con in San Diego were supposed to go crazy over Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. The critics and Yahoo users gave the movie high marks, yet it opened this weekend at #5, with $10.5 million. So the movie bombed.

I also saw an article mentioning the same thing--it seemed to Van Damme that it was an offer of serious money over any sort of serious role. But then the article also said this attitude doesn't explain Van Damme's 2009 film, "Universal Soldier: Regeneration" (which also stars Dolph Lundgren).

Stallone is already talking sequel for The Expendables. Because the movie had the best opening of his career, and it really was a shot in the arm for him.

I've seen recent pictures of his arms--the last thing he needs is a shot in them! "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? Leaked "Vampires Suck" hits 100,000 downloads (Reuters)
Source: Reuters 2 hours, 11 minutes ago

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - An unfinished copy of "Vampires Suck," Fox's the hotly anticipated parody of "Twilight" scheduled to hit U.S. theaters Wednesday, has now been downloaded more than 100,000 times since its leak more than a month ago, according to TorrentFreak.

Two years ago, of course, Fox was bitten when a rough copy of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" leaked online a month before hitting theaters. Reports suggested that more than one million people viewed at least part of the work print. The incident garnered national attention, a rebuke from Fox's upper management, and eventually, a belated arrest. Despite the hubbub, it was never revealed exactly how the unfinished film ended up online (it also wasn't clear how the piracy influenced box office sales).

Now faced with another major leak, Fox's legal department has quietly become more aggressive, sending takedown requests to torrent sites and Google. They likely want to avoid the fate of the 2004 parody film "Soul Plane," which prompted an FBI investigation after pirated copies flooded the black market weeks before its release.

"Soul Plane" was cited as one of the first Hollywood films to be impacted by digital piracy. Will pirates suck the life out of "Vampires Suck?" Fox is publicly downplaying down the leak, saying the incident occurred a month ago and there isn't anything new to report.

Sexual activity will be added to the Avatar theatrical re-release. How can James Cameron, the director, shamelessly pollute the film's purity in an effort to sell more tickets and increase the box office of this movie?

'Avatar' Re-Release Includes Alien Sex Scene

James Cameron restores an intimate scene between Jake and Naytiri for the epic's end of the summer re-release

By William Yelles
TheWrap.com

When "Avatar" returns to theaters in 3-D and 3-D IMAX for a limited engagement Aug. 27, among the eight minutes of new bonus footage is a scene that has had fanboys buzzing for months.

"It's been restored, every last frame of it. Seriously," director James Cameron tells MTV News. However, "I would say, just so that we correctly manage people's expectations, it does not change our rating at all. I would call it more of an alien foreplay scene. It's not like they're ripping their clothes off and going at it."

Naytiri (Zoe Saldana) and Jake's (Sam Worthington) lovemaking is described as "the ultimate intimacy" in the screenplay. "They come together into a kiss and sink down on the bed of moss, and ripples of light spread out around them."

Cameron is also said to be considering shooting the two sequels to "Avatar" back-to-back since the movies would involve so much motion capture and special effects work. He also claims to be working on a novelization of the first film.

I don't mind the glasses too much but they can be very annoying to some and frankly I think the old 3D thing is more a cash grab than anything else. I think How to Train your Dragon would have been just as good in 2D.

The reviews aren't the reason that I'll wait until I've read a few comments on Rotten Tomatoes to see Vampire Sucks. Hollywood can't do a remake so why should they be able to make a decent parody. The last truly funny one was probably Scary Movie 4 and that's going back to 2006.
I have a bad feeling that what we've seen on Tv is all the funny stuff there is. This is from the group that made Epic Movie, Meet the Spartans and Disater Movie. Now we know how great all of these classics were.

I'm not going to condem Scott Pilgrim vs the World to an early death just yet. I really want to see it and I'd add that I'll see it over the Expendables. It's not like any of the movies that came out this past weekend have any bragging rights since the highest grossing movie was the Expandables and they only made 34 millions. Long live the Brown Coats.

