Perhaps the "free" Roxio is different than my Roxio Creator (cost about 80 bucks) which I use for still photos and creating both DVD's & CD's that work - In my DVD player attached to my TV or through my stereo if listening to music on my CD player. And I have a Dell. In fact I've recommended the Roxio Creator for DVD's cause of it's editing features which allows me to cut scenes, add scenes, add music and/or comments, or text captions and graphics for intro's or at the end. I've made video's from porn downloads and photographs from friends and families personal lives which have more than impressed the recipients. For $80 that I spent on the Roxio software, it has been way more than I'd expected with this one caveat - You need some computing power to do it and disk space to store it. If you don't have the overhead then it will SUCK big time. Which I would believe to be true of any movie editing software, freeware or not. Is it worth investing in the hardware & software to get the job done? Well it depends on how much you want to view it on your TV. and good luck with that one... I don't think you get what I said - though one would be able to rip vids, that's not what I do - I purchased it for ripping vids of my gaming activities and extending purchased downloads. Let me be perfectly clear - I DO NOT RIP PORN VIDS. And I thought the discussion was that people paid for DRM and then lost the vid after they stopped subscribing to the site which I was offering a solution to those who had paid for the vid in the first place. Perhaps you feel that this is still a bad solution - In fact, I have a feeling that you really don't even need Fraps to do this, just the video editing program, though I don't know if it's in a special format (i.e., need a downloaded viewer from the DRM site.) or what - In that case you'd probably need Fraps. Or I'm totally wrong inasmuch as the provider gets to play by their rules and you just need to give up the content. At any rate, DRM is not the type of service I would subscribe to because if I'm paying for content then I'm wanting to keep it. DRM is sort of like a strip club - looky but no nooky. I am going to make a suggestion here to deal with such bullcrap as Ergo was speaking of. Invest in a program called Fraps which will pull anything off a screen projector - I started using it to "film" battles for my guild in WOW. Fraps will usually capture in 4-5 min AVI segments, though it will do it continually without your intervention. Then you would need a very simple program to take the AVI files and stitch them together &/or put them in another format (this probably being better because the AVI files are rather large - apx 4 gigs a segment). I use a suite called Roxio Creator which allows me some editing features including different tracks to record sound (I like a little background music with my porn)and also burn them on DVD (or Blu Ray if you have it) for viewing on TV. You will not lose much video quality during this process and one of the main things I like about it is, I can edit out video I have no interest in. For instance, while I don't use the Fraps capture with downloaded vids like PornPros, I do like editing out all the crap except the oral scenes, though I will admit to using Fraps to extend certain scenes and cutting them in for my viewing pleasure. Ok, maybe you have to be a bit of nerd to do this, but seriously I not enjoyed my porn as much without it. If it ain't grits, it must be a Yankee. Well Drooler, If I'm queuing the act and trying to find a site perhaps that caters to that, I have to call it something. So - I found a new word today. Spit-Roasted. For those of you newbies (like I am/was), spit roasting is boffing the ass end and mouth at the same time. Since I have not only my niche but my favorite performers, I usually skip around once a month and download a crap load (if it's there) off a site. Which of course means I have to weed out. The perfect scenario would be to find 12 sites (or six at a minimum) to cycle through. Price makes a difference - I might have an interest in a set of sites but if they want to charge me more on the front end then less as time goes on, I'm more than likely not going to do business with them. Mess - My point is, I think the porn sites set what is in the supply and demand not the consumer. It's like going to a store in the USSR back in the day. They had just one type of widget to buy so that's what you bought. I don't think they actually listen to what we want. How many times has it been posted "We don't like seeing guys masturbate onto girls faces for the money shot" but what do we get... almost 100% of the time. If they listened then you'd think you'd be seeing a different type of money shot. We get what we get not cause we want it but because that's all there is and we have nothing else to choose from. That is there business model. Also if the porn sites are not asking what people want they will never offer anything more. So if you're only offering one thing, it's easy to say "that's what they want". My feeling is that very few porn producers give a flying fuck what you want - or are very innovative in what they have to offer. I say this cause if they did, the business model would be very different than what you see now and they would be asking for feedback or requests or any line of communication. I've left comments on Evil Angel website that say will be posted in 24 hours and are NEVER posted. And it's a site I pretty well like, but there are some things I'd like to suggest they consider but I think it just falls on deaf ears. If I want to reach a director like Darkko, I have to use AVN talk forum or Twitter - Certainly the porn sites don't care. Sorry for the blast but this is sort of a sore subject. I'm on it with an alter-ego for friends and family - but they could not find me unless I invited them first since I do a good job on the alter-ego bit. I don't give a real BD or where I live. It's another way to stay in touch - easy to do, quick, etc. post photos or see photos of friends and family. If they (Big Brother) want to find you, regardless of what forums, or use of the internet you do, they'll find you, so one more isn't going to make a damn bit of difference. Inasmuch as I personally have favorite stars that I would follow to different sites, the pay for scene idea is attractive. Also since I am on a budget when it comes to shopping porn, it makes it difficult to pay 29 bucks for one scene (though I've done it). As far as a web operator is concerned, one has to decide if people are attracted to the site for a particular performer or the overall content. It would seem, if priced correctly, it would be an attractive arrangement for them since it could increase their revenues rather than decrease them. Using your current monthly revenue as a baseline, offering an additional service of "per scene purchase" should push revenues up since it would be geared to a different audience than what is currently there. Perhaps Grey you are unaware, and it's too damn late now anyway, but there are ways to transfer those to digital format. A lot of the old stuff is coming out on DVD anyway so I would fret about it now. I have to take my downloads as it is and edit it down to a viewing level. It's just stupid how much stuff there is that catch's your eye but after going back and doing a critical review you want to get rid of except maybe for a couple mins of the whole scene. I use to do some video production in the 70s (not porn but public access TV) and in our organization, if you shot it you had to edit it too, which I found somewhat painful. I enjoyed the shooting but not the editing. So now I enjoy the viewing but not the editing. Painful I'm telling you! A review - it's not a kiss ass but a review - good, bad and the ugly. If you feel a certain way about a site, then express it. While not everyone reading it will have your taste in porn, it still is a review. As far as "sensitive" web masters, let'em bleed.
