R.I.P Prince Very sad news. Prince has passed away. He was such a musical genius. I remember watching him do the Superbowl halftime show and singing Purple Rain in the rain... it was so magical. I was talking with MikeC about it and he mentioned the fact that Prince, along with Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and Madonna were the big four icons of the '80s and now only Madonna is left. So sad.

I never had the opportunity to see him live, but I know people who did and it was ethereal to see him perform. Very sad news

I did get to see him live on his Musicology tour. He was amazing and sang some of his older classics like Little Red Corvette. I remember some comparing Prince to Michael Jackson when Thriller came out. They were both different artists in their own right and moved music in ways it has not moved before. Prince's later music is some of the best out there. He was not afraid to go in different directions. I recommend finding his newer stuff and giving it a try. I still am in shock at the news of the death of this musical genius. There really will never be anyone like him. "Dogs think people are Gods. I was never a fan of his music but there is no denying the genius talent that he possessed. May he be in peace. Long live the Brown Coats.

I agree Pat, I too was never a big fan of his or David Bowie. But there is no denying the impact in culture, music development that was a direct result of this kind of Talent. Why everyone was listening to Prince, I was listening to Scorpions, Journey. Van Halen, Metallica, was not really a big pop band listener. But Prince is lucky he will live forever from his music impact alone. As he brought a whole new edge to performances that has not been seen since the days of Jimmy Hendrix. We have to remember there are many with talent and then there are those with impact to every day life. Now lets not be sad, lets remember all the cheer he brought. And go party like its 1999.
