Chaturbate is a camming website that seemingly is dominated mostly by cams with origins from Russia and Colombia. The models, for the most part, are reasonable, intractable, and general good sports when it comes to doing things on their tip menus or if something can be negotiated through the private messaging system associated with the room. However, be weary of some rooms that have a tendency to only gouge you for tokens, guilt tripping, and the prevalence of bots/scams that always seem to find their way into the lobbies.
Generally, my experience with the site is good to great. Customer service will respond to you in an acceptable timeframe, and will work with you when it comes to some of the "unruly" types of models that find their way on there. One thing I never quite understood was the Russian model dominance that seems to take over most of the suggested cams to view. And they never seem to really be all that truthful with their location with claiming to be anywhere buy Russia. I have encountered plenty of models that will ban you from their rooms if you don't tip enough or don't have deep enough pockets or if you don't respond to their PMs in a fast enough manner. Which is odd, and every knows that they have to make their meals somehow, but it is kind of brutal when you think about it. A model would rather destroy a potential money bridge before it happens? But, these are few and far between from my experience.

I never thought I’d see the day where I would sample a cam site! Part of it, for me at least, was that I rarely had any time to explore this niche in the adult industry. Thanks to the pandemic, I’ve been working from home and it has given me some leeway to sample a bit of this.
I think it is fair to say that an advantage I bring to writing site reviews for “traditional” adult sites is that I have a lot of experience with those. I have been subscribing to porn sites for over 30 years. That gives me something to benchmark a site against. I don’t have that level of experience with cam sites.
For the uninitiated like me, cam sites are a popular way to have safe sexual interaction with women from around the world. Rabbits Cams is a large site with thousands of models online at seemingly any time you want to chat. No matter what time of day or what day of the week I checked the site there always seem to be a lot of activity. A bonus for us here at PU is that the site is owned by our friends at Rabbits Reviews so we’re helping them out even while we’re having fun.
As with so many other adult sites, there is a broad range of models. It’s fair to say that the range here is even broader. Just about any age group, ethnicity or body type is available to interact with. Most of the models range between 20 and 40 years old, though there are some who are older.
When you click on a model, you see rates for a private session. If there is something you want her to do, you should ask her before you go private. Some end the session if you request something she does not like to do or even hear about. Others can join in a private session.
Gold shows are for a fixed time and a requested minimum. These are pretty much an introduction to the model, but sometimes they will do as you ask for extra tips. Some models get pushy with asking for tips, so don’t be surprised. Most shows are five minutes or under but are only about three dollars.
Some models offer a block price, where you can book, for example, 15 minutes at a 5% discounted rate. If you go exclusive, the rate is generally a lot higher. Models are from all around the world, but the countries with the biggest representation are the US, the UK, the Philippines, Colombia and Spain. A problem with many cam models is that their English is not great. Some use a cell phone or tablet to help with translation, but during a show don’t expect much chatting.
Some of the most interesting models are porn stars. There are 217 listed but only a few at any one time. There are some current stars, such as Ani Black Fox, Jynx Maze and Roxy Rae. One thing I really liked seeing was that there are many stars who have retired from mainstream work that participate here. Dana DeArmond, Sarah Shevon, Tera Patrick, Nina Hartley, Mary Carey, Eva Angelina, Lexi Belle, Christy Canyon and Amber Lynn all make appearances.
Porn stars are generally $10 per minute and many are a LOT more. It is easy to spend $100, $200 or even much more. Some porn stars have a minimum.
There is no way to sort by price for Gold Shows, Private or Exclusive sessions. You find out the prices when you enter the model’s room. Some models have rates as low as 49 cents a minute and most are under $3 per minute. Models that offer BDSM, sex shows or lesbian ones, role play or insertions etc. charge a lot more. Some models put on a great session and are inexpensive and some that cost multiples of the others’ rates are not as interesting. The cheaper rates are generally newer models, who don’t yet have a following.
Most models use HD, but quite a few do not. You can sort by HD shows.
There are some men who have shows and there are even some TS models. Most of the men appear to be geared towards a gay audience.

