An interesting question posed by the RearAdmiral. ( I realize this thread is a bit out of date, but I just spotted it, so I will reply even though it is a bit long in the tooth) First let me note that the Admiral is Canadian, and there may be some of us in the US who have a different perspective because of where we are. Yes I will admit, that about 3 years ago on my last visit to Canada, I did enjoy the company of an escort. I contacted her through an established service in the Niagara Falls Ontario area. Hard for me to understand how you can say that 99% could vote one way, and yet electors for state could be other way, but since each state may select their own method of selecting electors, I guess I can't judge how your state, I don't know which one it is, sets things up. Here in Wisconsin (battle ground state this year) I will be very happy when the election is done, as I have been inundated with political robo calls for the last month or so. I would really like my telephone back.   If I had my way, and could change the electoral vote process, it would be that the winner in each congressional district gets one electoral vote, and the winner of the state as a whole gets two extra votes because of the senators. I think Maine does it this way, and this makes more sense to me. This could be done without a constitutional amendment! And while it would not be "direct" popular voting, I think it would make the election process more national, and move us from thinking only of the 5 or 6 swing states as is done now. Well that is my 2¢ worth. | |

For some reason, I can't help thinking of an old novel named "The Mouse that Roared". I suppose the Luxembourgers would not appreciate my thoughts. Old royalty, is just the "movie stars" of the 12th century who have managed to hang onto their old money, and yet their celebrity is a bit more entertaining, more pomp, more ceremony, than the modern movie star type. | |

Gotta jump in and comment here. Pat has found the only porn that I know of that really does take the time to build the scenes slowly, sensuously, but still eventually get to the harder core.
