Iceland trying to ban internet porn

Hello fellow porn users,

I just saw this on CNN.com...Iceland is trying to ban internet porn.

http://www.cnn.com/2013/02/15/tech/web/p...index.html?hpt=hp_t3

It doesn't look like it will pass, but I'm still glad I don't live there!

Of course, the quote the jumped out at me was "two years ago, the nation's parliament (Iceland) banned strip clubs, saying they violate the rights of the women who work in them."

This sentence seems to contradict itself - why would anyone work in a strip club if it violated their work rights and if there are no strip club to work in doesn't THAT violate the right to work!

Icland's parliament. If it ain't grits, it must be a Yankee.

If you're going to lay her head over the pool table and fuck her throat, get your fucking hand off her throat!

The line I liked was

"But surely if we can send a man to the moon, we must be able to tackle porn on the Internet."

Er... of course!

I'd heard a long time ago that in Iceland, you can see people practically fucking in public places. And I believed them!

Shit ...
I wanted something new, so I left England for New England.

I don't think they're talking about worker rights, but the strippers' individual rights as human beings, though even that smells of bullshit if they're choosing to work of their own free will. This is something the moral crusaders always seem to either forget or just ignore altogether--that women would freely choose to enter these lines of work. I guess women have the right to do whatever they want with their own bodies...until it offends the delicate sensibilities of our learned guardians of decency and family values.

Still, it's sad that anybody is even seriously considering this, because freedom isn't a set of rules dreamed up by the most emotionally fragile in society. It also includes protection for things that may be offensive and distasteful. Maybe they've been inhaling too many toxic fumes from all those active volcanoes they have. "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? A foreign substance is introduced into our precious bodily fluids without the knowledge of the individual. Certainly without any choice. That's the way your hardcore Commie works." - Gen. Jack D. Rippper, Dr. Stranglove

I have the hardest time believeing what I'm reading. I thought a nordic country would be among the last ones to do that. I mean, Sweden is basically like one of the biggest past countries of porn in Europe with Germany and Holland before the eastern Europe was liberated and the cultural atmosphere should be quite homogeneous across the nordics.

This is what happens when your blood runs cold! What are they doing, smoking volcanic ash over there? They need more passion, more love, more sex and yes MORE PORN! A true neck-lover.

Not to get all weird but often times the USA reflect the past of Denmark and Iceland.
Here (USA) we are losing constitutional rights and you know porn is on the proverbial hit list. First gun control affecting our 2nd amendment rights, then our first amendment will be adjusted for the good of the people like guns were adjusted are being considered for the 2nd, then freespeech and censorship just be and added bonus just like banning guns.
More wars have occurred by words then any weapon ever has in all of history. They will work towards censorship. Germany took guns away from its people and China and Korea made it treason to speak against the country. Porn is a right to expression that may be lost here because once you allow like we have to even suggest banning anything against the constitution porn is not far off. Obama has already looked at porn and access of the internet last month. The fact they are even looking sounds like what they did with guns 5 years ago. We may be looking at the long round to endearing internet porn. Value every right you have, I know I sound like an activist on here sometime sorry about that, because I stand for all rights not just the ones we fear or make us nervous. Changing any rights is dangerous the source of the change is never ever worth it. If we allow constitutional change of our rights. Porn will just become a word in history books. Since 2007

I think the warning sign to look for from the crowds trying to do things like this is the mis-guided notion of "protecting children". Here's a quote from the article by an advisor to the interior minister (the one behind this): "This move is not anti-sex. It is anti-violence because young children are seeing porn and acting it out,".

What??? Anti-violence??? How does acting out porn (if that is even happening) constitute violence? It seems as if this person is equating all porn and all sex with rape. And what kind of data or statistics do they have about children in Iceland acting out porn? If they were really interested in preventing children from seeing porn, why not a law requiring porn blocking software on all computers and other devices?

I had to re-read the last part of the article several times to calm down. One of the legislative members (a woman) said the proposed law has "zero chance" of passing. But the article does remind me of the anti-porn remarks made by Paul Ryan in the US presidential election last year.

The classic battle cry of the moral dictators who wish to be society's parents: Won't someone think of The Children?!

What about the rest of us, goddammit? Won't someone think of the adults?! "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? No guns and no porn? That leaves both hands free to do mischief, and as they say about idle hands... "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it?
