Refunds - is this normal?

Subscribed to a crappy site yesterday and realized it within half an hour. I wrote to the webmaster who, to her credit, canceled my account immediately and without protest.

I also got in touch with CCBill who told me that my account would be credited with a full refund ... hooray! But one thing has me curious, they also added that it may take 2 - 4 weeks (depending on the bank) before the credit shows up in my account. This is the first time I've ever asked for a refund so I don't know if this is an excessive length of time to have to wait. I will let things take their slow course but am wondering if this is normal?

Normal to get a refund from a porn site:
1. wow the fact the responded quick enough to give a refund is awsome.
2. The fact the gave you a refund is awsome.
3. see one and two.

Seriously it can take a day or two to see your credit card credited, electronically. But 4 weeks unless they have some weird twisted billing system 4 weeks sounds odd.
I would research CCbills Terms they are reputatble so its got to be a policy somewhere. Since 2007

I think that is general ass-covering. In all likelihood you'll see that credit very quickly, but certain circumstances could slow things down - like holidays, for instance. Companies often like to warn about worst case scenarios in this sort of thing to try to stop customers from contacting them and accusing them of bad business practices just because a transaction is taking a little longer than expected (and probably in a manner that is outside their control). I doubt it will take more than 4 business days for the credit to show up. "I'm not a number, I'm a free man!"

It was awesome and totally unexpected to get a refund without protest, that's for sure. Maybe it was because I dropped a few words like deception and cheating and scam when I asked for my money back! :-) In any case, three cheers for the webmaster, she didn't even get angry and offered no resistance!

I think you hit the nail right on the head, toadsith. Seeing that I trust CCBill I think I'll just sit back and wait to see how long it will take to get my refund.

Brazzers told me 10 to 15 days, and the credit hit 2 days later, but it was not the total amount as they promised.

I've asked CCBill for refunds before, and got nothing but the runaround. Once it was with a site that misrepresented its content (volume and pic sizes). No one could even find that fucking webmaster. I'm still PO'd about it.

So Messmer, I don't know how you enunciated the "abara kadabara," but you got the door to creak open. I wanted something new, so I left England for New England.

I ran into a site like that last year but CCBill wasn't their agent. It was one of those tempting "cheapo" sites, (don't ever let temptation carry you away because you get exactly what you pay for). $10.00 for one month, not renewable. Halfway down the welcome was a link to "my husband's site," I clicked on it, took in what he had (not much) and then found out at the bottom of the home page that by clicking on that link I had obligated myself to a continuing subscription to his site for $ 24.99 a month.

Most of the links on her site didn't work and kept leading you to the sign-up form. The contents I could get at was inferior and could be downloaded within fifteen minutes. No link to support, no link for comments, no link to webmaster, no link to the CCBill equivalent, a company I had never heard of. It took detective work and some luck before I finally got my money back. The email address to the CCBill equivalent was hidden inside the entrance icon and could only be seen if you right-clicked on it. If I hadn't found it by accident I'd be sitting with a new credit card right now. :-) So, buyer beware.

After a long, wordy detour: the site that gave me my money back this time appeared to be legit, however limited it may have been.

I thought I'd give a true amateur site a shot for a change and was sorely disappointed with their set-up. Their main section was free but had very few good pictures or videos, so I figured by subscribing to the "pay" part which contained more hard core amateur material I'd have myself a complete amateur site.

The pay part of the site contained only one month's material, the pictures were still small and blurry with most faces masked, still of inferior quality (true of most amateur sites)and the videos were every bit as bad. Now comes the part that really made me feel I had been cheated.

After resting for that month or two in the Pay Partition called "The Vaultz" the material was then shifted to an archive that again required a separate subscription.

So if you found a decent looking model you liked in the free section you had to subscribe to two different sections of the site to follow her progress over the months or years.

The Price was right but the quality and methods used were not and I let the webmaster know that I thought of their methods as deceptive and misleading and felt I had been scammed. Maybe it was the latter statement that gave me a quick refund because I hear that if there are too many complaints about iffy sites CCBill and Epoch will drop them like hot potatoes. Whew, that was a long-winded one! :-)

PS. Looking at my original post .. I lied! It's not the first time I asked for a refund but the second time! I had forgotten all about the one I mentioned above to Drooler. For a good excuse see ... messmer ... profile ... age! :-) Edited on Oct 14, 2008, 06:34pm

I think the lesson here is that if a site does not take ccbill or epoch, they may have used them in the past. If they were dropped, beware!

I would wish that someone from within the industry would read this thread and comment with their viewpoint.

I've had no trouble with refunds from CC Bill or Epoch (Paycom). They always say 2 to 4 weeks but always delivered for me in 2-3 days.

The old underpromise/over deliver trick I suppose.

I suspect porn sites are reluctant to get into billing disputes because they know they'll probably lose, so fast refunds avoids the hassle for them.

I am pretty ure CBill has agreements with the websites when they sign up how they want refunds handled.
CBill is a brokerage type setup like PayPal, and you need the owners consent to give refunds, I suspect that there is check box option o how you want refunds handled, because CBILL refusedto give me a refund on a site that didnt even show up when you tried to look for it crashed and stayed down. Yet no refund ever.

So I think how refunds are handled is and option for webmaster upon sign up.
After all they would have to pay CBILL something for them to hassle a customer over. Since 2007

That's exactly right. CCBill and Epoch both do only what the websites want them to do. But they both execute the sites' instructions extremely well and fast and also are good at quick response to customers.

Some of the lesser processors are less than competent (honest?) and can screw things up royally.

I just had an experience where my card was charged by Epoch but the site blocked my access. They said I had to deal with the site about the block, or, if I'd like, they would reverse the charge. I opted for the reversal. I can always sign up later as a new customer.

They said it would take 2-4 weeks for the credit to appear on my account but it took exactly 2 days.

Well, forgetting isn't necessarily lying. Like, this isn't an investigation into the US Justice Department. ;)

I'm glad this discussion started. Knowing that refunds for ripoffs are yes or no on a case-by-case basis at the billing companies is something I want to keep in mind. I wanted something new, so I left England for New England.
