Question about VR As some people here are already using an Oculus or Vive, I would like to ask a question: How do you watch movies with the VR device? Is there a special kind of videoplayer that comes with the hardware? Because as far as I understand, the normal players (VLC etc.) are not supporting VR yet. | |

Yes, you do need additional software to play VR porn through your VR headset. This is true whether you have a smartphone-based device, e.g. Cardboard, Gear VR or a console based device, e.g. Oculus Rift, HTC VIVE. I'm not too sure how to get it running on the PSVR yet since I haven't had the opportunity to try it out. But I'm sure it's possible. For a smartphone-based VR device, you have to go to your online app store, either the iStore or Google Play and download a VR app. I'd download the most popular one or one that's made specifically for your phone like the Samsung VR app. After it installs, launch your downloaded scene through the app and slip your phone into your headset. You may need to make adjustments to the settings on the VR app to maximize your satisfaction. For Oculus Rift users, visit the Oculus site and download Oculus Runtime if you don't have it already. Ideally you should be able to just adjust the the Oculus display mode to Extend Desktop to HMD. If that doesn't work, try downloading a VR player like LiveViewRift or Virtual Desktop and launch your file through this player. For HTC VIVE users, you're going to need an external VR player. Most sites recommend Whiligig. Oculus Rift and HTC VIVE support will probably not help you watch porn on their headsets, but VR porn sites will. Many of them (VR pornsites),have in-depth instruction on how to play their videos in VR as well as active forums full of good advice from other VR porn enthusiasts. Just find the support page on any VR porn site and make sure you're looking at the instructions for the right device, and you'll be watching VR porn in no time. Hi, It's nice to see some Rift owners answering questions here. I am not sure mine are worth their own thread, so I hope noboby would mind if I used this one? I have half a mind to ask Santa Prime to get me an Oculus. But I am worried that, depending on the movie playing software, I might not like it. I may have a peculiar way of watching movies. I do not care about the usual 15 minutes of moronic writing and atrocious acting, so this gets skipped. Then I do not like this angle/position, then this, etc., so I end up skipping back and forth a lot. I like to force the movie to loop between two markers, to place and remove chapter markers, etc. On the PC I do all this using Zoom Player from inmatrix.com. It has a truck load of features, all accessible through user-defined hotkeys. Play, pause, skip forward/back 3/10/60 seconds, place chapter marker, pplay between markers, etc. Are there VR players on the PC that would have all these features? On hotkeys? Or maybe on the gamepad? Though about the latter, we are not playing games here, we *cough* need one hand free. If I have to call the player interface every time I want to perform any of theses actions, I suppose I will stop using the headset very soon. Right now I am testing things on a Google Cardboard and my 5.5" Asus 1920x1080 smartphone. There are two things I figured are badly needed: a button to reset the point of view, and keys to zoom in but mostly out. I suppose all this is there on a PC? Also many Oculus reviews are complaining about the resolution, apparently pixels are visible. I have a nice 27" 1920x1080 screen on which I do not see pixels nor compression artefacts on properly encoded videos. Switching to a pixellated, albeit VR, image might prove to be a disappointment. Is the Oculus really that badly pixellated? Maybe it only relates to games? (Some reviews are saying that the visuals are much better on the Chinese Pimax 4K UHD, and it is cheaper and compatible with both he Vive and Oculus, but I am not purchasing anything from that far away anymore). Also, I've found this "Rift simulator" at http://vr.mkeblx.net/oculus-sim/ . Is it really accurate in showing the pixellation effect? | |

Hi, I've got an HTC Vive and have started writing reviews. A couple of updates for this thread. First, most sites allow you to download VR porn in multiple formats so it will almost always work with whatever device you have. Second, VLC is the player of choice for previewing VR on a flat screen. there is a free plug-in called K-Lite Codec pack plug in for VLC that will allow you to preview your VR on a flat monitor. You can't really watch the video because it is doubled and distorted, but you can see that it is working properly. The codec pack also works for the windows player, but the higher resolution VR videos won't play on it for some reason. There is another plug-in that removes the distortion and allows you to watch the video on a flat screen, but I have not tried it since, you know, I've got VR. And third, the best player I've found for the HTC Vive is called Simple VR Player. It will display flat or VR videos and will also display jpg images. You can scroll through, pause, reposition or skip using controller buttons. Hope that is useful! Skippy | |
