Hey folks, I've been poking my head in from time-to-time and am happy to see Amanda and the Rabbit's crew taking such good care of everything after the transition. Hell, they even got a raffle re-started and I know you've got to be loving that. See, I said I was leaving you in good hands. BTW, we have their permission to make this post so no-one is stepping on any toes. Well, we told you we'd keep you posted on what's happening with MyPorn and that's why I'm here today. There have been more than a few delays and the site has evolved a lot since it was first planned. But, we're excited to let you know we've officially launched MyPorn for alpha testing/preview. It's not open to the public yet. In fact, so far it's just been webmasters and industry insiders who we've let in. However, we're at the point where we want to bring in a handful of end-users and your loyalty over the years has earned you top of the list privileges. Besides, we can't think of any group of folks who are more expert in using porn sites than you. We would love to get some feedback from you porn experts on how you think things look early on. So here's the deal ... I have some invite codes to give away to some of the regulars here. We'll want you to look around the site, test out the bells and whistles, and let us know what you think. To make that possible and by way of saying thank you for your time and effort, we're giving those selected $100 US in free credits to use to check the site out. To get an idea of what the site is now, you might want to drop by MyPorn.com and watch the short introduction video. If that looks like something you'd like to help test out, contact us at admin [at] MyPorn [dot] com with the subject link "PU Special Invite". Be sure to include your PU user name so we know who you are and a good email address that you check regularly. It goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway, you won't be added to any list and the only thing that address will be used for is this special invite. We’re extremely proud of the results of all our hard work and can't wait to share it with you. There is a limit to how many of the early invites (and $100 credits) we can give out so we can't promise that we'll be able to take everyone who applies. Still, we'll let in as many as we can. To those who don't get one of the invites this time, our beta version (group A & B) should be up sometime in April. On the off chance you haven't signed up yet, you may want to do that while you're at MyPorn.com. Before I go it bears repeating ... There's a good chance I'll still be wandering around PU for a short time yet but before I'm totally gone, I wanted to take a moment to say a few things. I've been with PornUsers since before it launched for beta testing. I've watched it change and grow over the years. It has grown into something that, in my opinion, is quite unique on the web. A large part of that has to do with you, the core users of PU. Sure, I like to think that, to some small degree, I've helped you get more out of PU. If I haven't, I can only say it was not from lack of trying. But you are the real heros that go a long way to making PornUsers what it is. For that, I thank you. I know that after we discontinued the raffle and Rick announced MyPorn, the participation at PU went downhill somewhat. I hope that even though Rick's attention was shifted to MyPorn, that you never felt that user support here at PU was forgotten. It wasn't. Since it opened, PU was the first thing I check on-line in the morning and the last thing I checked before turning in at night ... often in the wee hours of the morning ... nights, weekends and holidays. It was the least I could do to ensure our users had the best experience possible. But what I really want to stress with this post is this ... I have managed online communities of one kind or another since the mid 1980's. Yeah, you read that right, 30+ years. I've managed communities that covered a broad spectrum of interest. From the new member forum at CompuServe to a private community for MiscoSoft VIPs. From ya-ya new-agers to adult webmasters in the early wild-wild-west days of the web. So, it goes without saying, I've see all kinds of communities and user interaction. And yes, most recently, a community for people who sign up for adult pay sites. Having seen all that, I can say ... without any reservation ... that the group of users here at PornUsers has been the best of the lot. Despite discussing topics covering many otherwise taboo subjects ... and despite the polarizing attitudes on certain niches ... you have been the most adult, the most considerate, and the most civil group of any that I've had the pleasure of managing a community for. So I want to say a most sincere thank you. Over the years we've weathered a few storms and dealt with a few who did their best to cause hate an chaos. But even in those worst of times I knew I could depend on you, the core users here, to help keep PU from turning into just another of those online forums where bickering and name calling are the everyday norm. So, for your patience and support during those times, again, I thank you. I'll be keeping an eye on PornUsers for a long time to come. What can I say, old habits are hard to break. From time-to-time, new owner's permitting, I may jump into a discussion or two. Of course, once it opens you'll also be able to find me sweeping the floors over at MyPorn.com. They'll be forums there and I certainly hope to see a few of you poke your heads in to say howdy to an old friend. Over the years, I've had email exchanges with a number of you. I'm sorry to report that Sir Christopher Lee has died at 93 With more than 150 film credits to his name, I was a fan of his work in many of them. I suppose I remember him best for his work in horror movies. In the US today, it's a legal holiday ... Veteran's Day. In a few other countries, it's called Armistice Day or just Remembrance Day. Whatever you call it, it is a day set aside to remember and honor those who have served in the military. On this day, I'd like to offer thoughts and prayers to those who have served and those who are currently in the military and to their families who endure their absence. In case you hadn't heard, Sept 10th (today) has been set aside as a day of protest over Net Neutrality. You'll likely see a number of sites with a "loading" graphic to draw attention to this issue. On September 10th, sites across the web will display an alert with a symbolic "loading" symbol (the proverbial “spinning wheel of death”) and promote a call to action for users to push comments to the FCC, Congress, and the White House. In the US today, it's a legal holiday ... Veteran's Day. Technically yesterday was Veteran's day but today is the day it's observered this year. In a few other countries, it's called Armistice Day or just Remembrance Day. Whatever you call it, it is a day set aside to remember and honor those who have served in the military. On this day, I'd like to offer thoughts and prayers to those who have served and those who are currently in the military. A special "prayer" to all those who have given the ultimate sacrifice. In addition, I want to offer thoughts and prayers to the leaders that send these brave men and women into harms way. May your decisions always be just and honorable. May you never think that war, in any of its guises, is just a power game to aid your personal agendas. For those that do the dirty "work" of war, it is a deadly serious business. Do not make light of their commitment and willingness to fight your battles, even if they don't always agree with your reasons. They deserve more. Blessing to all Vets, past and present. Just a reminder that today is election day (for US users). Be sure to go out and vote. I know, the system sucks and most of the canidates are not as good as we'd like, still, if we don't vote, we lose the right to complain. The Super Bowl is this Sunday. I haven't caught a game in ages but I know some folks go absolutely crazy over the Super Bowl. As I do every year, as sort of a public service announcement, I want to remind you about Valentine's Day. As it happens, I'm a little late this year since TODAY is Valentine's Day. I know, I should have reminded you earlier but at least you know now. I recall that a fair few regard this as a "mean nothing" holiday and if that's your choice, so be it. To those on the fence I'd simply remind you of what myself and some of the other older ones here have learned over the years ... it doesn't matter what she says, Valentine's day is important to her. Me, I'm covered. I took her to dinner this past weekend and got her some flowers. This morning I was ready with a small box of candy and a mushy card. You do what feels right for you and your lady.
