Posting links on review Hey I was about to post a link in a comment when I noticed in the rules that it was not allowed. The link itself leads to a special for the website where you get 45% off the normal fee of a full year's subscription. I would post how to get there except it seems the only way to use it is to go directly through the link. The link is 100% legit, there's no scam or anything and it's a fairly well-known site. Should I just forget it and not post the link, make a thread and post it in the thread or what? what's the best course of action? Obviously by asking before doing shows my respect for this forum/site.

I thought you could post a link in a Site Comment, just not in a Site Review. "I'm not a number, I'm a free man!" Second Grand Order Poobah in the Loyal Order of the Water Buffalo

This was quoted from the rules. The link itself can be considered promoting, but at the same time it's proving a point/helping. So I personally see it as being right on the line of allowed and no allowed and it could be ruled as either depending on the person analyzing it. "Links (including the posting of urls) are not permitted at this time (for various reasons), but we might enable this down the road. Although you'll notice above we don't permit the promotion of other sites or services, there are certain exceptions where mentioning other sites is ok: 1. Make references from other sites (within reason) to help make your point. 2. If you're not happy with your membership (you must explain why) and want to recommend a few other sites, this is no problem. 3. You can reference other sites from the same company for almost any reason. What we're trying to avoid are shameless promotions of other sites or services. In our business, competition can be fierce and site owners will go to extreme lengths to get an edge. If we feel the comment promotes another site (or group of sites) with no reasonable point behind it, expect it to be denied."

Actually, posting links in either Reviews or Comments is against our Terms (see Terms for specifics) ... thought we have been VERY lenient about this so far. So elonlybuster, we really appreciate you checking first. If you could send me an email with the specifics, I'll be able to give you a definite answer.
