Summer is around the corner! Hey guys! So summer is finally around the corner. Winter was pretty long up here in the frozen wasteland that is Canada, so any sort of warmth is welcome. The trees finally have buds on their leaves! Does anyone have fun summer places? Holidays booked? Things to look forward too? | |

As a fellow Canadian I know how important summer is. We have a small travel trailer that we use in area parks and campgrounds. We don't usually go more than a couple of hours away. I also have a relatively remote cottage that I love spending time at to recharge. No actual travel booked though (apart from parks and campgrounds). | |

We have two planned and booked. In July we are going to Bangkok, Thailand to see my girlfriend's dad's family. I already have concerns. I am 6'3" 255. When we were booking the hotel online they only had rooms with two twin beds in them. What am I going to do with a twin bed? Let it lay on me? We finally got some communication with them and they had some rooms with one king size bed, they just weren't included in the internet offer we were looking at. In August we are going to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I like this one except I won't go in the ocean and I'm the weird guy that walks across the beach in tennis shoes. This one has no concerns. I made friends with a couple that owns a beach house in Ocean Lakes Campground and they rent it to me for a week at a very low price as long as I book 6 months in advance. We're taking the family and a puppy and a little dog too. My favorite thing to do is sit on the high deck on the house and watch the sun come up. I also like the very salty air. And this one is only a 4 hour drive. Despite my hatred of the ocean, I love seafood and they have the classic Calabash style restaurants. I am planning on losing 10-15 pounds before we go so I can gain it back! I'm not missing winter as much as the ones in Canada. We had a very cold winter and it was snowing in April but we are already in the 90s. I think the next week is 7 straight days of 90 or higher. I like cool weather like 55-65 high, 40-45 low. My first time I jacked off, I thought I'd invented it. I looked down at my sloppy handful of junk and thought, This is going to make me rich. - Chuck Palahniuk | |

^ I'm not sure where in Canada you are. I'm on the Atlantic coast and it doesn't feel like spring here either. Last night it occurred to me that it was strange on May 27 to not hear June bugs banging against the windows. It's obviously too cold for the little buggers. And for me to need the seat heat on for my morning commute in late May is pretty rare. | |

In normally sunny California, where it's usually warm and sunny in May, we've had one of the coldest and wettest Mays I can remember. My sympathies to my friends north of the border.