I hardly ever visit Rotten Tomatoes. I used to go there occassionally years ago, but got out of the habit of checking in. So I don't know the spread that movie ratings get.

But 3% approval rating for Vampires Suck seems like an enormously low rating. I wonder how bad the movie can be to deserve a rating like that.

There are movies so bad that they sometimes achieve a cult fan base that love to watch them. I wonder if Vampires Suck will fall into that category.

But 3% approval rating? The trailer alone should have put it higher than that.

I don't know if Vampire Sucks will suck as much as Furry Vengeance but to give you an idea. Furry only got a 7% favorable review rating and they earned 32 million at the box office. The movie cost 35 million to make and that doesn't include marketing and so forth. I actually had high hopes or Vampire but that's before I found out that it's from th people that have made a string of hawful spoofs. I don't need much in my movies to be entertained but a spoof requires a level of inteligence and I haven't seen any in the previous work these guys have made.

The movie has to make most of it's money this weekend because it certainly won't make any after that. On the plus isde. It only cost 20 million to make so they don't have to sell as many tickets as other bombs. Long live the Brown Coats.

Vampires Suck only cost $20 million. I remember when a million dollars was a lot of money. So I guess $20 million for a movie is chicken feed. But I sure could have a happy time on $20 million. Or even $10 million.

I think 20 millions for this movie is 19,999,999.00$ more than they should have spent but knowing Holywoods ability to see a winning movie and gamble on it then it could have been much worse. I just checked and it's all ready made 19 millions at the box office so what do I know? Long live the Brown Coats.

Interesting article on how an ultra low-cost movie can be marketed.

A few points from the article:
MTV just made a slasher movie for $250,000-$300,000.
They don't plan a theatrical release because the cost of a theatrical release is too high. They are trying to maximize potential profits from the film.
So they will be going for TV distribution, digital distribution (Internet sales), international rights, syndication revenue. There could also be an unrated DVD and download-to-own distribution down the line.

"Paranormal Activity" (a different, low-budget film) cost an estimated $11,000 and went on to gross nearly $108 million at the U.S. box office.

There are a very few low-budget films that make a large amount of money, but those are the exceptions.

MTV slasher pic gets social-media campaign (Reuters)
Source: Reuters 35 minutes ago

NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - MTV is looking for a bit of the same magic that corporate sibling Paramount had with "Paranormal Activity" as it experiments with new distribution and marketing methods in the digital age.

The cable network has teamed with digital information service and marketer Eventful to launch a social media campaign for its forthcoming indie slasher film "Savage County," which it originally had planned to release as a Web series. MTV still doesn't plan to release it in theaters, but it has added a potential TV run to the mix that would come in October, in time for Halloween.

To help raise awareness and create a sense of investment in the 80-minute film, MTV is working with Eventful to allow folks to "demand" to see the movie at http://eventful.com/competitions/savagecounty2010. If at least 100,000 people want it, MTV2 will air the movie, according to a spokesman (the website simply says "MTV").

The campaign quietly kicked off about two weeks ago, and the film had received just over 64,000 "demands" as of Tuesday night.

"We're still in a world where movie and TV seem like the A+ level platforms, so we wanted to add the TV element," said David Gale, executive vp of MTV new media and executive producer of "Savage County." "Theatrical is the one and only platform we'll forgo, and that's by design. Costs of distributing films are very high. However, this is a low-cost production, and we think we can recoup the cost and then some" in alternative ways.

Beyond selling ads around the film's potential TV and digital distribution, MTV is looking to sell international rights and bring in syndication revenue. Gale also eyes an unrated DVD and download-to-own distribution down the line.

"Savage County," by untested director David Harris, is about a group of teens who collide with their town's dark past when a prank gone wrong makes them the target of a family of bloodthirsty killers.

Unlike with much of today's Hollywood superhero or book-based fare, "there is no built-in audience, because this is not a known franchise," Gale said. "The online voting seemed like a cool way to get people engaged to see it."

