Any helpful hints? I subscribe to a site that believes in pop-unders and have no idea how to stop those with my Firefox. I have the pop-up blocker on, of course. Any ideas? Am I missing some sort of tweak under "options" with which I could prevent this? I embarrassed myself today when I closed Forefox in a hurry and the Porn pop-under was still there. :-)

I had to do a little research for this one and this is the best I could come up with. 1. Open Mozilla Firefox 2. In the URL field type "about:config" and press enter. 3. This should open the Firefox config window. 4. Right-click anywhere in lower window and click "New" and then "Integer" 5. For the preference name type "privacy.popups.disable_from_plugins" and click Ok. 6. For the value type "2" Also, go to the "privacy.popups.firstTime" line and change the value of this setting to "false". Keep in mind that this could affect popups you actually want, in which case you'd have to go back and undo the changes to see them. Sarcasm is a body's natural defense against stupidity.

Thanks a million, RB, amazing how you always come up with the answers! At the same time those changes make me nervous, because as you said, they could change something I want. So I'll have to wait until I get up enough courage to fiddle with basic configurations. :-(

You're very welcome. Believe me, I understand your hesitation, but keep in mind that this isn't like messing with the registry in Windows where some changes can leave your PC unbootable. Any changes you make in Firefox can be easily undone. Same deal as last time - If you're worried about forgetting what changes you've made, just keep a notepad handy to remind you of which lines you've changed and the original values. Then, if something doesn't do what you want it to do, it's a simple matter of returning things to their original state. Sarcasm is a body's natural defense against stupidity.
