More trouble for AbbyWinters? * Keith Moor * From: Herald Sun * December 29, 2009 11:08AM SEX website boss Garion Hall has been charged with child pornography offences after Victoria Police raided his business and seized footage of allegedly illegal sex acts. Mr Hall has also been charged with 54 counts of making objectionable films for gain and possessing a commercial quantity of objectionable films. The charges relate to sexually explicit DVDs allegedly made by his multi-million-dollar company, G Media. Mr Hall, 35, of Heidelberg, is due to appear in Melbourne Magistrates' Court on January 27 to face 57 charges. Two of Mr Hall's former models yesterday accused G Media of exploiting them and other nude models by not warning them it was illegal to profit from making objectionable films in Victoria. The women, who appear on the G Media website as Blaire and Melita, claimed G Media used large cash incentives to lure naive women into performing sex acts on camera. "Many G Media models are teenagers or students who are hard up for money and the offer of cash in hand certainly entices them to go much further than they would otherwise," Blaire, 23, said. "What they don't realise is once those sexually explicit images are on a DVD or website then they are there forever and may come back to haunt them when they are older and wiser." Melita, 24, who used to work in G Media's office as well as model for the sex site, said she was horrified when G Media refused a plea from a pregnant Sudanese woman to remove explicit photographs of her from the website. "Her father found out about her nude modelling, which included shots of her heavily pregnant," she said. "He threatened to kill her and her unborn child if the photographs and videos were not removed so she begged G Media to get rid of them. "After her request was refused, the Sudanese community was so fearful for this young woman's safety that members had a collection and then offered to pay G Media to take down the offending photographs. "That request was also refused and those photographs are still on the site and making money for G Media. "Another of our models died soon after posing and some of her friends suggested the explicit shots should be removed as a mark of respect. "G Media refused and the shots of the dead woman -- who was only 19 -- are still on the site." The Herald Sun revealed details in June of raids by Yarra CIU detectives on several G Media premises, including its head office in Fitzroy. Computer records and DVDs allegedly containing material too graphic to be legally made in Victoria were among items seized. Mr Hall was arrested at his Heidelberg home during the June raids. He was released after being questioned and was charged last week. Sarcasm is a body's natural defense against stupidity.

Two of Mr Hall's former models yesterday accused G Media of exploiting them and other nude models by not warning them it was illegal to profit from making objectionable films in Victoria. That's a strange rubberband term "objectionable films": "Right girls, before you agree to appear in our videos you should know that they'll be illegal if anyone happens to find them objectionable..." ?? The women, who appear on the G Media website as Blaire and Melita, claimed G Media used large cash incentives to lure naive women into performing sex acts on camera. "Many G Media models are teenagers or students who are hard up for money and the offer of cash in hand certainly entices them to go much further than they would otherwise," Blaire, 23, said. "What they don't realise is once those sexually explicit images are on a DVD or website then they are there forever and may come back to haunt them when they are older and wiser." I don't see the issue, they're grown-ups and have to deal with the consequences of their decisions. Someone abusing a position of authority at for instance a college or similar to recruit models for nude/sex shoots would be a problem, but otherwise it's just people making a possibly foolish decision without thinking it through, happens all the time. If AW inform their models that they're shooting for a website then I don't see what else they can do, it's not their problem if the models don't realize that there'll be people around the world saving naked pictures of them. The case with the Sudanese woman fearing for her life (how did her father find out that his daughter was on a nude-website btw?) is unusually extreme and if it was me running a site I probably would have removed the content with her, but it's not like every model is putting her life on the line to shoot this stuff.

I'm not surprised that the Government is going after Porn makers and distributors. It's an easy crusade and you are certain to get a lot of media attention which in turn will get you many votes for any upcoming election. The fact that they picked Abby Winter isn't a surpise either because they are a very big organisation. I doesn'y make much sense to go after a little fish since it won't get you as much media attention and frankly people might not recognize the offender(s). Saying that what Abby Winter makes is offensive is really stretching the definition, but because the legal definition is vague then it opens the door to unscrupeless lawyers/politicins and what not. Why should we be surprised that Abby Winter is atarget when we have our own strange crusade agains Evil Angel and John Stagliano. Both are dubious at best and a complete waste of tax payers money but that won't stop the Government from doing it. As for those girls saying that they were coerced and dupped well if Government offical were putting pressure on me about my actions then I might be inclined to say that. These are still very young women and who knows what they werer told. I wouldn't put it past an official implying prison and so forth. It would be a he said she said scenario and we know the Government would win that argument. Long live the Brown Coats.