The film cost $250,000-$300,000 to make. "Paranormal Activity" cost an estimated $11,000 and went on to gross nearly $108 million at the U.S. box office.

"Paranormal Activity" also used Eventful's "Demand It" feature in a couple of ways. Eventually, 1 million demands gave the green light for the film's nationwide release.

Jordan Glazier, CEO of Eventful, said his firm started moving into the film and TV space within the past 18 months. Nearly 16 million people use Eventful to find out about film and music events and the like. More than 3 million of them have identified themselves as being interested in horror films, which allows for targeting. "We help identify people who are passionate about something and instill in them a sense of participation and ownership," Glazier said.

James Cameron admits to being a money grubbing vampire. Does not say when he became a vampire, but it was probably before the current vampire trend, because he's the kind of guy who starts trends instead of following them.

Also talks about sequels to Avatar, and why the first Avatar will be in theaters tomorrow Friday with a few minutes more of expanded film (to make more money, of course, because the billions in box office and the additional billions from other sales is never enough for these money-hungry Hollywood moguls.

Avatar is a fantastic film, worth the admission price to a 3D theater. Or you can watch it on DVD.

A Minute With: James Cameron talking new "Avatar" (Reuters)
Source: Reuters 4 hours, 50 minutes ago

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - When "Titanic" director James Cameron released his film "Avatar" last year, there were not as many theaters equipped with 3D equipment to screen the 3D version as he would have liked.

So, on Friday, film studio 20th Century Fox is releasing an "Avatar: Special Edition" version of the biggest blockbuster of all time ($2.7 billion in global ticket sales) exclusively in Imax 3D theaters and venues equipped with digital 3D.

Cameron spoke to Reuters about the nine minutes of new film on the "special edition," the movie's success, and whether movies or science is his favored pursuit.

Q: Why a new one? The first was pretty good.

A: "There are a couple of factors. There's footage I think people would be interested in. I don't want to completely reinvent the movie and turn it into something it's not. It's really more an embellishment; it's a fuller experience.

"The other factor is I think people want to see 'Avatar' in movie theaters. That's just my instinct. This all came about because when "Alice in Wonderland" came out, they had booked all the Imax 3D screens. We were still doing well, still selling out ... but we lost all those screens in one night. So, we knew there was still a market for people seeing the film."

Q: Many people, me included, thought, 'they already made $2.7 billion! How much more do they want?' Money grubbers?'"

A: "Yeah, we are just money grubbing vampires. (smiles) No, I think making money is called good business. At least, in this country it still is. And two, it's a side-effect of giving people what they want. If we're correct and this is what people want, then we've done a humanitarian service (laughs)."

Q: Right, Hollywood does perform humanitarian services.

A: "Sometimes. (laughs again) Sometimes it can, but it's usually just liberal guilt...

"No, it's like an illuminated manuscript, there's just more to it. I also want to encourage people to remember the movie in 3D on the big screen. And this will be the last hurrah ... It'll disappear from big screens -- other than an occasional Imax may want to book it -- for 10 years, 20 years, maybe forever."

Q: So, the new footage, what are people going to see?

A: "We got different kinds of stuff. Some of it little things, 10-, 15-, 30-second pops that just show up here and there where if you've seen the movie, you'll ask yourself, 'did I see that before, or is that new.'

"Then, there are going to be things like a big action scene where they hunt these herd animals that didn't even exist in the first movie because we'd cut them out. There are new creatures, a big flight scene, almost like a Buffalo hunt. I think it's one of the top visual scenes in the film.

"There's an emotional scene that plays out at the end where Tsu'tey is dying and there's a very emotional scene with Jake and Neytiri. Everybody thought I was crazy when I took it out. I did it for pace and tempo, but I was playing it pretty conservative. I was concerned about eye fatigue on a 2-hour and 40-minute film. I was concerned about sensory overload...

"We never got much criticism about length. I was expecting a lot. I was expecting at least critics to say, 'really good film' or 'pretty good film, but too long,' but we didn't get much of that. It seemed like we had permission to go longer."

