A question about the raffle From what I've read in Tom's postings in these forums about the raffle, if a PU member has say, 50 raffle "tickets" then his/her name will be input into the list of names 50 times, along with all the other members names appearing once per ticket awarded to them. The list of names containing multiple lines of the same member name is then copied and pasted into the random name picker which is used to draw the raffle winners. My question is: is that list shuffled before submission to the random name picker? If not then I'm guessing the list will contain - referencing the current tally - 173 lines of Homegirl, then 35 lines of markdc1, followed by 28 lines for Pinkerton, 24 lines for exotics4me and so on for all the remaining member entries in order of the tally updated by Tom and/or PU admins for the next draw, with the groups of duplicate names/entries all grouped together. An unshuffled list of raffle entries makes a massive difference to the randomness of the raffle, as I've found through testing both the shuffled list and block list of names. I hope this doesn't come across as critical of the current process, I'm just trying to be helpful. If a tool for shuffling entries is needed, here's a useful one for doing just that, I'm sure others are also available. | |

It is in fact shuffled before I put it into the randomizer - I wanted it to be as random as possible, so it just made sense to me. One of the sorting options on Google Docs is to randomize a column rather than sorting A-Z or Z-A. So I always make sure to that before I cut and paste into the random site.
