I have preface a bit first: I'm for just letting reviewers update their existing reviews. But I've felt the same way about wanting to know which reviews have been updated. I think that on the main page at PU, we should have a section listing "updated" reviews in addition to the other (already existing) section for the spankin' brand "new" ones. We wouldn't have to "showcase" the latest updated review on the front page as we do the latest "new" one, though. (That might be annoying. Or funny, since you might get a different one every time you hit F5.) There's got to be a webmaster with the eyes rolling about now. But it would be helpful. ;) I wanted something new, so I left England for New England. | |

It actually has occurred within the initial 30-day limit, but it can be managed, cognitively speaking. I've gotten replies to reviews, then edited in response to them, sometimes even pointing out who said what in the replies. I even mentioned Khan once that way in an edit to a review. So even the 30-day limit doesn't always work with the "linear" time concept of review --> replies. And I don't think it has to. It's simpler to just allow the reviewer to update an existing review at any time and have a time stamp on it stating "last edited on X date." In the replies section, just have a notice stating that reviews may be edited even after there are replies to it. After all, it's already and unavoidably true now because of 1. the 30-day period, and 2. the always editable (but shorter) follow-up section. And I think the shorter follow-ups are just as taxing on the mind. At TBP, when I read them, I always find myself scrolling up and down to compare what was said earlier with what was said later. More stuff is just as much a problem as new or different stuff is going to be. I wanted something new, so I left England for New England. | |

About being sure that the disk is not damaged, I've yet to master the "Vulcan Disk Probe" -- applying a finger grip to the device and divining its technological state of health. So I just full format -- though it helps to start with an empty stomach. Pizza and beer should be somehow involved. I wanted something new, so I left England for New England. | |

Yes, as JD1961 pointed out, there's a quick option and a "full" option, I believe it's called. I did the "full" formatting and I wish I could tell you why. I just vaguely remember "quick" formatting floppies (see, it has been A WHILE) and not liking the results. To find out if it's NTFS, right click on drive's icon, choose "properties," and then under the "general" tab, look at "file system" (the second or third line of info). At least that's what I get. I got a Western Digital MyBook Premium ES Edition, 500GB, 3 months ago. It came formatted in FAT32, so I first had to reformat it to NTFS, which took the better part of three hours, but it was worth it. (Had a BAD experience with FAT32 on another drive, so I don't recommend that file system if you're only going to use the drive with a PC and not with a Mac.) It's sitting here not more than 18 inches from me, and it's so quiet I can't hear it at all except when I'm using it. It got mine for about $150 from Amazon. Khan and jd1961 recommended it to me, too. I've been very happy with it. I wanted something new, so I left England for New England. | |

You know, jd, the first XXX movie I ever saw starred the incomparable Annette Haven, too. It was called "Black Silk Stockings" and it was also at a theatre. For beauty and smoldering sensuality, I doubt I'll ever see anyone like her. As many have said in the polls and reviews as well, porn has become too predictable and formulaic. I watch new releases of the same old toy play and facials with my eyes half-closed. Porn has created its own "mainstream" of cookie-cutter, ticky-tacky more-of-the-same. And I remember when "anal" sex started coming out as some new "big thing," like a fast-food chain puts out a "new" burger that's really just the same burger but with one little thing different about it. Does the average person really have such an aversion to creativity? Porn with the sensibilities of the '70's with the current better technology -- that would be something to consider, if it's even possible, since we do live in a different time now. But I'm not going to dis the idea too quickly, either. I really enjoyed the "little Johnny" paragraph, btw. His "fuck yeah!" doesn't sound anything like Annette screaming "FUCK!" during the projector scene in (correct me if I'm wrong) "Centerspread Girls." This is why I love these discussions: there's always something new to learn. Hell, I'd never even heard of Naomi Russell, but I've just had a