Q: So, you and Fox have the two top grossing films of all time. Can you now get about anything you want from Fox?

A: "Do they listen to me more, now? Probably not, if they weren't going to listen to me after 'Titanic,' they're not going to listen to me now, any more or any less."

Q: You're doing another 'Avatar' film. Is there a third?

A: "The next script will be essentially two scripts, and I don't know if we'll shoot it together or shoot it separately. We'll release it separately, obviously.

"If that works, there will probably be another one, but at that point, I probably won't be directing them. I do want to do the second and probably the third film myself just because it's so much a part of me and my philosophy and ideas."

Q: Beyond movies, you've become a bona fide expert on deep underwater exploration. When all is said and done, what do you want to be remembered for -- big movies or exploration?

A: "What goes on the tombstone?" (laughs)

Q: Well, without having to ask it that way, yes.

A: "I'm satisfied with 'innovator' because it requires innovation to do all this deep ocean exploration. We're building lights, cameras, robotics, submersibles, fiber optic systems, and I love all that stuff. I love imagining something, building it, and making it work in the ocean...

"On the filmmaking side, there's the innovation of how you make the movie and there's the innovation of what the movie is, meaning the story, the characters, the creation of a world, the imagination required for that. I love all that stuff. The problem for me is task managing in such a way that I don't get so focused on one that I forget about doing the other."

Right. Because we all remember hearing how Fox was going to pull the plug on this movie when the budget was getting higher and higher. The fact is that even with his track record. No studio would have given him carte blanche on his Avatar movie except Fox. They probably don't listen to him more because I can't help but think that for all his genious. He's an Ass and an arrogant one at that. That doesn't stop me from watching his movies but I tend to avoid hearing things about James Cameron in large part because he's a very talendted filmaker. I just don't think that makes him a great man. Long live the Brown Coats.

I think genious is probably a bit strong, after all he is just a glorified action filmmaker. I'll grant that he has made some decent action movies, but to me he is just a high-class Bruckheimer. Bunny Lebowski: I'll suck your cock for a thousand dollars.
Brandt: Ah hahahahaha! Wonderful woman. We're all, we're all very fond of her. Very free-spirited.

No matter what I might think of him as a human being. I still say that he's a genius filmmaker. Although I know where you were going with your analogy. Bruckeimer is a producer and not a director but lets compare their work.
Bruckeimer has been responsible for many movies from Top Gun to Prince of Persia without forgetting Pirates of the Caribbean or National treasure. Of these only Pirates has managed to make 2 sequels.

Now lets take a look at some James work. The Terminator created a new kind of charatcter and has spawned 4 movies and a TV show. Aliens took an existing idea and improved on the original movie which in turn have spawned 2 othr sequels. The abyss was an original idea and required some incredible talent since it was all filmed underwater. although it didn't spawn any sequels. It's success opened the door to quite a few straight to DVD knock off's. True Lies is why there are many spy movies made today with a plotline involving one of the member of a married couple as an undercover spy. I don't think Titanic is agreat film. It was a gigantic money maing one but I think many other directors could have done the same. Avatar is again genius at work. The story isn't very original but if you compare Avatar with any of the Star wars prequel. Then you can see where a genius like Cameron was able to use CGI to create a real world full of wonder and Lucas used CGI to sell toys. Long live the Brown Coats.

YouTube eyes pay-per-view films
Source: The Hollywood Reporter 4 hours, 52 minutes ago

Google's YouTube video service is in talks with Hollywood studios to launch a streaming pay-per-view movie service by year's end.

The Financial Times reported that the service is expected to launch in the U.S. and then get rolled out globally. The move would put YouTube into more direct competition with Apple and others, such as Hulu and Netflix, as players try to become the preferred destination for distribution of content in the digital age.

Hollywood seems intrigued by the idea of YouTube's big reach, according to the FT report.
It said newer film titles would cost about $5 on the planned on-demand streaming service.

