Something that I think could help the "TBP" reviews is working on the categories.

The amateur category includes a vast number of sites that are full of established models - InFocusGirls is included in the amateur sections - why? There's nothing intended to be amateurish in their models or the way that they shoot them. I was looking in that section to see if there are any well-reviewed sites of the "GFRevenge" sort - where amateurs - models that don't have pages devoted to their appearances on many different sites in various forums - submit photos and get money if they are published.

But I couldn't even find a single review of that sort because the "Amateur" category is filled with the Nubiles, In Focus Girls, NaughtyAmerica, etc sites that are NOT amateur sites. You can call them that but it's like calling the sky "the floor".

I can see webmasters being defensive to such a con, but it's surprising to me that some users would want us to hold back in that regard.

With that said, I've instructed the reviewers to be more forgiving with image sites that are intended only as image sites.

It is useful info if a site has very few videos, though - even for us pic fans.

And when I blatantly see it, I do! But I'm sure there are some aspects that I miss, or don't touch on enough, and maybe even others that I give too much credit to. I am certainly not perfect, and my tastes are ultimately personal. After seeing so many sites, so much porn, I tend to enjoy a little more kink and typically prefer hardcore scenes more than soft. It's not easy to be a well-rounded reviewer, yet try for expertise at different niches.

I also know I tend to be "nicer" in terms of scoring than some of the other reviewers, which was different when all our scores were combined to an average. I don't think we have too many sites above 90, do we? The curve has to start somewhere, right? There is no easy answer but I do appreciate Rick for getting the discussion going. Many of you make good points, and the passion from Porn Users is one of the things that motivate me to consistently put 100% effort into my job. I also think the combination of TBP & PU is the best of the best in terms of gaining perspective from all angles.

I agree - it's a different perspective to be reviewing a site from the stand-point of someone that is comparing the site to lots of other sites than it is to be reviewing from the perspective of someone that has paid money for the site.

The latter is going to be a more subjective review - in most cases. And that's perfectly fine so long as the reviewer states their reasons for liking or disliking the site - I really don't care for fake boobs, I really dis-like photo-shopping, A guy talking in a vid is a buzz-kill for me, etc.

I agree, our niches need major help. Will take time but I do have a plan to resolved these issues. Thanks for your input PP! The Best Porn - Ultimate Consumer Guide to Porn

Sorry for being late on this one, but there is a review I'm about to do and wanted to mention a difference in mine and the TBP site facts. I don't know if it would just be better to let the PU reviews cover this, but here is the problem.

The site is Gigi Spice's solo site. The site facts show around 120 videos, but these videos are parts. In the site's defense the most parts I've seen are 3 to make a full scene and each part is usually in the 15 minute range. Also those videos are very high technical quality (1280x720 6000 bitrate) so to release them as one whole scene would be a huge file of 1.6 GB to 2.2 GB. It still kind of throws the numbers off since it looks more like maybe 60-70 scenes than 120.

And I know that would add a lot of work, but just thought I would throw that one in.

The only other thing that stands out is with the 2.0 grade sheet with letter grades and the note that says those grades have no effect on the score. Is that note there just to stop members/webmasters from adding up the letter grades in numbers and complaining about the final score? I always used the old points breakdown to deduct points from the final TBP score. Like with a site that scored perfect on "streaming" and I never stream, so I would remove those points from the score. Download options wouldn't matter much either since I just take the highest quality option. Maybe some way to emphasize a site's strongest and weakest point beyond just pros and cons or would just cause more confusion trying to weigh those?

TBP is still light years ahead of the other porn review sites though. My first time I jacked off, I thought I'd invented it. I looked down at my sloppy handful of junk and thought, This is going to make me rich. - Chuck Palahniuk

At minimum, I always try to describe what type of content they offer (nude? non-nude? hardcore, softcore?), if the models are hotter (or uglier) than usual, or anything else interesting.

However, if you look at the number of sites reviewed per week, there are quite a few of them. In any given week or month, there are very few unique or original sites or scenes to comment on. It's difficult to get excited about a site that offers the same type of content as 90% of the other sites we look at. As I said, I do my best, but more often than not, there's just not a lot to say. The other 10% always get special consideration and info give, within reason of course.

From there, it's tough to even know what to comment on really. One guy might get turned off by fake boobs, while another doesn't mind them. The same goes for MILFs, Latina girls, Russian girls, girls who don't talk, girls who talk too much, camera men who ask too many questions, cumshots in the wrong place, etc. There are way too many personal tastes to comment on all of them. On top of that, so many people's interests are opposite of each other. I have a friend who loves to see cum all over a girl's face and in her mouth, and another friend who never wants to see it at all, period. Which side should I write about? Usually, the scenes are so middle of the road that nothing really gets mentioned either way.

I guess I just wanted to let you know that it's always on my mind at least, even if there's not a lot to talk about at times.

I think it would be GREAT to have a more formal rating/critique of the type of women on a site. I realize it is subjective but I'm sure I'm not alone in being interested in the type of women you'll see once you join a site.

I prefer the hardcore stuff myself most of the time but I don't get how you placed Only Cuties right in the middle of the top 10 sites. I took a look in '08 and the technical aspects were great but the actual content I didn't really find inspiring. Are the more recent updates that much better?

Sorry, I digress.
