Any Special New Year Traditions? First off, happy new year to all. My wife plans our New Year's dinner around several superstitions she's picked up over the years to insure good luck. It's not that we're especially superstitious, but why temp the fates, right? So I got to wondering, what, if any other traditions people have for the new year. Got any you want to share? In the past. We would go to my brothers place but feeding 10 people is a major pain. Especially when he already did the Christmas dinner for his in-laws. We decided to go to a restaurant this year instead. It's more expensive but there are no dishes to clean afterwards. Long live the Brown Coats. | |

Ahh .. we do the same for Christmas. In fact we always do Chinese food in honor of A Christmas Story. Since the wife does the whole shebang for Thanksgiving, it's nice for her not to have to worry about it for Christmas. Can't speak for all geezers my age ...... But I'm already passed the point in my life where "traditions" don't even have a foot in the door. I've begged-off so many past invitations to family and kin's celebrations marking "special" times of the year that they've given up asking me. In my book this doesn't label me a scrounge of sorts, either. It's just my opinion its in the best interest of all that my place at a crowded, festive dinner table remain either vacant or occupied by a selected homeless person who'd otherwise be more deserving and/or appreciate it more. I don't need sparing with uncles, cousins, aunts, or even my own family members whose bound and determined to include all their friends to ,like, tighten the tension to serve beyond the call on my part to justify my presence. Besides, it would be just like me to unintentionally release a wall-vibrating fart right in the middle of a quietly conversational setting at the dinner table. Summing up my argument on the subject, although not proud of the outcome ....my last wife and her two kids "saw the handwriting on the wall" upon later in our marriage hearing me confess that I thought purchasing, laboring at putting up and decorating Christmas trees and laying out ornaments, only to greater labor again to remove them about ten days later was "kind of dumb" ...... After which lead to setting in motion her decision at planning to quit her job as Paralegal at one of Atlanta's most prestigious Law firm, leaving our expensively happy home in Stone Mountain Georgia --- transporting all she could fit into a big trailer, setting out on the road in our new car, abandoning her part of the mortgage --- and head back home to Dallas Texas. Me? not to worry ....I didn't do too bad: She was the epitome of a classic trophy wife ....Potential Playboy rendered centerfold-in-waiting, she was spinning heads wherever we went, and was hit on by every down-town lawyer, entertainers and the like who seen her great ass doing the two-step in her every motion. but it was only sugar-daddy-graymane who tapped that nightly treasure so often until he'd worn out the vaginal lining. I figure even with my memorable losses ....I was way out ahead.  | |