The news of the planned YouTube film service launch comes after Google top executives wooed studios and guilds during a chat with reporters on the sidelines of Herb Allen's annual Sun Valley media mogul gathering in July.

Roger Corman was, of course, the king of low-budget movies.

The original "Little Shop of Horrors" for instance, was entirely shot on locations that were built for another film. Corman asked the people involved in the other film - "Hey, can I get in there and make a movie quickly before these sets are destroyed?" They said "yes" and he got to make movie and pay $0.00 for his sets.

And he made an entertaining little movie too. That was the real secret of Corman's success, in my opinion. He could actually make entertaining movies.

I'm looking forward to the 3d "Resident Evil" movie coming out soon. That series has been a lot of fun.

Sort of off-topic, or maybe not.

Who says porn ain't art? If some rapper can "sing" a song saying "Fuck you" to some ex-girlfriend, and call it art, then the porno I look at, especially the softcore variety, can certainly be called art.

Edit01: I haven't actually heard the rap song yet, because I'm not really into rap. I'm more into visual softcore art.

Cee Lo says f-bomb song is 'art'
AP

By MESFIN FEKADU, Associated Press Writer Mesfin Fekadu, Associated Press Writer – 1 hr 49 mins ago

NEW YORK – Cee Lo's expletive-laden song has been criticized for being in poor taste, but the musician says it's actually a work of art.

"What I've tried to accomplish, like, is making art products ... so I still believe that (the song) can be classified as art because it's an original piece and the edge and alternative is there, and the integrity is intact," he said in an interview last week.

The song, about a gold-digging ex, is titled "(Expletive) You" and he drops 16 f-bombs in just 3 1/2 minutes over a sweet-sounding, retro groove. The current video is a colorful stream of the song's lyrics and its been viewed more than 3.7 million times in the last 11 days on the singer's YouTube page. An official video will be released this week and the song will appear on Cee Lo's album "The Lady Killer," out on Dec. 7.

Though the jam has gotten rave reviews, it's also had its share of criticism. Dan Isett, the director of public policy for the Parents Television Council, said in a statement that the song "is just the latest example of an entertainment industry bent on racing to the bottom of the barrel."

But Cee Lo said he was trying to elevate music with the song, and it's something that the music industry does not do enough.

"The system does not, you know, advocate art so to speak, but it does package and promote products and product placement and there's a definitive difference between the two, art and product," he said. "I have yet to sit down and try to write something for the sake of radio. I just never done it, not consciously."

Still, there will be a radio-friendly version of the viral hit: The mildly titled "Forget You" will hit airwaves soon, though Cee Lo says that wasn't the initial plan.

"It wasn't like we were looking for it to be a radio hit of some sort. It was only until a short time after that we considered doing a clean version just in case," he said.

Cee Lo is best-known as one-half of the Grammy-winning duo Gnarls Barkley, who had the instant classic "Crazy." He first appeared on the music scene in 1995 with the Southern hip-hop group Goodie Mob.

Cee Lo calls the success of his latest song "a miracle of some sort." Although he may have lofty views of its artistic merit, he's also aware that it's just a dose of naughtiness too.

"I get to be bad a little bit so that's what was fun about it. It's quite a bit of mischief in that song, so we weren't taking ourselves too seriously," he said.

In October, Cee Lo will host Fuse TV's "Lay It Down," an interview and performance-based show he calls "more intimate (and) off the record."

She's been getting naked on film since her early teenage years; ever seen "Return to the Blue Lagoon"? I think she was about fourteen when it was shot, though be aware if you are looking for it--for the cinematography of course, not the nudity!--I think it has been reformatted into an even wider aspect ratio so as not to show her bare under-18 breasts. I gotta admit, even in a non-adult, PG-13 film, that's where I start to feel just a little uncomfortable...so there's always "Resident Evil" and I'm in the clear! "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? I never saw "Blue Lagoon" or "Return to the Blue Lagoon" that I can remember.

