So, what are they paying porn stars? Just ask Ron Jeremy Ever wonder what Most male performers in straight porn are paid? You can bet it's less than their female costars. Ron Jeremy has commented on the pay scale of women and men of the sex film industry: "The average guy gets $300 to $400 a scene, or $100 to $200 if he's new. A woman makes $100,000 to $250,000 at the end of the year.Girls can easily make 100K-250K per year, plus stuff on the side like strip shows and appearances. The average guy makes $40,000 a year." I can now better understand why women in porn allow all the crap that's thrown at them, among other things. | |

I watched a interesting documentary a few years back covered this question and a few other interesting points about the porn industry. Try and track down the porn stars episode from "Louis Theroux's Weird Weekends" (The rest of this guys documentaries are also excellent) The problem with the world is stupidity. Yet it's harder for the male (okay, no pun intended). The girls just have to take it, whereas the guys have to get it up in the first place. Only a select few can do that on demand, when the pressure is on, every day, all hours. It's a job, one that I wouldn't take on even if I had the ability. | |

The days of the six figure porn starlet sort of went by the wayside with the current recession. Only the top stars make that kind of money now. Most girls who regularly appear in the porn biz probably only make in the mid five figures now unless they do a lot of touring or have enough business savvy to produce and market their own content. | |

I agree with you that the six figure star is a thing of the past and I'd add that most porn girls never make the kind of money being mentioned. Yes, on paper that's true but at the end of the year. I don't think most of them have got more than rent money regardless of the 100,000$ claim. For one thing the girls have to pay their agents and that means probaly 20% or more. They probably live a lifestyle that is not conclusive to saving your money. Many of them have a drug and alcohol problem and that gets expensive real fast. Some have a suitcase pimp in the background who lives of her money. Many live in LA and unless I'm mistaken. Rent must be pretty high. Long live the Brown Coats. | |

I can understand why the women get more because they are what is in demand, whereas the guy is basically a walking hard-on. I do agree that the guy has the harder job with being able to get hard, stay hard, and then eventually and relatively reliably shoot on command, all on camera in front of a nearly all male crew. I'm sure it's fun if you know what you're doing and you can perform under pressure multiple days of the week. Guys seem to stay in the business a relatively long time compared to women, especially since age isn't as important as it is for women. Quite a few of them seem to hook up with and even marry female stars which makes sense as well because they could understand each others day jobs, not to mention filing jointly on their taxes. Interesting thread - with a lot of estimates and guessing...but it has to be that way - here. I wonder: is there still a vast difference between the income of US and European models (girls/women)? It would actually be pretty easy to get more details in this age where virtually every single porn babe - especially the young up-and-coming ones - are all into "Follow Me On Twitter" - and many of them would have no problem sharing info about how much the average girl gets for various types of scenes. The problem is that you can't be sure that one girl won't lie about another girls numbers and vice versa. The only way to know for sure is to get the people that produce porn to give numbers but that won't happen because they don't want one girl to know how much they paid another girl. The only girls whose salary can be guessed with a certain amount of accuracy are contract stars because they have only one salary which is not based on trhe number of scenes or movies they do per year. The other girls income is based on the sexual act they are willing to perform and the number of scene they will do. Add their level of popularity and the exclusivity of the sexual act they are willing to perform. I'd say that a very popular actress that has been in the biz for a few months to a year and chooses to do an anal scene is likely to get a large paycheck for that one scene. I don't consider wikipedia to be much of a source of accurate info. I don't know if it still says so, but Stephanie Swift's wiki page used to claim that she was a lesbian. In fact, she had been in a committed boy-girl relationship for years and I met the guy more than once since he sometimes traveled with her to club gigs. | |