As a newbie to cam sites, it was better than I expected. I went in with a low expectation and was surprised at the high level of interaction that was available with the models. Bottom Line:
I have started liking cam sites just over the last few years. I admit, I usually am just cheap about it and just watch whatever the model is willing to do without tips. That's one thing that makes this cam site different for me. There's not a tip menu that says you have to pay X amount of credits to get the model naked.
Their credits system makes logical sense which is unusual for a cam site. If you pay 25 Euros you get ... 25 credits. Most cam sites have you pay 25 dollars or Euros and they give you 250 to 2,500 credits and you feel like you got a great deal until you find out it takes 5,000 credits to get the model naked.
That is a focus of this review. Each model's cam has her price for private show in the bottom corner of her cam. I've seen some as cheap as 2 credits per minute. That equals out to a 12 minute private show for 25 Euros. That's pretty cheap compared to most cam sites.
You also can purchase recorded cam shows. Some of these are free too. The prices do vary greatly. I bought a 41 minute one for 5 credits. Right beside it was a 12 minute one that was 50 credits.
Continuing on the professional feel of the site, it's not like Chaturbate where you have 10,000 people sending a message in the chat box that says, "Show your ASS!" every 5 seconds. It seems more balanced here. The other viewers are respectful and the models seem to really enjoy themselves. I haven't seen one get mad. Most of them will give you a little flash if you ask nicely. Some of them will go completely nude.

I've slowly fallen out of love with MFC as I discover different cam sites.
My biggest problems with MFC are that it is the most expensive (60 tokens per minute for a solo show) yet offers the least in that it is only softcore.
By comparison I have enjoyed a sloppy BJ and facial show for 12 tokens a minute on Chaturbate.
MFC has at least 1000 models available at any one time. Many are Colombian but most seem to have a decent grasp of English and there are also plenty of American and European models too.
The quality varies greatly; there are some absolute stunners on there, but there is also a lot of chaff to sort though. You can favourite the models you like though and get notifications (both on site and by email) when they come online. The filters and previews of available models is also excellent.

You can also do private shows for 60 tokens a minute. The show will be recorded and will be saved to your account. This is very expensive, particularly as even in private you cannot have hardcore.

MFC is a good site, but in my opinion compares poorly to other cam sites; it is only softcore, more expensive and the site itself is quite dated. You will normally find me chatting on Chaturbate nowadays.

Too many "unhappy endings" to paid performances -- about 50% of my sessions have been disappointing over three years. Many models on LJ simply don't do the things their profiles state. Ive been on My Free Cams for a couple of years now, but joined Chaturbate to broaden my horizons and really love how it offers something different.
The biggest difference is that its not just girls, but guys, transexuals and most importantly COUPLES who can chat.
This is banned on MFC, so on CB you get a lot of live hardcore action ranging from blowjobs to threesomes and everything in between. I have to say some of the models talents are incredible and could hold their own against the pros.
The interface is similar to MFC in that you can filter by region, however it doesnt automatically refresh as it does on MFC, and the thumbnail update frequency isnt as good. However, one huge advantage over MFC is the followed models tab which shows thumbnails for models who are online that you follow. This makes it so much easier to browse than MFC.
Once in the rooms there are a few differences. Models can set chosen members as moderators if they wish. This means they can get on with the show rather than have to moderate too. Another difference is that models have certain plug-ins that help them run a room. These include tools to keep track of targets, tip jars, crazy ticket shows where you can buy tokens to see a show when it is hidden etc. Many of these tools mean it can be more expensive than MFC if you arent someone who normally tips, but I think the pros outweigh the cons here.
Another difference is that models can set their private cam rates. This is generally a good thing in that most are cheaper-per-minute that MFC. Ive seen some models charge as little as 18tpm, and typically the most expensive is 60tpm which is the same as MFC. I have seen a couple of models charge more, though.
One big negative is that the model can also choose whether members can record private shows. This leaves one huge benefit of privates in the hands of models. When you go to start a private, it will tell you their rate and whether you can save the show or not.
All models I have encountered are polite and willing. Like MFC there can sometimes be bit of a language barrier, but its nothing that use of animated GIF emojis cant overcome! The members on CB seem a lot less respectful than on MFC, however, and seem a lot more inclined to bark orders/instructions at models - and this is despite moderators who can mute and/or boot members out of rooms.
Overall I think I prefer Chaturbate to My Free Cams, although MFCs advantage is the sheer number of models. The interface is more refined, the content is more varied as it includes hardcore, the plug-ins models can use really make a difference and overall it is better value than MFC.

