I'm 100% for free speech, but we all have to remember something here. The law is written in such a fashion that it holds the producer of these materials accountable to the "community standards" in which they are being sold. Guys like Max Hardcore, Ray Guhn, and Extreme Associates are pushing the envelope on purpose. As a result, they are putting the progress that has been made over the past couple of decades at risk. Community standards are evolving all the time, and all over the United States. If the producers of adult materials would simply stay in sync with the times, the community standards will continue to evolve towards more and more tolerance for varying views and interests. If they want to exceed the lowest threshhold of tolerance in this country currently, then they should produce their materials in Germany where they won't hurt the overall progress that mainstream producers have kept in sync with over the past couple of decades. I, too, used to enjoy Max Hardcore's vids back in the early 90's. But this guy clearly took a turn towards a level of depravity that few people are interested in these days. Don't get me wrong, I completely believe that he has a right to produce whatever he wants as long as no one is getting hurt and everyone is a consenting adult. That having been said, he should have known that the time is not yet right in this country to produce that level of extreme porn because folks simply haven't developed a concurrent level of tolerance yet. Surely these website operators know full well that most new members only sign up intending to stay for a month or so, just long enough to get all the vids they can. Then, of course, the member intends to quit and, if he likes the site, come back every once in a while to get another one month "fix." But with the recurring structure, they can count on some members simply forgetting to cancel the membership in time to avoid another month's charge, or they will also get the members who stay out of the convenience factor. They simply put off cancelling because it's a hassle. Don't get me wrong, there are sites where the chemistry between the starlet and the member's likes are a good match, and they resultingly stay for a while. But those are probably the exception. I usually quit even the ones I like and then come back every six months or year to the next update. The Dude

Going to the adult book store was always a risky proposition back in the day. You could be seen by someone you know and suffer through the inevitable embarrasment. It was also expensive - those magazines, like the hardcore Puritan type, were not cheap. Then, of course, there was the hassle factor. You had to actually make an effort to get to the materials, ie. drive there. These days, you can see absolutely anything (within reason) that you want to online. You don't risk being seen by someone from work. Also, it is hugely convenient because it's much easier to get online than it is to drive to a brick & mortar store. But, of course, the real advantage of the PC versus the brick & mortar store is that you can do a lot of versatile things with an electronic file. If you download a movie from your favorite site, you can watch it on your PC, you can transfer it to a DVR and watch it on your big screen TV, or you can even convert the file to an MPEG 4 and watch it on your iPod Touch! The file is yours and you can take it with you to watch whenever and wherever you want. The convenience factor is definitely going to bring down the old Adult Book/Video Store. The Dude

The main motivator for me is the girl - if there's something about her that turns me on in a particular way that makes me "have" to join, then I'll give it a try. There should also be some variety - too many of these solo girl sites just show the girl doing the same thing over and over again. The Dude
