Miss Hybrid, photo sizes, do webmistresssss listen and how to get women to pu I need to know about photo sizes. I was at 1000px then went to 1200px I am now trying 1600px. At this size though can anyone view them without scrolling? I must say I was a bit upset by the reaction that I and my site received on here. Having reviewed my site, against the comments , I have made some alterations. I can see that the video size I was presenting would have been the norm back when when I was 18! I have played them full size on my 24 inch screen and they are not the best. The new ones, I am happy with. I have added a site update diary and am now dating updates. Over the 11 months since I started my site I have averaged an update every 2 days. In addition to this I add to my blog frequently. Regarding getting more women to post on here...If you saw me sat in a bar, on a stool, on my own, ..would be friendly, would you show me a little respect or try and shoot me down? You know, I know, I came here mainly to promote my site but I also like to enjoy myself. If its not enjoyable, people will go elsewhere. Just have a look at some of my posts and others comments on blogs / forums. I want to stay here for a long time. I value the reviews done here and the comments that users make. To prove it, look at my site compared to a few weeks ago. Kisses and regards Miss Hybrid xx

Pics at 1600 might need a touch of scrolling, depending on how one has their display set up. But pic fans don't mind scrolling a bit. On my screen, pics at many sites require scrolling - not a problem - I like nice big sharp pics - also when I save them and then look at them, the default for my viewer is to view them so they fill the screen - they look great.

Dear Mister Panther, Thank you for replying. What, in you opinion would be the best size to submit my photographs given that I shoot them in much higher resolution that this? I love still photography but I thought that maybe it had been somewhat eclipsed by video. Miss Hybrid xx

Hi Miss Hybrid, I did a lot of research with my members on this one a few months back, eventually going for a photo size of 2048 pixels. I got around the scrolling problem by using a script which allows members to choose from a range of viewing sizes. That seems to keep everyone happy. I know some sites offer photos in 2560 or larger but there was no support amongst my members for that. In my experience the video/photo preference seems to run at about 66/33, but I guess some sites tend to attract video lovers and others those with a preference for photos. A couple of years ago I thought it would be all video by now but there still a lot more than negligible support for good quality photos out there. 1600 is fine for me. I know sites do them bigger, but I don't honestly see the point, unless you are planning on printing them out as a poster. BTW You know you can count me amongst the 33%, Ed! I take them at 3900 x 3000 approx but I have a 24 inch scree and either fit to screen or scroll. basically I can offer them in any size up to that. Thank you for the replies. I think I will stick at the 1600 xx

Agreed. I tend to view them at my screen size anyway as I tend to like to see the whole photograph at once.

As long as the pictures are sharp, I like 'em as big as possible. I stick with an outdated version of Firefox, in part because it resizes images to fit my screen from top to bottom with the option to enlarge it to full-size with a right click. The newer versions of Firefox and Opera don't do that. I don't know about Internet Exploder - I won't use it for anything but Windoze updates. I use chrome which does the same thing, except you left click the pic to toggle between full size and full-screen.

My lysdexia is flaring up again - it's a left click in Firefox too. And I guess I'll have to check out Chrome now. A lot of websites now have issues with FF2 - including this one. Sarcasm is a body's natural defense against stupidity.

It's funny how this question about photo size relative to the screen keeps coming up as an issue. First, I don't mind scrolling. I like my pics BIG sometimes. Really big. Like, I've got a huge stock of 6000px shots from Hegre-Art. But it's not just whether or not one must scroll. There is a wide variety of screen resolutions and screen sizes as well. And walls. Also, there are sometimes pics in which the subject is too small in the shot. I get that sometimes at FemJoy. Damned if I'll ever get why they make the model the size of house cat in some photos, but they do. (It's like Land of the Giants, Nudist Edition.) Solution? 4000 pixels. Anyway, if you don't want to get complaints about photo sizes, offer 1200 and 3000 pixels both. And if you don't understand why people like big photos that would have to scroll on your computer screen, well, so what? You don't need to understand it any more than I need to understand the appeal of smearing food on the breasts (in photos, real life being something quite different) or draping strings of beads in the crack, which I think is a pretty unsanitary thing to do with one's jewelry. Or fisting. Or fisting at 1024 pixels, for that matter. Too small! I wanted something new, so I left England for New England. Edited on Apr 04, 2010, 06:32pm