As you nearly imply Pat, it is often used as a ploy by politicians and others to divert attention away from their own misdeeds. ;0) Cap'n. :0/ Admiral of the PU Hindenburg. 2009 PU Award Hilarious Post of the Year 2010 PU Award ( I would have preferred it to be Helpful Post of the Year for Guys who Hate 'Retail Therapy' ) :0/ Sanity is in the eye of the Beholder!

"The women, who appear on the G Media website as Blaire and Melita, claimed G Media used large cash incentives to lure naive women into performing sex acts on camera." I thought that's what the business was all about: offer the models/performers money in order to make money in return by making the videos/pictures of them public. However, I despise Abby Winters' unwillingness to give the Sudanese woman a break. In her culture being killed for the offense of posing pregnant (or otherwise) is a real possibility. A big contemptuous raspberry to Mr. Hall.

I still think that this could be a kind of scare tactic used on these women by the Government to entice them to testify against the G Media so that in turn the Government will actually have a case against Abby Winters. If not then they may have a seriously hard time getting this to trial and not looking really stupid. I agree that in the case of the Sudanese woman they should simple absorb the lost since they have in fact paid her to pose nude and then she comes forward and says that for her safety they should take the photo down. I'm pretty sure she knew exactly what she was doing when she did the shoot so it's not like she can claim ignorence but I believe it's better to be safe. If this is a scam then she isn't likely to ever be able to do it to anyone else anyway. Her reputation will be made. Long live the Brown Coats.

This was probably a case where she figured that the folks back home would never find out. Sudan, after all, isn't exactly the most wired country. And then the proverbial sh*t hit the fan. There is no doubt that if she was truly from the Sudan it could turn into a life or death matter. Same reason why you find so few real Indian models in DVDs that profess to feature them. Most are either Brazilian or light skinned Afro-Americans because in India, too, family honor is highly prized and it wouldn't be the first time that a girl/woman got killed by her own family for "disgracing" them in one way or the other.

It is a bit unclear what specifically he is being charged with. Are the women on the site underage and they are lying when they say they are of age? The case involving the Sudanese woman is indeed extreme and I'm disappointed they couldn't make an allowance in that case. But it must be understood by women who pose nude for money on the Internet that literally anyone can see your photos if you do. I think that women who pose nude sometimes are naive or something and imagine that men who are close to them in various ways either won't see the photos or won't react to them. However, men love to see women nude, and that includes the women whom they know in real life. It does not matter if the woman posing nude on a website is a man's friend, ex-girlfriend, acquaintance, classmate, employee, supervisor, sister, daughter or mother--if she is attractive and is posing nude, there is a good chance he will want to see her nude. In certain cases, it is true, he too will want to keep it anonymous. And it does, in practice, happen that men do find women they know in real life posing on these sites. I have seen my own mother nude on ifriends.net. Many women have been seen by classmates or friends. I think there is an expectation that it be handled in a mature way by all concerned. AW does provide the following warning on its model page: Q: What if I get busted by my boss / family / boyfriend? A: Being busted naked on the internet can be a big deal for some models. Imagine how you'd feel if your brother, or your boyfriend, or your boss found your images. Would you lose you job? Be disowned by your family? If so, you should probably not do nude modeling. Getting back to the Sudanese woman, I do realize that risking losing a job or being disowned is not the same thing as risking losing one's life. However, I also am aware that this puts AW in an awkward position, because if they acquiesced easily to this request, then any model could claim to have been threatened and get their photos removed. However, I am confused as to the physical location of the parties involved. Where was the father when he was making these threats? If the father was in Australia, then it is a matter for the police in Australia. If he was in Sudan, then it is unclear how she got from Australia to Sudan. AW only does shoots in Australia. The article says she was already very pregnant when photographed. Usually airlines do not accept passengers at a late stage of pregnancy, yet the article claims she was still pregnant when the father was making the threats. The bottom line is I feel there is probably more to the story of the Sudanese woman than we've been told, but I am obviously concerned if her life is truly in danger.
