NHL Playoffs Anyone?

I know we got some baseball fans here but anyone watching the playoffs for hockey so far?

Being from the Detroit area I have to go with the wings this year. They have way to much firepower for anyone this season! The ducks might give em a run for their money though, detroit tends to struggle in the 2nd round for some reason, plus this rest does not look good at all, suppose winning fast can be an advantage and disadvantage at the same time.

Whose gonna win it all, any predictions? I'm going with Detroit vs Boston in the stanley cup, with detroit winning the series 4-2. Sexted From My iPad

My Jackets first ever post season was pretty much over before it started. Since then I haven't watched much of the playoffs but my vote to win the Cup is Boston.

I'm an NHL playoff fan (ignore all reg season games) and a Ducks fan when they're playing like this!!

Detroit on paper should destroy them, but the Sharks should have as well. Should be an exciting series! Bring it on GCode. :) The Best Porn - Ultimate Consumer Guide to Porn

I'm Canadian so I have to be a hockey fan. It's written somewhere in our Constitution or something. Sadly only Vancouver is left to represent us. My moneys on Boston, but those Ducks have got teeth. Long live the Brown Coats.

A great hockeyfan here - played in my younger days - was pretty good at slapshots, I think. (But even if little ol' Denmark is in the A-World Champion again - we're not doing good (again)).
And it's the best to watch NHL-games on the tv - next time in North America gotta go to some games...
Red Wings (Detroit) one favorite, Montreal Canadians too, but they not so hot right now, are they...?

Which team will take it all this year????

Oh, man Rick, DEMS FIGHTIN WORDS! :) Haha, in all honesty, the Ducks are playing pretty hot right now but I don't think they will win. They do have a chance but I just think the playstyle the ducks play goes against the wings in a bad way. The ducks are an aggressive team that love the physical aspect of the game, but I think the wings are the best counter to this type of play (the game vs the jackets when they wanted revenge on the Stuart hit) and detroit just watched them hit everyone and scored the game winning goal as the jackets stared at the fallen wings players out of the play. That's just an example, but if anyone can overcome physical play, it's Detroit. However, Detroit tends to struggle in round 2 vs any team, there's a saying in the detroit area that if the wings can get past round 2, it's light's out for everyone else.

I actually can't wait for this next round! Sexted From My iPad

As long as they can get the puck past Hiller. ;)

My prediction, Detroit will easily take the series 4-1. I base this off absolutely nothing since I didn't watch any of the regular season.

Either way, hopefully the Ducks can make Detroit fans sweat a little bit. Maybe the round 2 curse will live on, we'll see! Can't wait to watch. The Best Porn - Ultimate Consumer Guide to Porn

I think Detroit is still the team to beat right now, but I'm still pulling for my hometown Pens. If Malkin and Crosby continue to play good hockey, then they have a chance to make it out of the east.
They got they Caps this round and we'll see if they still have the Penguins' number like they did in regular season.

I'm a lifelong Kings fan...um, where did Gretzky, Luc and Blake go? Similar to my waning NFL viewership as a Raiders fan, I haven't watched much NHL this year, though I will be watching the Stanley Cup Finals. I guess if I had to pick a team besides the Kings, I was pulling for San Jose since Roenick and Blake are there and they were two of my favorites in the 90s. Once the Sharks were eliminated I now have one main wish and that is for Boston to be eliminated. My favorite player to watch when I was younger was Ray Bourque, but I have since created an Anti-Boston policy in all sports. As a former sports blogger, I was absolutely sick of hearing about Boston (Celtics, Patriots, Red Sox), and specifically as a college football blogger, I can even remember when Matt Ryan was at Boston College and all I heard was how Boston College was going to win the national championship.

So my prediction is anybody but Boston ha ha! My first time I jacked off, I thought I'd invented it. I looked down at my sloppy handful of junk and thought, This is going to make me rich. - Chuck Palahniuk

Well you got your request, Rick! man was that series intense. You are right about Hiller, he makes that team good. Too bad he's surronded by a bunch of Goons :(

So far, interesting conference finals match ups huh!? Who woulda thunk Hurricanes over the Bruins? Man, this has been one hell of a playoffs so far. CHICAGO VS DETROIT!?? can we get any better than this, seriously? I can't wait for these next games to start! What's everyone's take on the Penguins versus the Canes? I'd have to say Pittsburgh, they got past the scientific experiment that is Ovechkin. But, upsetting the Bruins was one hell of a task, man, that might be a good matchup. However, I have to go with the Wings in the other series. Chicago's a great young team but they wont be able to last against the experience of detroit. But, I was completely surprised by the Ducks ability to hang with detroit so who knows!

