1960's soft core films

Is there a book or other source that lists these films, with details on each one?

Can you be more specific, jasta?
My having been around most of the 19th century, I can relate to shortly after when "talkies" were introduced to movie-making.
Really livin' for me as a lad growing up was hightailing it up to the local movie-house and paying my nickel for a ticket, and strolling down the darken ales to the front row seats.
Women on the big screen in those days even looked good with their clothes on. But even then I wanted to see what's underneath.
Ever Since I was kicking the slats out of my cradle as my defiance for rather being in the lap of one of the few lovely damsels living with us, who fortunately couldn't keep their hands off me, the ambers of lust never quenched smoldering.
From pubescence on down the line,, I was always eyeball deep in anything that smacked of erotica.
Girly mags and movin' pictures dominated all but my scholastic endeavors ( which gratefully supplied me with enduring imagery of my shapely teachers entertain me at bedtime.
I've since studiously followed erotica in pursuit of every form that can be viewed ... particularly in motion adaptation.
I then can say with a respectable degree of authority that I know a thing or two about the transition in movies from the squeaky-clean do's and don'ts behavior, to the latter down'an'dirty.

Sorry, guys .....forgive me for straying off topic.
I tend to wax sentimental when the subject touches on the life an' times of movie-making.... usually followed by unrestrained, run-off-at-the-mouth personal commentary.

Anyway, lasta, addressing your inquiry:
Are you talking about soft core, as a term introduced in the era of mid-century film making, wherein the goody-two-shoes of film-govern-propriety had to succumb to the notion that others, with differing interest of script and content of what they pay for, also occupied the same outlay of real state as do they.
It was then a sudden relaxing of prurient overkill, effecting film content of that day ...(gulp) to actually advance to allowing scenes depicting simulated sex.

It all went uphill from there. Or, how one looks at it, fallen to the depravity of the Internet.

But really, jasta, the easier answer to your quest lies with the simple effort of keying in "Mr. Google."

Good luck. Edited on Feb 17, 2014, 11:35pm

Most of the 19th century? That would make you somewhere around 200 years old! What's your secret? Sarcasm is a body's natural defense against stupidity.

1 century = 100 years or 1,200 months or 36,525 days. ... 1000 very simple multiply 100 (that's how many years are in a century) multiply that by 10.

Graymane : Born 1933......
Current year is 2014. that's 20 years shy of 100.
Last I checked, I turned 80 Oct. of last year.
That rounds out to be at 80% representing the greater part of the 19th century.
I believe 100 years is still regarded as a century.
Do the math, RB!

errr ... not to put too fine a point on it but 13 of those 80 years were in the in the twenty-first century. That leaves 67 years you lived in the twentieth century. As best I can tell, you lived zero years in the 19th century ... which I'm guessing is what prompted RB's remark.

But I think we'll all agree that you've lived through all of the 1960's .. which is the period jasta asked about. Former PornUsers Senior Administrator

I don't know of any books but NetFlix carries a number of the old Pam Grier type sexploitation movies. But those were mainly in the '70's I think.

If memory serves, they even have a few documentaries for exploitation, grind-house and drive-in type movies. One of those may reference a book on the subject.

Other than that, a search of Amazon for books on "Exploitation films" would be my only suggestion. Former PornUsers Senior Administrator

It's not a pay site, so I won't mention it by name here, but Google should be able to land you on a fairly well-known site that carries a lot of sexploitation flicks for sale on DVD. I think they also offer some downloads for some of them. It's a shame they don't start a subscription site - they have some good material and I think they'd be able to get a fair sized membership going. Maybe I can blame these memory lapses, as well as other off-the-wall, nonsensical, and admittedly sometimes butchered threads and posts (that are currently becoming all too frequent), on all those hard blows to the head I took from my father's unrestrained, whaling fists, and full-force kicks to my body once I hit the floor .... while routinely in one of his sudden, destructive rages .....the latter never slowing.... scarring physically and mentally throughout my formative years as a child growing up.
I did a thread on the harsh conditions I lived under in those times earlier last year .......
Or was it shortly after I was discharged from the army?

