PU or pornsites... Fellow PUs: - this could be a poll instead - but it's more realistic this way, so this question: PU or Pornsites? Which takes most of your time dealing with this matter (porn in general). The reason I ask is that more and more time from this user is spend with a lot of fun here at PU - whereas for - let's say half a year ago - the overwhelming majority of "porn-time" was spend at regular pornsites and/or browsing for it. Lately there's (normally) not a day without checking TBP/PU, whereas some of the sites that I'm a member of at this moment can be skipped for a day or two - at least... Without a doubt, Porn Users. I don't exactly check porn at work - but Porn Users, well that is a different matter. I check the site at least once an hour whenever I have access to my computers - usually if I'm absent for more than a couple days it is because I'm on vacation and thus physically separated from my computers. The recent Thanksgiving Day vacation is evidence of that phenomena. I probably should go through the threads active during that time... "I'm not a number, I'm a free man!" Glad I'm not the only one - guess some of us here are getting more and more "hooked" on that PU-deal....hear that, Rick and Khan? My only problem is that the amount of inputs here are getting so overwhelming that it is impossible to catch up with all, alas. "I don't drink anymore - I freeze it, and eat it like a popcicle"

I was also thinking about - sorry, this may be a typical scandinavian thing: Why is TBP so heavy into this and with the lot of work that the very special deal as PU also has to create? Not for our blue eyes. Of course TBP has to make money - it's not free to run a site like that and TBP is probably not a humanitarian deal -:) But compared to most - no all - the others similar sites Porninspector, Rabbits and so on, I've never seen such fast and regular respons to inputs from webmasters as here at PU. By all means, PU themselves (ourselves) has been bulding this up for quite some time. But give it to especially Khan - and Rick too - these guys are also making this place worth while, but just this one - I think rather innocent question: Appart from the fact that I think all of this also is fun for you: What is your foremost income here? Maybe the question is indiscreet - or as Lee Van Cleef said in the Sergio Leone-movie "For a few Dollars More": "The question is not indescreet, but the answer might be" "I don't drink anymore - I freeze it, and eat it like a popcicle"

That's very much the truth. I can't read everything written in the forums as it would need another hour per day to catch up. Sad but true ... And yes, I spend a lot of time here at PU significantly more that browsing the site I'm a member with at the moment :-(

Ah, Sergio Leone knew how to make a good movie. But aside from that, um - what was the question precisely? I've gotten confused by the tangential commentary up to and surrounding the final question. I think it's interesting how a site like TBP makes a living - since I do not know anything about the economy-deals in this bussiness - is TBP willing to tell us? Is it sponsorship, is it income based on how many PUs join via TBP or what. AND BTW: To quote you "sadly it is one I enjoy a bit more than my real job" Somtimes I have that feeling myself - and sometimes I think about how it would be possible to make a living from porn-sites, things like a scandinavian TBP or alike.... Ok, a little off topic: Lee and Clint (Eastwood) is talking about how to handle their common hunt on the bandits as bountyhunters - both with different cause - Clint for the money and Lee for revenge from something in his youth (killing of his sister by the bandit-boss) - and while talking Clint ask the older Colonel Lee: "Tell me Colonel, were you ever young?" And he gets a hard stare from Lee - Clint steps back and says: "Or are the question indescreet" And Lee answers: No, my boy, the question isn't indescreet, but the answer might be" Anyway it's the best Sergio Leone Western - I think - even better than The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" "I don't drink anymore - I freeze it, and eat it like a popcicle"

Ah - got it :-) Yeah, that thread Wittyguy pointed out mainly covers it, but simply put - they make money by getting a percentage of the membership prices of the websites that people join after browsing TBP or Porn Users. You'll notice that links from this site and TBP have an reference ID in the link - something like this: ?nats=bestporn Being an associate can get you often upwards of 50% of the money from a membership purchase through your link. I've actually thought of becoming an associate of my favorite sites just to get a discount on long term memberships, lol As for a Scandinavian TBP - you should do it! Not everybody understands English well enough to find TBP and Porn Users a valuable resource, and as TBP has proved, it could become a viable source of income for you :-) "I'm not a number, I'm a free man!" Agree - Rod Steiger does a great job in that movie - I think Steiger here is at his top (remember him saying the "Okay" in that very special way?) This is incredible. Tonight I was going to make a post saying that since joining this site I've spent more time here than actually watching porn. I was going to ask if anyone else was doing the same, but expected a backlash of "don't be stupid how can you spend more time here than watching porn?" I spend about 3 minutes here for every minute watching porn. Another thing I was going to say was this - how much of the porn you save do you actually watch? Because I think some people probably download enough to last into the next century, but never get around to watching it...ever. It will never ever be seen because there are just not enough hours in the day. On the other hand as a bit of an habitual hoarder myself, I do like to save things, safe in the knowledge I have them, even though I will probably never use them, watch them, or read them again. It's just a nice feeling to know I have them. But because I am realistic I am being VERY selective on what I actually keep from porn sites. I don't think most of the stuff that is downloaded is ever watched. It's that feeling that once you have it, you start searching around for other things, trying to discover something new and exciting. Then you find it, download it, and move on to something else. Or am I wrong on this? Love the festive McGoohan avatar! Edited on Dec 02, 2008, 04:13pm

