Burned out.....making reviews

It's weird, it's funny, it's strange.....or?

I'm burned out making reviews

I realized that reading another thread, where this input comes from Toadsith:
"When I was actively doing reviews...."

Been a member of quite a few sites, lately.....but words to reviews don't come so easy, any more. Most appears to be repetitions, if anything.

Love the links some cools stuff and funny.

I have thought the same time to time Denner and I wait and do them up after awhile when the mood hits sometimes. I have a few reviews not done and did some last week and paused from a few before. I personally want to give my best shot at giving information and some sites as you said as just same old same old.
Sometimes I will look at the reviews before me, and try and be creative if it was recent. I may not include what they do and make it my own. I hear ya though, I think this time of year does it for some I know I get porn bored when the weather changes and I have more time for porn and then get burned out watching and reviewing.

Probably doesn't help but I think we all go through different times like you are talking about. I think is why some take breaks or do other hobby's and come back.

I guess it could be said with any hobby after awhile it could seem repetitious?

Although unworthy, I have to sympathize with you on this, my friend -- I mean, what with but a fraction of the reviews you've churned out, as well as other regulars, I too find it hard to discipline myself to set aside a time to give a review the attention it should get.
Although I purchase far fewer subscriptions, I do eventually post a reviews on all of them, albeit find it so easy to put off.
I read your reviews, and it's all too evident you pour over doing the best job on them you can muster. I marvel over your's and the other regular's comprehensive efforts on our behalf.
Be assured, denner, your hard work is paying off, and I think I speak for all my fellow members in expressing my heartfelt gratitude for the success your reviews have garnered.

Most definitely some of the best reviews I read are of your Denner. Since 2007

I find little to like in porn in recent times, so I can sympathise with your 'burn out' on it.

It can even get tiresome ranting.

I'm also in the same boat. It's so bad that I sometime lose my membership before I get around to actually writing the review. I'm working on one now which I should have done sometime over the weekend and I may have a good chunk of anotehr finished sometime next week. Long live the Brown Coats.

I'm even more of a burnout than Denner, having written my most "recent" review several months earlier than his.

Doesn't mean I won't write another again in the future, but it got to a point where I didn't have it in me to write them.

I suppose I could try analyzing why, but I don't think it's always a good idea to ask, as it implies a certain lack of acceptance of the change. I'd rather just let it be what it is. You know, why fight it? Who'd win?

Oh, hey, I know why! There were no PUey Awards last holiday season! Yeah, THAT'S why!
I wanted something new, so I left England for New England.

I've given it some thought about whether or not I'm burnt out on reviews, too.

Let's see... I've done 27 reviews since 2007. I guess that's what happens when you basically join the same 4 or 5 sites over and over again. I don't see too many sites making radical changes that would warrant a new review. Then there are sites where I've joined but can't see doing a review because I couldn't add anything of value to the reviews already up on here.

I've come to the conclusion that I'm not burnt out - I'm just in a rut. Happily so, but a rut nonetheless.

Advice for Denner:
Don't sweat it. Take a break. Don't feel compelled to write reviews and just sit back and enjoy the forum. When something does come along that strikes you as review-worthy, you'll know it and you'll write one. Sarcasm is a body's natural defense against stupidity.

Maybe we should just start writing a group porn book. Everyone gets a chapter. If it ain't grits, it must be a Yankee.

I also tend to join the same sites all the time and rarely do another review. The exceptions are when my last review is a year or older and the site has done some changes or if there was a more recent review which I didn't agree with. Long live the Brown Coats.

Denner, I hope this passes soon and you get your mojo back.

I do agree that sometimes writing reviews can seem like a chore. I can't explain why, but my recent reviews of Naughty America and Brazzers took forever to write because I just couldn't muster the energy to do it. But I think part of the problem was that I also had four memberships on the go at the time and figured my computer time was better spent downloading the porn I paid for rather than writing about it.

But since I do actually like writing reviews I eventually get around to it. I like to feel like I'm contributing here and since so many of the memberships I take are repeats that I like to review the new sites I join to contribute to the information.

I have recently started doing something that is making writing reviews easier, if not any quicker. I've always written my reviews in MS Word and then paste them into the PU page, so now when I join a new site I create a review doc immediately and if I find something I really like or really don't like I make a note of it. If I think something might be some useful information I add it to the doc. That way, when I do finally sit down to write a draft review a lot of ideas are already there - I just need to flsh them out.

I hope your burn-out passes soon!

Denner, I can only agree with the others. For me your reviews, comments and opinions are amongst the best and most important on here. You are one of the "flagship" original members, and the place would not be the same without you.

It's simple, take a break from reviewing until you feel you want to do it again. Regulars (and semi regulars like myself), would rather take the time and get it right than just churn one out. You don't want to do a review because you want it to be of a high standard like your others. It's only a hobby but we take it seriously. IMO, that's the way it should be, and makes the place what it is. Edited on Nov 19, 2012, 07:56pm
