We JUST launched our preview site for myporn.com: http://www.myporn.com/ These are very initial previews, designed to share with our current audience and allow others to request an invite when we're ready to go beta. If you hover near the "reserve" button in the middle of the sreen, you'll see a "pre-release schedule". All registered PornUsers (and ONLY) are GROUP A. Well, Rick, I really did hesitate in putting this up because I'm not too thrilled with starting off with criticism. (But, of course, here it is anyway...) It certainly looks more up-to-date than what we have on PU, but flash-based scrolling (or whatever you call it) has never appealed to me. I know it can take some adjusting to a new website's layout, just like it is on the sites we sign up to. Some are simple, some "busier". I, for one, favor the simpler layouts. Too many options, with too much mouse work makes any site more of a chore to navigate. Maybe all the options will make more sense down the road as it becomes more routine, but my initial reaction was more of a WTF moment. You asked! Appreciate the feedback so far... RB, I'll make you a believer someday.  The new UI is a dramatic change, and took an extreme amount of planning/tweaking to get it to this point. It's like comparing an iPhone to a flip phone. We're packing far more content and features into myporn.com in comparison, and constructing an intuitive interface to make it all functional was definiltey a challenge. You'll love it Mr Buddhist! I know this preview is mostly for looks, and maybe you've already answered this, but will any of the current forum carry over to the new PornForums? I kinda agree with RB; the UI is a little much when it's got cursor/hover sensitive (or whatever the correct technical term is) that adjusts a lot of the layout as you move your mouse around. For example, when you move your pointer over a thread title a sub heading appears and moves all the other ones down. Maybe if you could make it expand horizontally (to the right, given the space limitations), or just have it highlight to different color text, so it doesn't appear to rearrange the rest of the page. (Just suggestions, keeping in mind I'm not a web developer.) And one last question (for now!  ): when the site is up and running normally will the list of threads and tabs be moved up closer to the top? The image dominates the whole page right now.But looking pretty good so far, and it'll be interesting to see more interactive previews in the coming weeks and months. Thanks, Rick! Good questions turbo! We definitely want to minimize the hover elements as much as possible. The forum page definitely has that one column on the right that will expand the thread details if you stop your mouse pointer. However, it's something that as u learn the functionality, works well. I can understand the initial annoyance, and it might be something we tweak further. The new forum will be separate, there won't be a good way to import the threads/profiles unfortunately. Both will run in parallel for some time. Lastly, the tabs and cover image strategy does a few things. It creates real estate for window functions such as messages, notifications, search results, etc. The image is content itself, and will link to it's full gallery on gallerypin.com. It's consistent on every page, and the image is customizable on your own profile page. Thanks for the feedback. I really like the new layout and am looking forward to it because it pulls in everything I use the site for (except the forum...which should be separate anyway). My one concern is that stuff is added to the new site just for "wowsie" and not for legitimate functionality. So far it doesn't look like "wowsie" is the objective. | |

It's funny that you said that. My friends have been seriously pounding me about when I'm going to get a smartphone. I don't like 'em. The battery in my flip phone lasts for almost a week and it makes phone calls. I also think the fact that people have bought into texting as a preferred means of communication shows how stupid we are. In 5 seconds, I can say what it takes a minute to type. All that to say, simplicity works. That doesn't mean I'm totally resistant to change. I'm definitely looking forward to all the information that will be available and I'm sure I'll figure out the new site just like I have every other site I frequent. I guess my earlier message is just a request to not go overboard with the need to scroll and hover and click here, click there. Oh - and the only things I love are my niece and nephew, my cats and camping and fishing. Anything beyond that is subject to "Like".  Sarcasm is a body's natural defense against stupidity. | |

