Hey what was your favorite gift you recieved or gave this year ? I got a Nice 250gig Xbox black 360, built in WiFi and Dual HDMI hookups. I know for my age, but I am big gamer, used to dumster dive at the old Atari etc, and build games so still like them and good at them. I was in my late teens when Pong came out. Any Halo and Call Of Duty or Battle Field fans ? Since 2007

I don't see where age as anything to do with it. The family bought my nephews an XBox 360 with Kinect. The bundle include 3 Kinect games (Fruit Ninja, Gunsligner and Kinect Adventure) as well as Fable and Halo Reach. I also bought NHL 2K12 for one of my nephews since he's nuts about hockey. Go figure that a Canadians likes hockey. We played with the Fruit Ninja and Kinect Adventure. It's an impressive piece of technology and quite fun. We haven't trie Halo yet but that's bewcause we have to download it from XBox Microsoft site and that takes a little while. My only major issue with the XBox is in regards to a known defect on the console. They overheat like there is no tommorrow. The dealer told us to be careful and monitor the heat. My cousing told us to put a small fan near the unit to help blow cooler air in the console. Long live the Brown Coats.

WOW gamer here, but no presents this year for that. I did receive a Kindle for Xmas but I immediately re-gifted it to my niece which she like immensely. It was the lone gift I received and it felt great to give it to her! If it ain't grits, it must be a Yankee. If you're going to lay her head over the pool table and fuck her throat, get your fucking hand off her throat!

Now that was a great thing to do. I'm considering getting a Kindle in 2012. The price is right and I enjoy many of the things Amazon has to offer. Not too mention that giving strong compoetition to Apple is really good for us consumers. Long live the Brown Coats.

That sucks, and you'd think that by now Microsoft would understand the importance of keeping electronics cool, especially in a gaming machine that might be on for hours at a time (only theoretically--not that anybody actually plays video games for hours at a time ). I wouldn't recommend having a fan blow on any electronic device, because even though it can blow cool air it will also introduce dust, dirt, farts, queefs, and basically whatever else is in the air into it--not good. There are a number of cooling products out there, and also consider putting it up on a small wire shelf to have airflow on all sides. I have a PS3, which does get pretty warm too, but I would never want a fan blowing on it. Maybe play outside if you're far enough north? "It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? Don't know about the Canadian Library system, but they promote the Kindle to have free access to library content. If it ain't grits, it must be a Yankee. If you're going to lay her head over the pool table and fuck her throat, get your fucking hand off her throat!

I also have a PS3. It does get hot but it doesn't compare with the XBox. I think a better solution for the Xbox is a fan pulling the hot air out of the console instead of shooting cooler air in. I agree with you that a fan shooting cool air in would also shoot a lot of dust and that can't be good. Long live the Brown Coats.

Yes, and I think this is how most of the aftermarket cooler attachments work. Still you would think Microsoft would have redesigned a cooler version like Sony does with slimmer Playstations. Not to drag this back to the original thread... ... but my favourite gift was what my sister gave me: season 2 of both Adam-12 and Emergency!. My wife is throughly pissed at me because I keep responding to her requests by concluding "KMG three-six-five" and ordering "ringers lactate" regularly. I have no fucking clue what ringers lactate is, but in my house it means "gin martini with a twist of lemon." If ringers lactate actually means something important that fixes heart attacks or something you'd probably best avoid a heart attack at my house.

We have three Xboxes in my house a 1st gen 2nd and this new one. We got the red ring of death on one a few years ago both have coolers. I do get the idea of the dust but PC's and Mac also use fans a very bad way to cool but seems industry standard unless you buy like we did my son a few years ago a Alienware PC that is liquid cooled and came with a 2500.00 price tag. The new XBOX has more cooling vents and does not seem as warm as the other ones. There are a few notable differences. The new model ( Slim ) is smaller, consumes less power with a smaller power brick, makes less heat, the chances of it over heating(most likely reason of RROD) is now very low, other technical improvements, bigger HD, built in Wi-Fi,and is faster in loading games and Xbox live Netflix is blazing fast on it compared to my Bluray player. I like the sleek black look of thew new Xbox its foot print on my desk is not much bigger then a phone answering machine. I am not happy with MS's past performance and agree the PS is superior lasting wise, but play wise the PS and Wii still do not stack up. Kinda like Macs and PC's mac's are superior lasting wise, but unless you are editing movies gamers prefer PC's still . Since 2007

Now those were amazing shows. I think Adam 12 still plays on those retro tv shows channels but I don't think that Emergency is still playing anywhere. At least I haven't seen it anywhere. Long live the Brown Coats.

I finally took another step into the 21st century by getting a wireless router. Eventually I'd like to set it up so that my hdtv (which has the ability to receive wireless input) can access the web. Probably won't happen until next x-mas.

I remember when Adam 12 went from friendly neighborhood cop to dealing with drugs was a weird transition and a first for TV really. Emergency also went on to deal with drug over doses etc. If ya think about it they were cutting edge for the day. Since 2007

I did get the latest version of Battlefield for PS3--a lot of fun in solo campaign but I haven't gone online yet (since it's not free and I'm a frugal cheapskate ). The design of the 360 has vastly improved since the 1st gen models. Even the newest versions of the fat models based around the Jasper design do not overheat, the slims run even cooler. The problem with the world is stupidity. Not saying there should be capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself? Now I don't know if the dealer was lying but his story matched the same one a couple of others said and the new generation of Xbox are significant improvements over their older brother but the unit still overheats and they warn all their customers not to play for extended hours without taking a break and allowing the unit to coll off. It makes sense that these things overheat since they are basically a slimed down computer with a very high end graphic processor and we all know that these two things overheat. Long live the Brown Coats.

A serious drawback to both series is that the people who distribute them have taken a page from crack dealers. I bought season one of both series in Toronto a couple of years ago for maybe $20 each and when I was done watching them I headed to Amazon to see if I could get more. The price for seasons two through to the end for both are MUCH higher. I haven't seen either on TV available here for a loooooong time. Both are surprisingly well done and obviously strive for accuracy.