But I did see "Paradise" and "Fast Times at Ridgmont High" with Phoebe Cates, who was lovely, adorable, and topless in both films. She was probably around 18 when those movies were shot.

I don't recall much, if any, nudity in the Resident Evil movies. They are mainly action/science fiction/game-based movies. But I really enjoy seeing Milla Jovovich on the screen: she is lovely, and for a female action star, believable. In spite of my attraction, I wouldn't want her beating up on me.

Mila also did a topless scene for Chaplin in 92. She was born in 75 so she appeared nude at 16 and 17. Of course she was a model before that, so I don't think nudity was a rarity for her.

I miss Phoebe. I classify her in that very rare place of honor reserved for performers that retire at the peak of their careers and never look back. Paradise was a bad knock off of the Blue Lagoon movie but a naked Pheobe made it well worth seeing. Man that Kevin Kline is one lucky bastard. Long live the Brown Coats.

Every single Resident Evil movie so far has featured nudity by Milla; one advantage of a fashion models turned actresses is that they are rarely prudish about nudity. The first Resident Evil actually featured an infamous "twat shot" (Milla's own words from the DVD commentary) though it was only a few frames and almost not noticeable. Mainly her movies focus on her endearing (in my opinion) but astonishingly long nipples. She and Bai Ling have that section of the market poked into a corner.

Milla's most nudity saturated film to date is the rather terrible .45 - the only reason to see it is the copious nudity.

Return to Blue Lagoon's DVD "censoring" only applies to one topless scene and it was due to the ridiculous decision to crop a high quality 4:3 copy into 16:9 (giving the editors the choice of showing her breasts or her face) rather than tracking down the original 1.85:1 ratio theatrical release.

At any rate, if you are looking for nice quality nude pics of the lovely Ms. Jovovich, check out a nude set she did for Purple magazine as a sort of "back to work" announcement after the pregnancy during which she packed on an admirable (for baby health) but whopping 62 lbs.! Being a workaholic (and having a personal trainer that cooked her meals) she was back to her toned-muscle, pre-pregnancy weight of 130 in a mere 8 months. This is the rather fantastic result. The man was a genius on how to make simple movies for shoe string budgets that still made profit and were actually fun to watch. Here is my list of my favorites that he directed: Teenage caveman with Robert Vaughn, Little shop of horror with Jack Nicholson, The raven with Jack Nicholson, Vincent Price, Peter Lorre and Boris Karloff, Deathsport with David Carradine, Battle Beyond the Stars with Richard Thomas and Frankenstein Unbound with John Hurt.

Of course that's nothing compared to the movies he produced. Long live the Brown Coats.

I must be blind or something, but when I watch Milla Jovovich onscreen, I focus on her face and great shape, and I'm not even looking for her nudity. Maybe that's why her onscreen nudity doesn't stick out in my mind.

But that's a great short pictorial of the lovely nude Milla Jovovich: http://www.buzz-me-baby.com/milla-jovovi...urple-magazine-1888/

Many thanks, Toadsith. Milla just comes across as a totally gorgeous female. And she actually has a mind, as well.

My pleasure

Milla is a woman of many talents (model, singer, actress, et cetera). I'm looking forward to the upcoming Resident Evil release, even if the last movie was quite rough to get through. I wish they'd bring back the director of the 2nd film as that was by far my favorite. "I'm not a number, I'm a free man!"

I noticed it! Of course my vision was better back then...oh, memories.

I almost think the filmmakers did that just to screw with the video game crowd that was watching. After two hours of undead insanity and what must be the mother of all corporate screw ups (thanks for nothing, Umbrella, Inc.) it's nice to get a quick glimpse of the Milla we all love and know--the undressed one! And it was nice to know that she survived all that horror and mayhem. Very uplifting. Almost makes you look forward to a zombie uprising...

