Thumbnail Photos: An Appeal

I was looking through the sites I'm subscribed to right now and was struck by how difficult it was to view some thumbnail photos. It's especially hard when the subject takes up only about 50% of the shot AND the thumbnails themselves are really too small and I find myself squinting.

I don't have that problem with MPL Studios or the ATK Galleria or Premium sites (though I sure do with ATK Petites, which has smaller thumbnails).

The solution I propose is simply this: Make the thumbnails 200 pixels on the long end (200px tall for portrait orientation, 200px wide for landscape). This is the size used by the above-mentioned sites that aren't a problem.

So webmasters everywhere: Please make your thumbnail photos large enough for easy viewing. It would be most appreciated! I wanted something new, so I left England for New England.

And another thing. On picture sites I wish they showed the thumbnails of the updates with the ladies fully clothed. It would help me subscribe to the site.

We know they are going to be naked later on in the set but I would personally love to see what they wear to start out with. It's important to me!

I think that from now on, I'll only join sites that are "ophthalmologist recommended." I wanted something new, so I left England for New England.

Although I got lost in drooler's math dealing with a picture's 200 pickles.......eh, geeez, I think that was 200 pixels ???
anyway, I think considering his logic I'm gonna have to agree with him.
However, I'd like to add here that I love thumbnails. But I find when I get too much calcium in my diet they tend to grow much faster.

, Drooler. I hope enough webmasters see it that maybe some action will ultimately develop that'll put them to work fixin' the problem.....if for nothing else than to save our eyesight.

I agree! When the thumbnails show the model naked, it's hard to get a flavour of the set itself - we end up just being awash with naked girls. Which is no bad thing, but you know what I mean

One thing I remember from Stagg Street is - as well as the top-notch photos - the format shows 5 thumbnails for each set. Although they are small, it's much better than 1 bigger one, I'd like to see other sites do something similar.

I do not get it! - pix (porn) started way before vids - and went on developing when the first vids almost made you run away because of less than lousy quality...

Porn/nude photos has been there long before the net - and after the net became a hit, the business kept going.

Still a lot of sites can't handle proper thumbnails. It's kind of a mystery to this old and former 1. fan of fine nude sets.

And BTW: Thumbs should cover the entire set and in a size you can view without a magnifying glass - some can handle that. "I don't drink anymore - I freeze it, and eat it like a popcicle"

Yes, that would be ideal, Denner. I praise "We Are Hairy" for doing this already (hope I don't come across as shilling for the site) and wish others would follow their example.

Some sites let you choose the thumbnail size. It's a nice feature! InFocusGirls and OnlyCuties do this, for instance. I wanted something new, so I left England for New England.

In the last revamp of my main site I upped the thumbnail size to 250 pixels, so I hope that meets with your approval. I only give a limited selection outside the members' area obviously, but all the provided thumbs will expand when clicked on to the largest size supported by your current browser window.

It's always a bit of a balancing trick trying to get the display issues, aesthetics, quality and usability right when designing a website's page layout - making the thumbnails big enough to see clearly whilst getting enough on view to give a quick idea of the whole set and leaving room to display other updates too. It's something I usually end up tweaking every few months. Webmaster of StripGameCentral and A Measure of Curiosity.

Yes, the non-member area looks pretty smart at the moment.

Ed, you da man. And believe me, I do appreciate the work involved with keeping the pages looking right. Anyone who thinks it's easy hasn't done it. I wanted something new, so I left England for New England.

Thanks, Drooler. And you are so right. Page design is a nightmare much of the time - so many factors to keep in mind (Users don't worry about bandwidth efficiency, server load efficiency, browser compatibility, search-engine optimisation, standards compliance, ease of maintenance etc.) Webmaster of StripGameCentral and A Measure of Curiosity.

After all that, "ease of maintenance" does seem like a bit of an afterthought, doesn't it?

I'd say that browser compatibility alone is enough to drive a person . I wanted something new, so I left England for New England.

When I start out with a new design, ease-of-maintenance is usually one of the highest priorities but the complications of the others (during the construction process) usually beats it down to below everything else Webmaster of StripGameCentral and A Measure of Curiosity.

I'm not sure I understand you?

First impressions are based on aesthetics and layout. Ease of use is more layout and functionality based. Reliability becomes a factor as time goes on, and features like efficiency come into play when the site is busy (less load = faster pages and lower bandwidth costs).

Further complications occur when making changes. Sometimes I've found that a slight modification requested by users has trigger 4-5 days work and reliability problems due to the knock-on effects. Webmaster of StripGameCentral and A Measure of Curiosity.
