What ruins a porn scene for you? We've all got our own peculiar tastes in porn and what we like to see, but there are some things I really like and some things even if its the hottest model puts me off completely in a scene - The first is upside down fucking, it's not hot and just makes the sex look lame. my friend and colleague Amanda and I have had the conversation about those brutally annoying camera sounds (clicking, etc) before so I am glad she also mentioned them in her post. So, I wanted to mention them again and also mention cameraman noises. you know when you can hear him breathing behind the camera while he films the scene? it is annoying, kind of creepy, and total boner-killer. I think someone else mentioned also, but how about at the end of a scene when they guy spends like 20 minutes jerking off while the girl is on her knees waiting for him to finally cum and you can see her getting bored and trying to do anything she can to encourage him so he can get hard enough to orgasm. In the end that stuff ends up being kind of funny to me, but my bigger question about those scenes is why the hell does the director leave it in? I 100% agree with all of this.  I actually like a number the things listed by the other posters, but camera noises drive me absolutely bonkers! I've straight up quit watching scenes with some of my favorite performers because of this. The extended masterbation finale is indeed a strange one. It seemed really popular in the mid-2000s gonzo. Not sure what the editors were thinking there. POV can be awesome, but it so rare to find good POV in my experience. My absolute favorite is Czech Spy, as they used non-intrusive camera glasses (like the Google Glass) that let the male talent use both his hands. They were so proud of the tech they often showed him putting it on in a mirror. Sadly, it only filmed in 720p, and they haven't updated in a year now. I keep nagging them though. (Czech AV is one of my favorite networks.) I've seen so many bad POVs though. Strange GoPro head camera attachments that caused the other performers to bend from lens distortion or sometimes they forgot to look at the camera which noticeably above the male talent's eyes, so it made it look like they were really interested in his chin or throat. Or even chest cameras so you felt like a dwarf with normal sized legs and arms. ATK Girlfriends has very nice video quality, but they treat it more like a home sextape rather than pure POV. Sometimes the camera is handed to the female performers so they can film their faces as they receive oral. The worst offense is the few times the camera has been handed to the third party during a threesome, completely destroying all aspects of the fantasy. I really have a problem with talking and/or groping by the camera person during a scene. I mostly watch solo scenes which tends to have this more present. Due to this being present in so many scenes that I have watched I actually watch 75% or more scenes with the sound completely down. It started from pointless banter, horrendous music, ridiculous moaning, and the such being so present that I have become accustomed to watching scenes without sound. I even have to remember to watch a bunch of scenes with sound when writing a review so I can include that kind of stuff. I suppose one dumb thing I hear or dislike can ruin a scene for me. Therefore, I just have trained myself to turn the sound completely off before something like that can happen. I guess it just helps me focus on the model presented without being distracted by things that I feel ruin a scene. The only genre of scenes that I turn sound on is if I'm watching a JOI/Dirty Talk kind of scene. I tend to know that something I may not like will possibly occur but at least I'm prepared lol. I don't watch much hardcore stuff so I don't know if I would prefer sound with those types of scenes. I could be overdoing it by not listening to anyone but it is what it is for me. Everyone has their tastes, but I must stand up and defend POV. Good POV, anyway. I will also say that camera clicking off-camera can be, though rarely is, hot in a sort of base, objectified way. But I agree in most cases it just comes off as both cheap and a misunderstanding of how porn is shot (videos and pictures are typically done separately). As to the topic at hand, for me it's simply the poor production/editing mentioned previously, like hearing the director give instruction in a scene where the director is not supposed to be acknowledged, or shaky camera work. If the goal is to create a fantasy, things that disrupt that fantasy makes it all fall down like a house of cards. Other things include: 1. Bad acting - I mean BAD acting. We already set the bar pretty low for pornography on the acting front, but when some people fall below THAT there is no amount of viagra that will get it going for me. This also includes looking into the camera or completely dropping the pretext of the scene once the fucking starts. 2. Long ejaculation sequences - This goes back to the poor editing, but some directors think that people want to see a dude furiously masturbating in front of a bored woman's face for several, seemingly infinite number of minutes. It's particularly funny when they do an obvious cut or wipe, suggesting that the dude has been doing this forever. BTW, these are all complaints from someone who has been embarrassed by the riches that porn has presented over the last 20 years, where you can seemingly get the EXACT thing you want in a scene. Previous to that, where getting your hands on a VHS that fit your specific taste or itch you had at that moment was a hell of a lot more complicated than people remember, I would've enjoyed black & white grainy footage of a honeymoon shot in the woods at midnight during the Eisenhower administration.