Pros:
The site has some excellent features and some great models. It is relatively easy to "give gold" (i.e., tip), and unlike other sites, the mechanism is automated with timers and counters for "gold shows". Video is very clear and so is audio when available. No serious lag issues.
Cons:
For some reason, I got banned from the system without warning. That caused my favorites to disappear as well as private emails sent with video links. I didn't know I was banned, so I simply restarted the session and saw that everything had disappeared (emails and favorites), but was being directed from a secondary site so I thought that may have been the norm. Anyway, come to find out that they not only banned me, the blocked my credit card from all other payment processors. I still have no idea what my violation was-- I was tipping regularly, and being respectful, and hadn't had time to decline any charges. Nothing from their customer service to explain- just a "see ya you're banned forever how can I help you further?" email.
Bottom Line:

Why is this good? No I am not into blow jobs, but what I am into are exhibitionist women--and there are a lot here! The overall quality of the video feed is very good (for models with nice cams and high bandwidth). Another nice feature of the site is the tokens/tips are managed by programs that models can customize. This means that models spend more time playing/chatting and less time using a calculator or asking what the count is. They can also sell "tickets" to shows, set up tipping games, and set "goals" on the fly. Very intuitive all around and the programmers are adding new features almost every month.
In short, the "feel" of Chaturbate is impressive. True MFC has the premium models, but most are not "real" like they are on Chaturbate. Also, with all the other features they make available (e.g. mods) the experience has the potential to be the best on the internet.
The major downsides are the hoards of people in some rooms (which makes it near difficult to chat) and the fact that the billing companies are not as well known. I had an issue buying tokens, so I just didn't (and missed a good ticket show because of it!). I think that a PayPal option or CCbill would resolve this. Finally, the site operators should try to revamp the layout/graphics a bit. Its too bland and a good graphical overhaul would give this site the shine it deserves.
Bottom Line: Look for Chaturbate to compete more and more with MyFreeCams. I say this because the amount of tipping/private shows has increased dramatically over the last year...this tells me that I am not the only one straying from MFC more and more each moth looking for something more exciting than hoards of solo girls (which can get old).
Definitely worth your time if you are a video voyeur and like to chat with real models--tokens always help.