It's got a snazzy look. The mission is more up-front, it seems. Will take a bit of getting used to, of course, but as long as users can review and comment on sites without fear or favor, as we've had since the inception of PU, then that's good enough! Good stuff... answers to the "yet to be determined": 1. The new system will have the "like/dislike" for each profile which will be accessible with a tooltip when hovered over a profile icon. You'll be able to click to the individiual profile as well. Profile will show how many "followers" that person has as well. 2. The preview site up now only shows a few mockup listings for each, but the final product will definitely show around 50 at a time with a very advanced infinite based scrolling engine. In the left sidebar, you'll notice a "page needle" that allows you to instantly browse 1000's of listings by instantly going to a specific point without ever leaving the page. 3. When hovering the site icons at the top, it should already preview the site name... but yeah it takes a little figuring out to understand what each site does. A little further explanation might be necessary, but we'll have "intro videos" for each when we officially launch. 4. The profile page will be much much more fun and interesting. There's a social network built in, where you can post a social message on any profile, including your own. It'll show a time log of all your threads and reviews, etc. 5. Wow! I really, really like the look of this Rick! I struggle to accept change and this won't be any different but the look and feel of the new sites will be worth that struggle. I'm sure once it gets up and running a lot of members will be exploring and posting tips for the new features. There are many reasons why I'm looking forward to spring this year (most of which centre around that fact that I'm trying to survive my 47th Canadian winter) and this update has just added another. I'm convinced that this new site will exceed your expectations for increased membership. One question, and I had hoped that someone else might have raised it since it is probably a stupid question. You mention this, but just for clarity, those of us who are members at PornUsers now don't need to request an invitation to join as this is automatic. Is that correct? Something to keep in mind with regards to first impressions of a user interface ... they aren't always right. Here I'm going from lessons I've learned myself over the years. Oddly enough, it was computer games that taught it to me. I'm guessing any gamers here have learned the same thing. I recall, more than once, starting a new game and because the interface wasn't what I was used to from previous games, my first impression was that it was going to make the game less enjoyable or a hassle to play. [man, talk about your run-in sentence] But after playing a short while, I'd realize the interface had become all but invisible. My focus was on the game and what I was doing. The interface I was initially apprehensive of had become second nature. For the record, I haven't used the new interface yet. I'm sure, like the games, when I first start using it it'll take some getting used to. But everything I hear about it so far has been very positive. I like the game analogy, especially as I used to like computer strategy war games. It took me a while to get into the idiosyncrasies and buttons of a new game, especially after playing a favourite, but after a while I usually got into the new one. It was just a case of not being lazy, and making myself learn how they worked, in order to get the best out of them. | |

I like the nice clean look, I am wondering how well it will work when you have a large amount of content with only apparently 5 on each page. A lot of click and scrolling especially with the large image at the top. Maybe you could change the layout after the first page Also wondering why you use different domain names for the different sections, it seems to me that sub-domains would work just fine. Like the porn bargains section, its like couponing for porn also for the forum section. I wonder how well it will work when you have a large amount of content. I don't think you need that large image at the top of the forum section. | |

Marcus, would love to get your feedback... although it's not a lot to take in just yet. Fiblove... appreciate the input. I know the mockups don't tell the whole story, but the 5 on each page is just a sample. The actual site will have infinite results, far better than what u see now. As far as the domains, it's just for additional convenience and to add some brand for each section. The cover photo is meant for eye candy and will link to it's specific gallery. The new site looks pretty snazzy and I'll keep an eye out for that email whenever the Group A invitations go out. Two things: 1) Will the top bar that connects the various sub-sites float for easy access? (i.e. the Nubile Films menu bar) 2) Will there be a mobile version or will the site be responsive, enabling it to adjust to any screen size? Also: Welcome back Cybertoad! Toadster's in the building!  1. We'll have sticky headers, absolutely. It'll work similar to how you described. The bar will change depending how deep you are in the site. On a basic level though, yes absolutely. 2. There will be an optional scaled down version for mobile (you can bypass to nromal site still). Tablet will use the same site, but mobile will be a completely unique interface. Having it responsive based on screen size was too large of a task in this case. Things are moving along well!! We had to replace our html/css developer a couple weeks ago which slowed us down, but his replacement has been brilliant! The site has also already gone a major interface upgrade... based on lots of feedback. Wish I had more to update, but that's all I have for now. Obviously I'm not Rick, however, I think I can answer for him on this one. By all means, any reviews you're thinking of submitting, you should fo ahead and submit. The review section of myporn is still a ways off. Can't pin it down any more than that but I can assure you that the reviews submitted to PU will be available and useful to your fellow users for as long as they need to be. The TBP/PU staff have started doing early beta-testing of the forum section of myporn. The programming team is (very) hard at work getting stuff built. Rick may have more to say but I wanted to let you know that no-one has missed a public invite yet. You guys will be getting a look at the new stuff well before the general public.