look and ... oh my! Makes a man glad to be alive! Agreed about MetArt, it's one of the best and most consistent of the fanny flaunters. In fact, when I go in, I always first scan for the latest choice ass shots. I'm picky so what I'm after doesn't come every day, but more often than at most! TorridArt has a lot of great ass focus, though it's not as good as MetArt in updates or quality. I doubt they'd double their business, but we'd need good evidence to support either your claim or mine. Without it, it's just speculation. What I've learned is to keep track of recurring memberships and to cancel them at least 5 days before they recur. I always record the site, the join date, the price (and whether it was a discount through TBP or Rabbit's), AND the billing company (and the URL for that if I don't know it already). And the UsePass, of course. So I almost never forget to cancel a recurring membership. I bookmark nearly every site I subscribe to, and I've also gotten into the habit of adding the membership termination date to the site name in the bookmark. It's a little time spent which saves me from wondering when it's going to end. And when I cancel, I always record the confirmation number, if there is one. One thing that does annoy me are sites that list a higher price for a non-recurring monthly membership. Sometimes it's BS, because you can cancel the lower-priced recurring membership before it ends. I have a laundry list of recommendations ... and rants! Will try to keep it all in this post. May have to edit (add) more later. 1. Tours: Show us precisely what we are buying. Photo and video sizes change over time on some sites, so provide all of the details, such as "Currently 200 photosets at 1200 pixels. 23 photosets at 2000 pixels." Don't just say "Hi Rez," as that means NOTHING by itself. Give the pixel resolutions of the photos (e.g., 72 dpi) and the bitdepths of the videos. Let us view gallery thumbs, not just one pic of each gallery. Europornstars does this, and it's great! DigitalDesire is doing a limited version of this now. Videos should have lots of vidcaps, and of course no DRM. 2. Layout and navigation: It should be simple, intuitive and user-friendly. Have a calendar of updates and a model index; both should be FULLY available in the tour, too! 3. Webmastering: Be professional. Make sure everything works (thumbs, enlargements, zips, etc.) before posting for members or visitors to access. It's amazing how many sites don't follow this simple and obvious rule. X'd out thumbs, "not ready; check back later," etc. are irritating. Just this past week, I saw plenty of this kind of nonsense on various sites. Wish I could say, "Oh, sorry! My credit card payment isn't quite ready yet! Please check back later." 4. File names: Keep them reasonably short, yet distinct, such as Allison104hi.jpg. I don't care for file names that extend into the next congressional district. 5. Photos: Mininum small size of 1600px and large size of 4000px. Good lighting, color, and sharpness. Forget black and white, sepia, heavy shadows or other "artistic" treatments! We don't want art! We want porn! And I don't know how many times I've given up on a gallery because certain images were at least partially blurry. Inexcusable! Thumbs should be at least 100 pixels, as Toadsith said. I like sites that give thumb viewing size options. And have an option to view all thumbs on one page. Babelicious, 1byday, and FemJoy do this. It's great! And the damn thumbs should show what's in the picture, not just part of it! Who likes clicking pic after pic, wondering, "What's really here?" DUHHHhhh! Put all of the photos of one shoot in ONE gallery! I hate piecemealing! Watermarks should NEVER be overlayed anywhere on the model, not even by a single pixel! (Watermarks are like car alarms: They don't really serve their intended purpose; they just annoy everyone else.) As Toadsith said, none at all is best. To deal with piracy problems, BodyInMind seems to have a solution: They embed your ISP info in every image that gets downloaded. Cropping off any part of a model except for the upper thighs (about 4 body inches below the butt) is unacceptable. And why have the model clenching her hands to her butt in every photograph where she's showing it? Is it about to take off somewhere on its own volition? Cliches I've seen more than enough of: Angel wings, outside in the snow, holding an empty picture frame and looking through it and sticking her ass out of it, bent over looking from the between the legs, holding lingerie (etc.) between the teeth, tossing or "slingshotting" panties at the camera, lollipops, smeared-on foodstuffs or garage grime or