The webmasters at the site instituted a new ban on several practices that hurt the site IMO. 1-No one is allowed to cam outside for any reason. 2-No fisting or "big" toys. This means that I must lower my overall score (from a the original 91).
Some of the most exciting shows were outside! Several models (who had made "camming" outside their thing) have left as a result of the new rules. Also, some of the models who used big toys have left.
I understand enforcing rules to protect models, but their strict enforcement undermines the freedom of the site that I had come to like like so much (and what made it noticeably different from MFC). Now it appears the site is converging toward the MFC autocratic model. This is my first cam site. As people have said before, its an addictive concept but if you do have self-control it should be a fairly inexpensive way to enjoy some pretty hot talent.
There is a huge mix of models, and although its personal preference, about 15% are really hot, 30% are good looking, 25% pretty average, 15% not really to my taste and 15% being pretty ugly.
The homepage displays all available models as profile pics, but you can toggle onto live cam preview mode which is a great feature and makes it easy to jump into a room that suits your immediate taste.
You can filter what models you view, too you can filter by region (eg, Asia, South America, USA, etc) and how the models are sorted.
You can watch all cams as a free member, although most models mute basic/free members meaning you cant chat.
CAMSHOW FORMATS
The majority of models follow a pretty simple principle of flashing for tips, working towards various targets such as topless, nude, masturbation/toys or cumshow.
Many models try different and fun ways of getting members to tip such as clearing a whiteboard of various token amounts to go nude, a lucky dip whereby you tip an amount and behind a card will be an action the model performs, strip poker etc etc.
Some models will do the same format with every show, some will mix it up.
TIPPING CUSTOMS
You can be a freeloader on MFC, but you have to be careful. You can only really get away with being a freeloader in a busier room where people are tipping. In moderately busy rooms, its generally fine if youre not asking the model to do too much. If you go into a quieter room, the model will probably be pleading for tips. Tokens are a maximum of $0.10 each. Typical tip amounts are:
10 tokens is probably the least you can tip without being stingy
50 is generally a typical amount for a tit-flash
50-10 is typical for a pussy flash
The amount for models going topless or nude varies too much to even summarise, but the lower the camscore, generally the lower the target (or at least, more flexible).
Other things models will often accept tips for are Skype shows, adding them as a friend on MFC, even giving you their phone number. If privates are open, theyll often expect a specified amount of tips before going private.
A lot of models offer videos, often hardcore, for tokens. Hang around in the room before buying just to make sure the model isnt offering a special discount (most generally do).
INTERACTION FROM MODELS
The least I have got from models is thank you in reply to a compliment or tip. Most are better than this, though, and normally address members by username and engage in conversation. Most do this verbally, some with the chat function. Some models are more about stripping than chatting, some are the other way round.
Most models are really chatty and engage well with fans, particularly if English is their first language. Lots of others make an effort, while some others just sit there looking bored.
Less popular models will often instigate conversation by PM, which is nice but obviously their agenda is to encourage you to tip. This is a bigger problem in the less popular rooms. One model I follow is particularly clingy and will PM even when youre not in their room.
When browsing, I normally click on menu under their thumbnail as that shows how many people are in the room. If the number is under 10, thats a quiet room and theres a higher chance youll feel obliged to tip.
USING MFC
You dont need to have a membership to browse and watch, but in the majority of rooms you need to be a premium member to interact with the models. You only need to buy 200 tokens to unlock these extra features.
Topping up with more tokens is easy; you can top up with 200 ($19.99, $0.10p/token), 500 ($49.99, $0.09p/t), or 900 ($74.99, $0.08p/t). Its easy to top up using CCBill or Epoch.
Keeping track of favourites isnt as refined as it should be. You can get emailed when a favourite comes online, but theres no on-site notification. It would be nice just to see a page of favourites and whether theyre online or not.
Make sure you scroll right down the cam show listings. Theres a greater chance of ugliness, but theres a lot of hotties who havent amassed a high cam score. Some are hot and some really try, but I guess its a rich get richer scenario where the models with the high cam scores will get more-and-more popular.
Read models profiles before you join their room. Some will take great pleasure in tearing you a new one for asking them to go nude for 10 tokens when theyre actually non-nude models.
BOTTOM LINE
Its a great site with a lot of great models and a respectful membership. The interface is a bit clunky and not as refined as it possibly should be, but its an addictive site that can take up a lot of time (and money).

Bottom Line:
MFC and Streamate are my two favorite webcam sites, and I meant to write this reveiw right after I did my review of Streamate, but I ran out of time. Both sites have good and bad points.
One thing about MFC that is different from other webcam sites is how the membership interacts with the models. Its a little difficult to explain, but the end result is that you can get to know a model better at MFC than probably any other site. The chat room has a list of all premium and basic members on the right, a chat display in the middle, and the model's video feed on the left. The more popular rooms will often have an active ongoing discussion between the members and model that can include anything as the topic (how her day is going, what type of sex she likes best, etc). If you go into a models chat room on a regular basis, over time you will learn a lot about her. In addition to this, there is a private messaging system, so you can talk one on one with a model if you have anything to discuss with her that you don't want the general membership to see (like what you would like her to do in a private chat). Most models do some type of countdown show, where they will do a strip show and/or masturbate after a certain number of tokens have been tipped by everyone in the room. This usually results in a lot of time for the members to interact with the model. This along with the combination of active public chat and private messaging results in a better interaction with the models than any other webcam site I've been to. Again, its a little hard to explain, but MFC definitely does this well.
A few things are worth noting for new members or persons who have never been to a webcam site before.
First, many models work multiple webcam sites. If you see a girl typing for no apparent reason, she may be interacting on another site. So there will be times when you type a comment in the chat room and the model doesn't immediately respond. It doesn't mean she's being rude. Other sites have their own unique sounds that you may learn to recognize if her sound is on(MFC has a distinctive "chime" sound when the model gets a tip).
Second, video quality will vary with the models equipment. In general, it's still not that good, and no where near true HD quality. MFC did recently add a full screen video option, but if a model is streaming at VGA quality, it will be pixelated. This is one of the more disappointing things about webcam sites, but obviously will get better over time.
Third, there are a lot of European girls here, and not all of them read and speak good English. If you have specific requests for a private chat, make sure she understands what you want before you the click the button.
Fourth, there are a few models on every site who are "time wasters" in their private chats. They will stall for time by typing questions, dancing, and generally not getting naked and doing what you want them to do. When I encounter this, I end the chat very quickly, but not before I let them why.
Finally, you really need to set yourself a monthly budget if you are going to use these sites. It is very easy to blow a lot of money. You have to ask yourself what you are looking for at a webcam site that you can't get from a regular porn site. If you don't have a good answer, then stay away from them if you don't have self discipline. I did what a lot of people probably do, initially spent a lot more money than I should have, before settling down to spending very little.
MFC prides itself on paying the models more than any other webcam site (supposedly 50% of the tips versus 25% to 30% at other sites). That's all fine and good, but I wonder if they do anything to help new models learn the ropes if you will. I've seen quite a few new models who are very attractive and you would think should do well, but they end up doing poorly, having their cam score fall like a rock, and dropping down to page 2, where very few members go (btw check it on a regular basis--there are some really hot girls there too). They may have a FAQ for new models, but I've seen too many new models make common errors that result in their cam score dropping. Things like not showing their face on their video feed, setting a token target for a strip show that is way too high, wearing too much or otherwise not showing enough of their body to get members so horny that they can't resist taking them private, etc. Having just said that, I guess I would be remiss if I didn't call out all of the assinine members who type rude comments, and the never ending crowd of freeloaders who never tip the models. So guys, be nice to the girls, and do tip them if you can.

