Golden Globes I seldom bother with award shows as I usually disagree with their choices for the winners. Last night was no exception. I loved the Martian, but best Comedy? Are they kidding? I think Game of Thrones should win in every category every year, so they picked Mr. Robot. I have never heard of the show. Has anybody seen it and can give an opinion? Also, do we have any GOT fans here? | |

I was a little flabbergasted that The Martian was in the Best Comedy category. I have seen it and yes, it had its funny moments, but I would never have thought to classify it as a comedy. Matt Damon was fantastic in it, though. I have also seen the whole season of Mr. Robot and it was a very good show. Thought-provoking with cool plot twists, I do think it was a deserved win. I say this having only seen the first episode of GOT, so perhaps I am not the best judge. I believe I have a few more months to get caught up for the new season.  I have also seen Joy and that is another film that I believe didn't make it into the correct category. Again, it had some humorous bits, but Trainwreck was much funnier. | |

The studio submitted The Martian as a comedy. They did that so it would have a better chance of winning Best Picture, which it did, without having too much competition in the Best Drama category. It's common practice during awards season. Mr Robot is actually a really good show. And I'm so happy Christian Slater won! I've loved him since Heathers. It's on USA Network. Hell, yeah, I'm a GOT fan! Love it. | |

Thanks for explaining that it was the studio's idea. Stunts like calling it a comedy are exactly why I don't like award shows. Using that logic, they could have nominated it as best foreign language cartoon, as I understand that category has only weak nominees this year. I hereby nominate The Martian for this years Rise Award for for best porn movie. The shame of it is that I rather liked the movie. | |