Oh it's a cheery time for Number 6! lol Despite having a reasonably large horde of porn, I actually do watch what I download. Then again I'm relatively picky, I preview everything I download and I trim the collection now and again if I find I downloaded scene that doesn't interest me anymore. That is probably why the 500GB porn drive isn't entirely full yet. That said I'll still keep browsing for it - porn isn't like food, you can't just keep a stocked inventory and be satiated. It is more like books, sure you'll happily re-read a bunch of it, but you always crave something new - even if it is constrained by the genre type it abides by. "I'm not a number, I'm a free man!" I'm a bit late in getting into this thread, but I'll say that yes, PU is a site I visit pretty regularly (heads all nodding), and yes, it can get overwhelming. But I'm not complaining. No, sir. Sometimes I just look to see what the latest is. Then there are echoes in my mind of all of the self-help time-management stuff I ingested in my teens and 20's. Or sometimes, I just need sleep -- hence my lateness to this thread. But the greatest irony, of course, is that this burgeoning of reading material is being generated by we, ourselves, and us. But again: No complaints. You know, I'm glad I wrote this. ;) I wanted something new, so I left England for New England. Edited on Dec 02, 2008, 11:14pm

I've seen "In The Heat of the Night" several times. It is a great movie! Funny how it was what became known later as a "buddy movie," but of course it was a lot more serious than most. Both leads were complex characters, heroes who were also fallible. And Steiger's performance was masterful. The way he would twitch and look up after rubbing his chin when confronted with the realization that he was dealing with something he didn't know how to handle -- things like that -- it was fine acting. Sorry, I'm starting to write review of a movie. LOL. I wanted something new, so I left England for New England.

This movie I've seen since my highschool days - then on VHS-tape and now DVD - I still enjoy speciel scenes and can see them over and over. Especially the scene where Steiger and Sidney Poitier first meet in Steigers office (and Steiger do not know Poitier is a policeman) - that dialog may be the best ever - Norman Jewison was a genious. Ever read the book (John Ball) - it's still fun, too! "I don't drink anymore - I freeze it, and eat it like a popcicle"

Sorry if this is off topic, but I didn't know whether to make the comment here, or on the next big thing in porn thread. I do agree with Wittyguy when he says the the future is in streaming. There will be uproar from porn users if they try to stop downloading, but with the amount of free porn and copyright theft porn out there, it could well mean the end of downloading as we know it. The price of porn at the moment is I think, astonishingly low (but don't tell the porn sites), so I can see a very large rise in prices for downloading material. I can see the cheaper wholesale video sites like Video Box go with downloads of older stuff, while the more independent sites stick with streaming. Then after that, they sell the older stuff to Video Box, or whoever. This is what happened when they first started releasing big movies on video. First run big movies were expensive to buy at first, some companies would do rental only. Either way you couldn't own a new big movie very cheaply. So it may go this way for first release porn. I think streaming is fine when it comes to pre-viewing a video or while you are waiting for one to download and have nothing better to do, but I can't see it as the next trend. Most of us are basically collectors and streaming only would be just as distasteful to us as DRM.

"Streaming only! Great!" No, I don't think that's going to wind up in the "+" box of a PU review. DRM is like those tapes at the beginning of a Mission Impossible episode. (Boy, am I dating myself!). "This tape will now self-destruct in 3 seconds. SSssssssss." Streaming would be like Phelps dialing up and listening on a secured line. But for the sake of argument, should streaming ever become the modus operandi of Internet porn, I'll just delve into my substantial collection of already acquired, DRM-free I-porn. I check PU once a day, usually, and often just hit the "comments" area, browse through to see if I've got anything to add and do the same with the "reviews" area. About every other day, I'll do the same with the forum. So I spend a GREAT deal more time looking at actual porn than I do at this site.

I see you're not slow to flaunt your awards, Toadsith. Personally I think awards events are a little rodentist. No hint of a nomination for Roland Rat, Secret Squirrel, or Mr. Michael Mouse at any awards ceremonies this year. The small fact that Mr Mouse went on a drug/drink crazed tour of some nightclubs recently and shot himself in the ass with an illegal firearm, while trying to unholster it, in order to shoot his own reflection, which he perceived to be a nutter carrying a gun, may have had something to do with it.

If you want to reply with the highlighted quote just press the centre button out of 3. There's "reply to message," "reply w/quote" and "report" at the bottom right of each post. Then you delete all that you want from that member's post in order to leave the quote you want to reply to.
