… it bugs me when they get the same billing as the female models on porn sites. Let me explain. At a network that I’m a member at now the scenes list all the cast. The site I’m downloading from features parties with lots of people, both male and female. The cast list has many of the models listed, but often starts by listing some of the men, and usually intersperses the men’s names with the women. Since I name the downloads for the women in them, it makes it more confusing for me. Is “Tyler” or “Pat” a new female model I might like to find more of, or is it male? I won’t name the network or site because they aren’t the only ones who do this. I’ve complained about it in past reviews of other sites. I have nothing against the men in porn, and I think they deserve credit for the work they do. But I hold the opinion that the men in straight porn are really nothing more than a prop. The scene may have a couch or a bed, and it needs to have a penis too. The male supplies that. The male’s job is simply to show off the female at her best. I have nothing against listing the male talent, I just don’t like it when they get top billing. Does anyone agree or disagree?

The male's job is simply to show off the female at her best Agreed With rare exception, the male cast member is a stunt pecker. The only requirement, remain rigid. This is easier than it used to be, with newly available pharmaceuticals, virtually eliminating a key player in the porn industry. The huffer. unless life also gives you water and sugar, your lemonade is gonna suck.

I agree with you RA. I suspect at certain sites the porn guys get same-or-better billing than the women for several reasons. Most of the directors are current or former porn guys; I.E., the 'good old boys club' effect. Many times the 'guy' is also the 'director' (at least in Gonzo) - so there's a clear element of self-promotion. Backlash from the way porn scenes used to be: the guy was essentially an anonymous prop. Attempt to appeal to a larger audience. The unfortunate trend towards porn as some kind of competitive sporting event. And it doesn't help that, these days, the women seem to have really short careers. I'm rather tired of seeing the same 15-to-20 (seemingly immortal) guys, aggressively grinding their way through the same clichéd stunts, upstaging the women at every opportunity, and being billed as 'super stars' to boot. This leads to (IMO) stultifying scenes. The general trend bugs me to the point that I've canceled many of my accounts at the larger US/Euro porn sites. And if a site does look interesting, I do some research and if the old same guys show up in the 'porn star' list or in the scene credits: I pass. Porn happens because a large number of things amazingly fail to go wrong.

Hmmm - My view is this. I do not want to watch Johnny Thrust or Mr. Pete's little wienie get a blowjob but I do like it when someone like Chris Strokes gets one from a favorite deep throat artist. So I do like to know who the mopes are. If it ain't grits, it must be a Yankee. If you're going to lay her head over the pool table and fuck her throat, get your fucking hand off her throat!

If I understand the problem correctly, it's trying to view female models, especially new ones, when the names are unisex, and one might wind up unintentionally getting a "virtual boyfriend." Without photo thumbs, that would be frustrating. Alternatively, males could be filtered out with a click. These are suggestions for the sites who don't do such things. I don't think the complaint has anything at all to do with male performers. It seems to be about how certain sites do or do not organize their listings of performers. I wanted something new, so I left England for New England.

The only site that I know does this is Kink's hardcore gangbang. I don't know why they do that but it's clear to anyone who as been a member that the shoot is dedicated to the woman. I honestly don't know why they do but I did find a pattern in the order. If Tommy Pistol is in the scene than his name is usually the first one out of all the performers (including the woman). I did see a couple of exception where his name was after the woman and in a shoot last November Steven St-Croix had top billing but that could be because he was a well respected performer in the past. John Strong would also be a performer that gets top billing at Kink's HG except if he is shooting with Tommy and then Tommy is number one. Maybe they are contract players for Kink? Long live the Brown Coats.

Good point. I hadn't thought of couples-oriented porn. You're right that the male needs a bigger role in those scenes.
