Currency problems - protests does it - sometimes. Still quite a few - major and minor - sites has problems where the price in different currency does not ad up - where the price is stated at the site at, say $ 29.95 and you get to join from Europe; now the price is $36.43 (or alike) OR Euro 29.95. And it's typical where CCBill is the billing co. BUT three times I've found some sites like that and wanted to join, I wrote the siteowners/webmaster and - yes.... - the policy changed: New and updated price-policy without difference. So fellow PU's: "Write your congressman" or rather the webmaster of a site with bad currency-policy...before joining..and wait - you may succeed. Good to see you're carrying on the protest. Time is money, so even if they don't reduce the ripoff prices for Europeans, they still have to deal with the enquiry. It also lets them know they are losing customers, if you don't subscribe after you complain to them about the regional discrimination. My cure is very simple. If they have regional discrimination, don't subscribe. This is the only way to make it disappear. Carry on the good work Denner. | |

Well, Squirrel - just joined My Sexy Kittens - AND after writing webmaster less than a week ago the result was: euro 19.95 OR $ 24.95 (and not $29.74 as stated at TBP)(so I joined in dollars) - still waiting for answers from a couple of other sites. But nothing comes easy: Wrote Teenrotica three times - still nothing - that may also tell something about their service-level towards customers in general... (apart from the fact that quite a few PUs has been warning about this particular site - still wouldn't mind taking a new look - was last a member two years ago). Normally there is a list where it's stated "contact" or alike - look for any place where there is an mail-adress for support og somebody else at the preview of the site... It's as close as I can come right now - will take a look at NS later - or bet somebody else here at PU will know the exact place to contact NS... I have just sent the following email to Epoch billing concerning New Sensations. I followed the link from The Best Porn in order to get the New Sensations $14.95 offer. I found the site seems to support regional discrimination. The price is now £13.95. I find this an insult and am urging everyone on Porn Users to boycott these sites. I would never join a site that discriminates against me in this way. I have heard the arguments for this sort of discrimination, and I find them dishonest and an insult. It's just best to say "we are going to get out of you what we can, as europeans are stupid enough to pay more for the same service. Not me. | |

I have sent similar mails to Epoch but they state it is the webowners problem: I should contact webmaster/owner instead. | |

I can "somehow" understand that US sites had slightly higher prices for non US members a year ago when the dollar kept falling and they saw an opportunity to charge more in UK or euro currency. But now the dollar is at an all time high and the difference is very often huge, I am often charged 40% more than Americans and since my currency has dropped 30% against USD the last 4 months it is now VERY expensive for me to buy porn. I think the online porn companies are doing a big mistake charging more to non US customers, at the moment is should be the other way round if they would like to maximize the profits! Compare with how comparable service like Apple's ITunes or Microsoft's Xbox marketplace is handling it: these companies try to keep prices pretty fair gloabally and still somehow related to the local pricing structure, thereby maximizing sales and profits while keeping customers happy. | |

I just get the warm glow of satisfaction from knowing that sort of organisation will never get my money. If I was really desperate to get their stuff I would download it for free. But it's just the same as all the other stuff anyway. There's plenty of legit sites that don't practice regional discrimination. None of those that do will ever get my money. I have no problems about ripping that sort of company off and downloading for free, but those sites don't have such outstanding stuff, that it's really worth searching the file sharing sites for. | |
