Webcam girls??? As a veteran in porn (bear with me, guys)...I really wonder about this: Been browsing a lot of free/semi free webcam places lately. Of course it's like I expected: lousy quality - but that's the name of the game. What really puzzles me is how many gorgeous girls that are working on such sites - a lot of these girls you never see on good ol' regular pornsites. If they go as far as working/exposing themselves at webcam sites, why not go to the probably better paid sites.....or is it because the sites/site owners never find them??? Hi Denner, I am willing to bet, even though it is a darker response. That the ladies are suppressed to a degree with promises of the big time. There are ladies even where I live. You could put then in a scene day after tomorrow and they would do well. Problem is if my new starlet moves on and I am not her manager, well my money goes out the window. I am guessing obviously. But I would guess many are kept from pursuing the career as long as they can be used by there current site owners. I think about the pimp in the big-ole caddy pulling up at the bus station, finding that pretty face and promises of the promised land. And well watch any old episode of Barretta and you get the jist. My reasoning may be way off because I don't like webcam content and never watch it but lets see what you think of my little theory. I think doing webcam work is probably very lucrative for the girls and the sites that host them. As far as I know the bulk of webcam sites sell either tokens or charge per minute so although they only make a small amount of money per customer, per time spent viewing the model. The more customer a model has viewing her and the longer they stay online. The more money she and the site make. An example would be if a site charges a quarter per minute to view a model. That's a small amount of money but the site still makes 7.50$ per customer, every half hour. If you multiply this by 100 customer "I assume is a conservative number of customers" then you have a site making at least 750$ every 30 minutes per model. Now imagine if the model has 1000 customers. I suspect these hosting sites pay their models a percentage of the earnings so it's a great incentive for girls to do more hardcore stuff to get more customer and make more money. The reason why so many girls do can shows is because of the money which I explained above then there's the fact that most webcam shows are solo model so it's a lot easier for most girls because they don't need to screw on screen. Another advantage is that you can do cam shows from your own house so no need to go anywhere. It's a lot easie to do cam shows than stripping because you never see the customer. The number of well known performers now doing mostly cam shows is huge. Long live the Brown Coats. | |

I too don't care much for webcam sites. I can follow your reasoning, Pat, but I doubt the girls see much of the actual proceeds though. There are other benefits for them. They are probably able to work on an ad hoc basis as the mood & opportunity arises. They are working at home, so it is a safe environment for them. Cap'n. The only reason why I say the money must be better than what you assume is that almost every porn performer now does cam shows. Now I agree that some of girls probably don't make that much money but I suspect that those girls disapear rather quickly. Long live the Brown Coats. | |

Hi all, I am actually rather new to this forum, but I thought I would give you an answer for an actual webcam models viewpoint. I have been in the business for 4 years and I am 40 now. I have been on some of the sites that girls were basically giving it all for nothing in free chat just hoping to get enough tokens to call it a night, to others where there are so many membership deals that you, as a model can hardly make a dime. I started camming because I needed to while going through a divorce. I liked that I could work from home and set my own schedule. I now tell the younger girls to just do their research before starting a site. I now work for a nice, smaller site that is much more personal. I know most of my chatters really well and if I am taking my clothes off, I am in private with them and earning 65% of each $1.00 and 50% of all tips. I am sure most young girls have no idea how much they are really making for the site, but for me, I like the extra cash and I love the fave that I am home, and yes,if you are smart and work for the right site, you can make a ton of extra cash without feeling horrible about getting naked for money. jasmine I have been a webcam hostess for many years as well as a nurse and I love both jobs! One reason could be the potential number of viewers of what you do. Once you do a scene for a pornsite, it's available to be seen anywhere in the world. Working as a camgirl, you may theoretically limit what countries the clients may come from (camsites let models block countries or regions by IP address). Also, unless you work for a site that is OK with public shows, what you do may be seen only by the guys taking you private. Much less exposure. As for the money, some girls make a lot of money webcamming. Not every girl but some certainly do. Likely to the point that what they make in an hour of webcamming is more than what they'd get per hour doing porn. | |

When you see porn babes such as Nicole Graves, Sunny Leone, Janessa Brazil, Amy Reid, Ruby Knox, etc, doing web-camming, it's pretty clear that smart babes on the right sites - the ones that have contracts that allow the women to make money - can make quite a bit of money. Sorry to bump a 100+ days old topic but yesterday I remembered this thread when I came across Eve Angel live on cam at My Free Cams. I'm certainly not the biggest fan of Ms. Angel around here so I'd appreciate if a fellow and more knowledgeable PU member could take a look at her webcam and confirm it's really her. Her current alias there is EveAngelBabe and she seems to be online during late afternoon to late night, Europe time. I found it interesting that she was sitting there with a half empty room and trying to learn how the site works, with no sound, very bad lighting and a very questionable cam position choice. Kind of shocking compared to the crisp picture, clear sound and know-how of any other popular cam girl there. She did get some long times in private from fans who recognized her, though. Given that, as far as I've read here, her site has stopped updating, it's a kind of proof that some performers are, in fact, moving from porn to webcamming which is the opposite direction Denner suggested in his first post  | |

Thanks for the info. Eve Angel's webcam image is very bad and there's no sound but it's certainly Eve Angel. In spite of that, fans don't seem to care and she is most of the time in Private at My Free Cams. Or Away, meaning she is likely in private on another site. You may also see her doing public shows at random for no apparent reason. Very odd behavior. | |