Man, she knows how to take on zombies and have a child virtually unscathed! What can she not do? The weight loss really isn't that impossible--many 'normal' women do it without a personal trainer and cook--but the lack of stretch marks is what looks so damn good. It's kind of hard to just exercise those things away (in fact, some body builders get them if they bulk up quickly enough). "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? pat362, I wasn't saying Cameron was a bad filmmaker, he certainly has made some good movies. Although I don't really consider the number of sequels any indication whatsoever of quality. I was just saying that I don't know that he is necessarily a theatrical genius. Probably just that I am biased against action movies - I'd take Wes Andersen, the Coens, Paul Thomas Anderson, even Tarantino and to some extent Wachowski over him as modern filmmakers. I've always thought Cameron was like Lucas, overrated. Perhaps that's just me!

Although, I guess he gave us Jessica Alba, so I can call him a genious in that respect... Bunny Lebowski: I'll suck your cock for a thousand dollars.
Brandt: Ah hahahahaha! Wonderful woman. We're all, we're all very fond of her. Very free-spirited.

Slutty, I think you probably have a lot of company when you don't rank James Cameron among the greatest filmmakers of all time.

The producer of Piranha 3D appears to be in your camp. Below is an article where the Piranha 3D producer disses James Cameron because Cameron criticized the Piranha 3D movie.

"Piranha" producer bites back at James Cameron (Reuters)
Source: Reuters 1 hour, 32 minutes ago

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Producer Mark Canton is coming back swinging at James Cameron after the "Avatar" director insulted his new "Piranha" sequel.

In a Vanity Fair interview that hit the web earlier this week, Cameron dissed "Piranha 3D," which he briefly worked on: "I worked on Piranha 2 (sic) for a few days and got fired off of it; I don't put it on my official filmography. So there's no sort of fond connection for me whatsoever.

"In fact, I would go even farther and say that ... I tend almost never to throw other films under the bus, but that is exactly an example of what we should not be doing in 3D. Because it just cheapens the medium and reminds you of the bad 3D horror films from the 70s and 80s, like 'Friday the 13th' 3D.'" (The film's actual name was Friday the 13th Part 3.")

Sniped back Canton Tuesday, "Cameron consistently celebrates himself out as though he is a team of one. His comments are ridiculous, self-serving and insulting to those of us who are not caught up in serving his ego and his rhetoric."

He also challenged Cameron to watch the movie on the big screen.

"On opening weekend (August 20-22), I was in a Los Angeles theater with a number of today's great filmmakers including J.J. Abrams ("Star Trek"), who actually had nothing short of the fabulous, fun 3D experience that the movie provides," Canton said. Edited on Sep 01, 2010, 03:02am

Cameron is nothing if not a pretentious ass. TMZ had a clip of him in an airport right after Avatar came out. Some guy was complimenting him on the movie and Cameron's first reaction was to tell the guy, "Get away from me!"

The exchange went on for a while and got worse from there, ending with Cameron driving away while the guy screams at him what a shitty person he is and how much his movie sucked.

Ahhh, James Cameron - making friends wherever he goes.

OFF TOPIC: Actors can get a little crazy at times.

Actor stabs ex-girlfriend more than 20 times, then claims he thought, because it was dark, that he was trying to fight off the ex-girlfriend's current boyfriend.

You would think the actor could afford to hire a better script-writer, one who could come up with a better story.

I mean, after stabbing his ex-girlfriend 3 times, and hearing her scream, it seems unreasonable that he would keep stabbing her another 17 times, while still thinking the girl was a boy. And before he started stabbing with the knife, he said her name 3 times, while hiding the knife behind his back.

The actor's lawyer claims it was self-defense, because the actor was trying to defend himself against the ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend (who apparently wasn't even present during the stabbing).

Stabbing Details Emerge at Trial of 40-Year-Old Virgin Actor

Stabbing Details Emerge at Trial of 40-Year-Old Virgin Actor

Shelley Malil, an actor best known for playing an electronics-store clerk in The 40-Year-Old Virgin, calmly walked up to his ex-girlfriend Kendra Beebe in her backyard two years ago, leaned in as if to hug her, then stabbed her repeatedly, Beebe testified Tuesday in Malil's trial for attempted murder.

