It's time for me to join the party! Hello! I’d like to take an opportunity to introduce myself. I’m Amanda and I will be taking over Khan’s duties on PornUsers.com. In preparation for this “passing of the torch,” I have been lurking around the forum, trying to get a feel for it and its loyal contributors. I’ve seen many a post that have sung its praises and I’m really excited to be a part of it and contribute myself. Khan has been such a dedicated moderator and I am going to do all I can to fill his shoes and help to maintain this community. As Rabbit has said, we’re all extremely proud to be involved and I hope we can continue together to keep this a fantastic place to have all kinds of lively discussions. If you ever have any questions or concerns, you can let me know here or by PM. I’d love to know your thoughts on the site as a whole. What do you like and dislike? How important are discounts to you? What is most vital to you as a user? What is it you’re most looking for when it comes to review info? Welcome to Pornusers, Amanda. Since you've been lurking for a while you probably know that this forum - and the whole user-generated site - is very civil. I think for a lot of us that civility is one of the biggest draws here. I hope you're able to continue promoting that. But I also hope the site grows with more regulars so that might be a bit of a task. I think there are two big components to me being a member here: user reviews and discounts. And not necessarily in that order. I think that user reviews are a great addition to professional reviews because often a member will drill down deeper into the site and find some gems or flaws that a professional user might have missed. Also, it's good to get varied viewpoints on a site before joining, even if some of those viewpoints may be given less weight. But that's another advantage of Pornusers: there are some reviewers that I really trust. There are a crop of newer members who will gain that level of trust too. Discounts are a big deal too. We all want to save money. For me, a discount strongly influences my decision to join a site. It doesn't have to be a huge discount, but just knowing that it is there often makes the difference between joining and not joining. With an unknown site it reduces the risk if the site turns out to be a dud. I look forward to seeing how you'll move things forward here over the coming weeks and months. You've got my support. | |

Hi folks, I wanted to chime in here. I've been quiet on the transfer of PU so far but that's only because I didn't want to distract from the important message that Rick and Rabbit were sharing. Please don't read anything negative into my quietness thus far. Today I want to share my take on who the torch is being passed to. To be truthful, unlike Rick, I don't know Rabbit personally nor do I know Amanda so, to that extent, I can only vouch for what I've come to know, along with my gut feelings, having worked closely with them over the last few weeks. First off, I was thrilled to learn that Amanda had many years working within the adult industry. Taking on this task would have been daunting to a total newbie but, to someone who is familiar with the industry, the transition should go very smoothly. I have also been extremely impressed with the enthusiasm and dedication that Amanda (and the entire Rabbit's team) has shown during this training process. It seems obvious to me that they are, in fact, extremely dedicated to continue TBP and PU at the level of quality that you all have come to expect. Along with the training, I've spent the last few weeks bragging about how great our core users are. I'm confident that, after getting to know you, they will see that my words were not empty boast. They'll see for themselves why PornUsers has come to be known as the most civil online community there is. I'll have a little more to say on a personal level before I go but for now, I would like to add this personal request ... As the Rabbit's team is learning, our systems are quite intricate (mainly the behind the curtain stuff). We are all scrambling to ensure that they can keep everything running smoothly. In fact, I've never seen two companies work as close as we all have been working together these last few weeks. However, I have no doubt that, as they learn, they will run into things that haven't been totally covered. So my request is this ... when those times happen, please extend Amanda, and the whole Rabbit's team, the same patience and support you have shown me over the years. I'm confident that any snags will be short-lived but your patience and yes, at times even guidance, will help keep those times as stress free as possible for all concerned. As always, thank you for your continued support of PornUsers. P.S. As far as passing the torch, I'm very comfortable passing it to someone as dedicated and capable as Amanda. I have no doubt that she'll do a wonderful job managing PU. Welcome Amanda and good luck following in Khan's footsteps as he has done an admirable job at keeping things in line (both behind the scenes and in front) here at PU. I will note that I do feel a tad bit of disappointment in no longer being able to whip out a "Wrath of Khan" Star Trek quote any more. First off, realize that most of us who contribute a lot here at PU aren't the typical porn consumer. We collect porn (if not out right hoard it), we edit our troves and we're willing to pay for it because we support the industry and we want the quality without the headaches of searching all over the web for free content. We take our porn seriously (some of us too seriously) and we've been around the porn block a few dozen times. We like PU because we get to express our opinions which are infinitely better (at least my opinions are) than most review sites. Because you have to be able to write that probably makes PU a more "refined", for lack of a better word, users club over most other places on the web and we tend to like it that way - the civility and range of topics that come up here. As for what I like the most, first would probably be the discounts (both full membership and full trials). Second would be user reviews and comments and third would be the forum. I'll note that a lot us like the technical specs that TheBestPorn publishes as part of their reviews (pic sizes, bit rates, file sizes, download managers, etc.) since that helps us assess the quality of the content on a site. Anyway, in no particular order, here's a few things I wouldn't mind seeing changed around here: 1. Add a "like" button for use on reviews, comments, and forum postings. Like everyone else I've gotten lazy and used to social media and would like to be able to express an opinion with a single click. 2. Participation at PU really dropped off with the death of the raffle a couple of years ago (Rick's premature announcement of the MyPorn project caused another drop but we can ignore that for now). I imagine user participation would pick up again if some reincarnated version of the raffle came back. I'm not saying it has to be like it was with $200 Tuesday ($2000 Tuesday would be awesome though) but rewarding people for their input would definitely boost the content level and the overall value of PU to sites linking into it. If the raffle doesn't come back then some sort of reshuffling of the personal Badges you can earn is in order since they are now mostly meaningless. 3. Obviously, the site itself sort of has a shag carpeting / paneled walls retro look going for it which could use some freshening up. That's all I got for now. Best wishes on the new gig. | |

