Video sizes Thought I'd start a new thread for this particular topic. I've posed this question on specialist boards regarding videos and related software and got no clear answer, so I hoping (and secretly betting) one of you guys will know the answer.... I shoot my stuff on a widescreen camcorder. Not Hi-Def, just regular definition, but I use the HQ setting.... OK, when I dump my footage on my computer and edit/tart it up etc it shows as 1024x576 pixels (16:9)with no distortion. However I've seen not only my own videos, but others report the same size video as 720x576 pixels as if its running at 4:3 not 16:9. Any ideas guys and gals? I'm running Vista on a widescreen laptop Fujitsu Seimens Amilo. The screen is 36.5 x 23 cms which is running at 1440 x 900 pixels at 60 Htz (32Bit) which is the maximum resolution. I'm not very tech minded Cybertoad. :-( www.rockchicksandbikerbabes.co.uk

My guess is your video editing software, once you complete the editing and tell it to publish the video, is then encoding the edited video in that resolution, adding black bars at the top and bottom to provide 16:9 content within a 4:3 format. I recommend you check the settings of the video editing software - either in the preferences or as you are publishing it, there will be some form of settings or profiles that designate what resolution, compression method, bit rate, et cetera - that the final video is being encoded at. Let me know exactly which editing program you are using (and what version number) and I should be able to find you a more specific answer. "I'm not a number, I'm a free man!" My video editing software is MAGIX Movie Edit Pro 11 Version 6.0.5.2 My camcorder is a Sony DCR-DVD306E shooting in PAL not NTSC Incidentally I'm measuring my screen sizes with a JP screen ruler... and I've checked them with GSpot v2.70a www.rockchicksandbikerbabes.co.uk