"I felt a primal, instinctual, animal fear," Beebe told a jury in Vista, Calif., reports the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Beebe said Malil had one hand behind his back as he approached. "He said, 'Kendra, Kendra, Kendra.' … I saw a flash of silver, and he goes bang, bang, bang," she said, showing the jury how he stabbed her in the torso three times.

Beebe, 38, was stabbed more than 20 times on that night in August 2008. She suffered a punctured lung and other injuries but survived.

Malil, 45, has pleaded not guilty to charges of premeditated attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and residential burglary. He could get 21 years to life in prison if convicted.

Beebe was socializing with another man, a local musician named David Maldonado, at the time of the alleged attack. She said she had broken up with Malil and that he had seemed agitated in the days beforehand.

The actor's lawyer has said that in dark of the patio, Malil mistakenly thought he was fighting off Maldonado.

See were going to have to disagree because he would have been a genius if he had given us a Naked Jessica Alba. As it is we were teased and have waited years to see more. The man was able to get Linda Hamilton, Kate Winslet, Mary Elisabeth Mastantonio to go topless and Jamie Lee Curtis to do one hell of a great striptease. Would it have been so hard to get a quick topless scene out of Jessica?

As for his status as a genius filmaker. I concur that he is only if you're into sci/fi. There are far far better filmakers at telling human stories and all the people you named are in that category.

I do not consider George Lucas to be anything except a man that had an idea who other people were able to tell. If you have seen the 3 Star wars prequel then you must watch this guys review of the first 2 movies. I guarantee you that you will piss yourself and will never use the word genius and Goerge Lucas in the same sentence. Be advised the guy has a weird sense of humour.

Well, it was a show on Fox, what could he really do? But you are right, genious definitely would require nudity in this case, its not like he found a great actress!

Report: Affleck admits Joaquin Phoenix doc a fake

1 hr 14 mins ago

Associated Press

NEW YORK – Casey Affleck is admitting to what many critics suspected all along: His documentary about Joaquin Phoenix was a fake.

The film, "I'm Still Here," followed Phoenix as he announced he was retiring from acting and launching a rap career.

The "Walk the Line" star grew doughy and disheveled, and he famously made an awkward appearance on David Letterman's show.

Affleck, who's Phoenix's brother-in-law and the film's director, now tells The New York Times that the whole thing was an act, calling it "the performance of his career." Affleck says he even faked home movies of Phoenix as a child.

But he insists he never meant to trick anyone, and rather was dabbling in "gonzo filmmaking."

Some critics called it a fascinating look at celebrity. Others assumed it was all staged.

Even if gonzo sex is all fake it's certainly a lot less creepy (and nowhere near as depressing) as this Joaquin/Casey experiment. How long has this charade been going on? Two years? Why is it these "performances" or pieces of "art" always turn out to be such utter wastes of time? "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? I don't intend to see the Joaquin/Casey documentary when it comes out. I haven't even seen the episode of the David Letterman show where Joaquin made his famous appearance, though I did read it was supposed to be bizarre.

Letterman has admittedly had some odd guest experiences over his nearly thirty years in late night television. In the late '80s Crispin Glover (actor who played Marty McFly's dad in "Back to the Future") nearly kicked him in the face as part of a character he was playing for a film he was promoting. It's on YouTube somewhere and it is strange. Also Harmony Korine (screenwriter/director) was on in the mid '90s and acted as if he was on some hard drugs (and I don't think that ever turned out to be an act).

I don't watch much TV--I'll occasionally watch something online after I hear about it in the news or from a friend--but Letterman seems to be pretty blunt with most guests. I saw a clip where he had on Nicole Ritchie who announced she was pregnant and he immediately asked "So, do you know who the father is?" "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? A foreign substance is introduced into our precious bodily fluids without the knowledge of the individual. Certainly without any choice. That's the way your hardcore Commie works." - Gen. Jack D.