Well, it would be remiss of me not to say something here. Firstly, I would like to thank Khan for his polite, attentive,measured & effective moderation here. I hope this low key, friendly & civil approach will continue, as it is that in major part that has made the forum what it is. I also hope that he pops back in from time to time, as his input was always valued. Secondly, I would like to offer a warm welcome to our new Boss, Amanda. I hope that she will enjoy our company & input. She will need time to get used to our individual idiosyncrasies, preferences, fetishes & obsessions, but I can assure her, we are all mostly harmless, if a little off-beat at times. I would like to welcome you here Amanda. I was not here during the Golden age of Raffel. But I agree with my cohorts that some form of award would boost participation. It does not have to be monetary. I know I would like a special Icon to bling around. I also agree on the like comment someone made. I personally review because I want others to know the truth about sites. If someone puts up low quality content I want people to save their money on those sites. I have had very few bad experiences (Naughty America) but when I do I want to share. Thank you for continuing a place for us to share our knowledge. In my opinion TBP PU site is the best site for true reviews. Also I would like to take a moment to thank all my fellow reviewers for doing such a good job for no pay. I agree for us serious collectors this type of information and discounts are super important. On a final note something super important to me is that bad websites not get promoted (Like NA it has terrible videos and quality even though its original content). Hi Gang, I'm Mike with RabbitsReviews and now TheBestPorn. A quick background: I'm a longtime fan of porn dating back to the late 90s, before streaming video was commonplace and non-nude and solo model picture sites ruled the internet. I was a writer for RabbitsReviews for a few years and then moved into a marketing position with the site. I'm responsible for bringing in sites to review, as well as coordinate our yearly RISE Awards. So, with only a couple of notable exceptions I am familiar with pretty much every major and minor adult site online. I'm also the point man for any interaction between readers and webmasters. If readers have an issue with a site (including questions or access/cancellation/refund issues), I intervene and try to get answers for them. I will be taking over that responsibility for TheBestPorn, so don't feel shy to leave a note or PM if something ever comes up. I came across Porn Users a few years back and was blown away by the in-depth analysis and, quite frankly, CIVILITY found on these threads. Whenever we would have internal discussions at RR on ways to improve the site I frequently mentioned elements that TBP and PU have as things we should aspire to. To say I'm excited in taking part in this transfer is an understatement. I'm looking forward to jumping into discussions and talking about something we all love. | |

A very warm welcome to Amanda and MikeC! As you will be able to tell by the count of posts made by me, I've had quite a bit to say in the past. But personal, adverse circumstances (and, to a certain degree, porn saturation) made it difficult during the past year to keep participating in this forum. Welcome, Amanda and Mike - glad to see that the new crew is so communicative and friendly. What do we like to see? Discounts, for sure - A lot of sites are doing various email 2-for-1 blasts that are rather cool, but they don't care for them to get spread around more than they had originally figured would be the case. One thing that might be cool is if you could get some sites to do those 2-for-1 deals for 48 hours through TBP. It would spice things up and encourage users to check the site frequently for limited-time deals. | |

Just to add to some of the earlier comments... I agree with all of the plaudits directed to Khan. He's set a professional tone to everything and is quickly responsive to all postings that need a response whether the post is here in the forum or somewhere else such as a reply to a review or a poll question. I've referred to TBP as the Consumer Reports of the porn industry and the review section the Yelp. I've learned a lot from this site and have saved big bucks by avoiding crummy sites and fraudulent practices. One possible new feature that I'd love is a news column that would discuss what's new in the business and an editorial commentary discussing issues of the day with opinions of your staff. (Good ideas for expanded discussions are easily found in the replies to polls and comments that appear in reviews, etc. | |