-models can do "Gold Shows" which are typically priced from $2 to $5 for a show that lasts 5 to 10 minutes. Most girls do a fairly standard routine in their gold shows, but its an inexpensive way to see what they've got, and what they're willing to do.
-private chats here are not as expensive here as some other sites (like MFC or Naked.com). They are typically $3 a minute, and often less. Many of my favorites are $2 a minute. The model sets her prices.
-you can spy on the regular pvt sessions. Once you enter, you'll be charged for a minimum of one minute. But it makes it possible for you to check out the girl's body for a few bucks if she doesn't do gold shows.
-you can click on a button that makes your chat invisible to other users...so only the model sees what you type.
Cons:
-the model notification thing they have that notifies you when one of your favorites is online has never worked for me.
-the favorites list (where you have your list of favorite models) has also never worked properly for me. I think it allow about 10 to 12 models per page, but when you go to page 2 or 3, often you find models that were on page 1 or 2. When you go back to page 1, it's not the same models listed as when you first opened it.
-some of the European girls struggle with their English, which can cause problems when you are trying to explain to them what you want them to do. Fortunately you can email them on their model page if you need to explain something that might be complicated (saves time in private chat)
-models can permanently ban you, and it has happened to me a couple of times for absolutely no valid reason. Other sites set a 30 or 60 day max ban length. One model I am fairly sure banned me by accident (confused me with another member w/similar name).
Bottom Line:
I first got into Webcam sites about 2 years ago, and have tried several since (Naked.com, MFC, Streamate, Live Jasmin). Streamate is tied with MFC as my favorites. On Streamate, I usually only do Gold Shows, but if I can find a model that I really like, and her private chats are $2 or $3 a minute, I will occasionally do a private chat.
As others have noted, Webcam sites can be addictive, so you have to be careful. When I first got into them, I checked my credit card statements after the first 5 months, and was shocked when I added it up and had spent over $2000! I looked in my mirror, and said WTF dude, are you crazy? Now fortunately I have a good job, and I do get to work a good bit of overtime, but I decided that it generally wasn't worth it. So I banned myself from the sites, or more specifically from doing private chats. I've fallen off the wagon a few times, but nothing major.
If you're going to use these sites, you have to ask yourself what do you get from them that you can't get from the typical $30 a month video porn site. There is an intriguing element of "reality porn" with these sites, in that you can tell the model exactly what you want her to do. When you add to that the fact that you will find models that are very appealing to you both physically and from a personality standpoint, it is easy to see how it can become addictive. I always take the time to leave a comment after a private chat. If you have to leave a bad one, be advised, the model will probably ban you.
The last thing that I should mention is the subject of video quality. This will obviously vary from model to model depending on their video equipment, but none of them on any site will even come close to true 30 frame per second 1080p HD video. I do like some pussy close up time in my private chats, so I usually ask the model to zoom on her face in free chat to see what her cam quality is. Some of the girls only have digital zoom, but a few use camcorders and can zoom right in with very good quality.