Predictions: Pittsburgh over Hurricanes, series: 4-2. Detroit over Chicago, series: 4-1. Sexted From My iPad

I really thought the Bruins were going to advance. But as a Penguins fan I'd rather the Pens play the Canes. The Pens torched that Caps in game 7 so they'll likely come into the eastern finals with momentum, but the Hurricanes have gotta be amped after knocking out the Bruins.

The Red Wings are the best team remaining, but Chicago could surprise them.

I think we're probably going to see a rematch of last years Stanley cup finals.

Boy what a crazy series!! No way did I think it would come down to the last 5 minutes in Game 7.

Overall, I thought Detroit outplayed us big time. Ducks stole a couple games with a few ugly goals to pull out the wins. Watching Detriot just dominate the faceoffs, the boards, and simply skate circles around us was the most frustrating part of watching. Plus the fact that our #1 line seemed overused in every game, they were gassed and became worthless on defense.

Congrats on the win, it was fun watching you sweat at least! lol Enjoy the next round against Chicago. The Best Porn - Ultimate Consumer Guide to Porn

This never even crossed my mind but this could actually happen. I wonder if this has actually ever even happened before!? There was not back to back wings vs avalanche was there? If not, the likelyhood of this happening seems slim in the past. Man, that would be a great series too! I love how the Hurricanes surprise everyone all the time every few years and still no one really ever talks about them.

Good news folks, Detroit is up 1 game against Chicago! Looks like they are off to a great start. Sexted From My iPad

I happened to be talking to a huge hockey fan friend of mine and asked him this question. There was a few other times there was back to back exact matchups. He had to dig for this info.

1931-32, 1932-33 Rangers vs. Maple Leafs
1948-49, 1949-50 Red Wings vs. Maple Leafs
1953-54, 1954-55, 1955-56 Red Wings vs. Canadiens
1956-57, 1957-58 Canadiens vs. Bruins
1967-68, 1968-69 Canadiens vs. Blues
1976-77, 1977-78 Canadiens vs. Bruins
1982-83, 1983-84 Oilers vs. Islanders

Really isn't that often, that is over an 83 year period 1926-2008. My first time I jacked off, I thought I'd invented it. I looked down at my sloppy handful of junk and thought, This is going to make me rich. - Chuck Palahniuk

Wow no shit exotics4me, that's damn good reporting :)

So it's been over 20 years huh. That means this finals could end up being a history creator. Interesting that the earlier days was more often, obviously this was because of less teams. So, that means that even more recently it's even harder for this to happen. Man, this makes it even more exciting. Now I am hoping for Detroit vs Pittsburgh! Thanks for that info exotics4me, that is quite interesting to think about. Sexted From My iPad

Back in the day it wasn't uncommon for teams to win 3 or more stanley cups in a row. That's lessened in recent years, but back-to-back is still a good bet in the NHL.

Yeah I'm sure it's much more common for teams to win back to back but it's still interesting to see that there are so few REPEAT championship matchups back to back. I really thought it would be a lot more than what exotics4me found out.

Before the 'lock out' thing, it was the same teams over and over again winning the cup. While it's still kind of common, it seems that the 'newer' teams are having a greater chance at being just as good since and the older teams are getting back in to shape as well. Honestly, this year is really a great season for the NHL, very competetive and well rounded (as far as the playoffs go). Unlike the past few years I've seen in baseball and basketball (don't know much about the NFL but they may be lumped in here too) where it's been basically the same 3-4 teams going at it for almost 9 years now. There seems to be no hope for those new teams or others within that mix (the rockies was a true underdog story though). My point being, I'm finding the nhl to be way more well rounded than the previous years and this is a good thing. Too bad that lock out thing seemed to really kill the sports casting, NHL games are rarely played on espn, local (and i'm in the detroit area), or cable besides FSN or Versus. Just seems the overall fans have lessened since the lock out thing, it's a shame! Sexted From My iPad

Tell me about it. I live in pittsburgh, but out of town so I'm not a comcast subscriber and don't get VS. So I can't watch the Pens games unless I go to a bar. Seriously. They can't show the playoff games on espn2 or something? I think the popularity of hockey is making a comeback and they don't show enough games nationally.
