Need advice on a download manager / accelerator Can anyone give me some advice on which download manager (free or pay) is best? I'm looking for something that is easy to use (for someone with limited computer skills) and won't screw up my computer. Advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks! M | |

I use Download Accelerator plus(dap), and are happy with it. I use the premium version but it also comes in a free version with some restrictions compared to the premium version. I can fully recommend both versions http://www.speedbit.com/dap Good luck:-) | |

Old thread, I know, but I have to praise DownThemAll one more time. It's free. It's a plug-in to the Firefox browser. It's easy to use for people like me that have limited tech skills and the effects are dramatic. I've been missing that 21Sextury style, so I rejoined PixandVideo, was trying to download a scene with IE - d/l speed was shit, wouldn't get above 84 kb/sec. So I decided to cancel my download after quite a bit of time to see if it would get better - it didn't. I logged into the site through Firefox, started a download of the same scene using DownThemAll - downloading now at over 400 kb/sec - 4 times as fast is pretty effective. I expect it to get up to 515 kb/sec, which is as fast as my internet provider seems to let it get. | |

First try www.filehippo.com A fine place for software - and most free. They recommend Orbit Downloader - and it's free. I use DownThemAll myself and have seen my download speeds increase dramatically. I would highly recommend it along with Firefox!  | |