sand, waving "bye-bye." Other peeves: Misoriented thumbs and pics (should be "landscape" but is turned 90 degrees on its side!); sunglasses, hats, and fishnets that never come off; grass blades that upstage the model; flies that have landed on the girl's ass; small pets, horses and other fauna (I'm an animal lover, but not in my porn!); and of course, ugly tats and peircings. How about a site that nearly did get requested for a listing? It's a rather unusual tale in my experience. I'd found this site called top-erotic, which had a lot of exclusive content and some of the babes were really hot. The pics were large as in beyond 3000px usually. The babes included some I'd never seen, plus Amandine (seen at Nakedby, HegreArt, etc.), Nella (as at ClubNella and plenty of other sites), and a few others. But near the end of my membership, it suddenly disappeared! Fortunately for me, I'd gotten practically everything I'd wanted from it, so it was not-so-unfortunate in time circumstances. I've always wondered what happened to it. Web searches produced no leads other than that the domain name is up for sale. At least I didn't ask for it to be listed before it suddenly vanished. I looked at them. The photography might be too amateurish, and there's too much darkness in quite a few of the samples. These things turn me away. Plus, the "Sandy" one looks as though it could be a non-nude site. And then there's the missing 2257 declaration (though I surely doubt that Tatiana is underage). A softcore photo site that guarantees great ass shots in every photoset. In every photoset (100-150 photos) there would be shots of the model standing and also lying face down, top of head to upper thighs (cropped about 4 body inches south of the cheek lines), amorously looking directly back, laying on a couch, a floor, a bed, or a table. Every image would be available at 1600 and 4000 pixels and have NO blurriness and would have great lighting, resolution, and color balance. There wouldn't be idiotic cropping of the arms, the girl's head, or her butt cheeks. The watermark, if any, would be out of the goddamn way! And of course the models would all be hot and NONE of them would have tatoos. And it would update every day and cost $99 for a year's subscription. And the server would be quick, and of course there would be zips. And NO toys, NO lesbian, NO b/g, and no videos. I think I've described my dream site. Call it assalways. Another site that wouldn't be listed at TBP or PU is adultlabs. It sells photosets to the some of the sites that we subscribe to, and some of them are pretty expensive. A lot of the girls are Russian, and there's gay stuff on it, too. But if you become familiar with what adultlabs is selling, you can tell whether a site that "retails" one of its photosets is 1. reducing the image quality, 2. reducing the largest image size, 3. taking out pics, 4. piecemealing the pics over time, and 5. adding an annoying watermark. There are small pic previews of entire galleries, there too, so you can see what should be in a set as part of making a decision to join a site -- since most sites don't offer free previews of entire photosets. Khan's right that an active site should be listed with TBP and PU, but I've seen a couple of odd cases or "'tweeners." One is sagestyle.net (don't forget the w's at the start). This site has been in the works, and has had a home page for something like two years at least (can't recall exactly). I found out about it from Mindy Vega's site. Notes of caution: First, it's not ready yet. Second, when I go there, my virus software always tells me that it has detected and removed a potentially malicious script. But from what the site says, it's coming fairly soon. Sage Style is a photographer you might know from Danni or Penthouse. And two years ago or so, there were preview pics and it looked all-exclusive with a lot of hot and well-known models. Anyway, I'm keeping an eye on it. It sure won't come too soon! The other site, which won't be listed because it's in French, is topmiss. It's at least mostly exclusive, but I haven't been able to join it since last July. It has some great photos (and some that don't impress me, too), but no zips -- zut alors! And it's in Euros, so it's a costly one these days for us living on the US dollar. Oh, well. C'est la vie! I think it would probably be MetArt, as it offers the most of the kind of photo content that I like for the price. I've had at least two year-long subscriptions. There are three photo sizes ranging from 1024 pixels to the very large between 3000 and 5000 pixels, with 3 to 5 photosets a day, and they usually post about 6 at the beginning of each month.