^ My father was an alcoholic and became very verbally abusive as his condition reach its height. If I turned off a light, he wanted it on and if left it on he wanted it off. So you could do nothing right. Of course this would be explained to me into the early hours of the morning and with very descriptive terms to my character. The joke was, he left us, me and my mother, because he couldn't stand us.
He would study the bible just to argue with his mother, long distance, about god's purpose and they would quote each other from their bibles to support their claims. He could care less about religion, he just wanted to argue.
He would call us from Nebraska, we lived in Wisconsin, just to tell us what asses we were. I finally got smart and let him go on his rant for hours so he would get a hefty phone bill. He stopped the calls for a while. Of course he would start again when he got intoxicated enough.
He lived to 58 years old. Buried back in Nebraska where he was going to start over again. My mother never wanted to hear the word "fuck" again after he left us.

Oh yeah! My father, who lived to age 93, was also one of those pseudo-Christian family dictators .... who banned everything from our home that would divert anybody's thinking from his brainwashed philosophy as to the only way to get to heaven.
One's gotta understand this breed of simple-mindlessness, under the guise of religion, collectively go overboard espousing their concept of Bible verse and scripture.
For example, because the scripture says "spare not the rod,"
guys like my father, who gorge themselves on the words from self-proclaimed "God's servants" (Bible-thumpers) who, behind their pulpits interprets the bible their way.
Consequently, that gives my self-chosen, mentally crippled, biological-only daddy reasons to lean on me that much harder with a heavy hand.
Visitors to our home made their way around as if in an unstable china shop.
On one of unending like-minded occasions, he put his foot through our TV because my visiting cousin was playing music that smacked of worldliness.
All who ventured within, had to do it his way or it was the highway.
Gossip abounded from my mom's side of the family, who's eleven brothers and sisters grew up under the harsh, hardworking conditions of sharecropping -- all of whom labored to later share in the supreme pride as grown adults, by their wits had made their way up the ladder to the American dream.
Mom was the first to escape those hardships by graduating to life in the city -- but unfortunately her horrible price for that was having to marry my father to get there.

^My parents grew in Nebraska, just a hundred miles apart, but never knew each other. Father came back on leave from training in the Army Air Corp and they met in a dance hall where the big bands played. They married before he went to England to be a navigator in the Eight Air Force during WWII. He was shot down on what was to be his final combat mission and spent about six months in a German prison before being liberated by the Russians. He would talk about any part of the war except when the Russians showed up. After the war he got work with the Chicago & North Western Railroad and we finally settled down in a suburb of Chicago. Like most alcoholics it took time for his condition to get severe. Life was not to bad until the mid sixties and then his alcoholism got full grip and his behavior changed. Father quit the railroad and we moved to Milwaukee. There life became intolerable as my father would not come home after work and instead spent time in one of the local taverns. If you have ever lived in Milwaukee you would know how many taverns there are here. In some areas a tavern on ever street corner if not two or more. Father got fired from his job after coming back to work from to many liquid lunches and had to find any work he could. After a couple of split-ups he finally got the hint we never wanted him to return and he moved back to Nebraska.

It is strange how life was good in the early years of my childhood and how drastically it changed as alcohol took over my family. A person I loved and cared about became a person that filled me with hate.

As most children of alcoholics, I became one myself, but realized my condition and joined AA in 1987. It saved my life. After two weeks in rehab, the counselor sent me upstairs for therapy. Besides alcoholism I have chronic depression and I'm bi-polar. Can't imagine how I survived all that. My chances were very slim.

Now we have stolen this thread, but you were open about your life and I wanted to let you know you weren't alone. Warning Will Robinson Edited on Feb 20, 2014, 04:17pm

I really appreciate your sharing that with the forum, biker .... and especially with me personally.
Looks like we both got stuck with, and forced to live with gad-awful fathers. Mine, a slobbering mad-dog, left me eternally shell-shocked and your's with you addicted to the bottle.
If it'll make you feel better, reading between your lines you assuredly appear to have came out of it all pretty well-off.
And even if the thread is necessarily stolen, it's repercussion should certainly make those readers who've had the good fortune of growing up with normal and/or loving parents, feel handily blessed, as well as supremely lucky.
