Reading some of the remarks here about a "Generation gap" (including the recent thread of that name) reminded me of the Beloit Midset List®. For a number of years, the Beloit College has published a mindset list who's aim is to help professors better communicate and relate to the incoming students. For those not familiar with the list, the concept is to frame the "world" the new students grew up in and be aware of how some of YOUR phrases and ideas might be totally lost on the new generation. For several years, I've reminded folks in the adult industry about the list because the 18 yr olds it's written about are the same 18 yr olds who are now the newest potential customers for our adult sites ... and as it happens ... the youngest PU's. So, without further ado ... Beloit College's Mindset List® for the class of 2013 Anyhoo .. I always find it an interesting read. It's also fun to read some of the previous years since I'm too old to get some of the things the current list referrs to. I just mentioned this in another thread (star trek) but as I don't want to hijack that thread, thought I'd bring it up here in case folks want to discuss it. BTW, it also ties in with a previous poll question we ran: Should women have the right to go topless in the same public places men do? I came across an interesting tid-bit the other day, thought I'd share. I read that, in New York, it's legal for women to go topless any place men are allowed to be topless. Great news but, why am I just now hearing about this? What got me started on this was stumbling across http://www.gotopless.org Now there's a movement I can heartly support. Seems they have a rally in some of the major cities in Aug. Personally, I've always wondered why women's groups have allowed such an un-equal application of the law to be applied all these years. At the request/suggestion of our users, we took another look at some of the older Trust Ratings and decided to make a small change. Back in Nov of 2007 we started requiring that No Trust ratings contain a comment. This was so the ratings could be constructive. At the time, we allowed all the older No ratings to stay, even if they didn't have a reason given. Some time has passed since we made that change and we've decided that we'll drop all earlier No Trust ratings that do not carry a comment. So effective immediately, you may see a change to the total number of Trust ratings shown on your account. Note we are *only* removing NO ratings that didn't have a comment. If it was an earlier YES rating or if the early NO rating had a reason, it will remain. We decided to leave the older YES ratings so no-one would suddenly lose a (hard earned) Trust badge. If there is anyone who cast an anonymous No Trust rating earlier still wants to give a user a No Trust vote, they are welcome to recast their vote but will now be required to leave a comment with the reason. We hope our users are happy with this change. Just a quick heads up for the Users who've selected egold as their choice for raffle winnings ... Seems egold is going through some changes right now. They're starting to require a bunch of VERY SPECIFIC documents for ID. In the meantime, they've suspended all spending activity until they get their system sorted out. So, at least for the time being, you may want to switch your preference to Amazon or eBay gift certificates. Along those lines .... We're always on the lookout for alternative systems that will allow other options for raffle payments. Obviously, they need to allow adult related participation. Many of the hopefuls we've looked at will not allow anything remotely related to the adult web. We really prefer a gift-certificate type of set-up if possible. So, if you know of any, feel free to send your suggestions to "support [at] pornusers [dot] com" Note that new additions must be gift certificates of some kind ... all other "cash" merchants have been a pain to work with and eventually don't work out. In another thread there was some mention of common online acronyms. Which reminded me ... Back when I worked with the DoD we had a reference book with the title "ABRACADABRA" but it wasn't about the ancient magical term. Rather, it was a book listing acronyms and their meanings. Which brings me to say ... This is the Official ABRACADABRA Thread ! Just a quick reminder .... Be sure to check your profile from time-to-time to ensure your email address is a valid/working address. We've had several Users lately who've experienced problems that could have been avoided if they'd kept their address current. Regular users can vouch for the fact that we don't share your address with anyone and we never send you spam. Still, it's important that you maintain an accurate address in our system. In fact, it's a condition of use. BTW, when you're checking your profile be sure to spot-check your Raffle registration. You wouldn't want to miss your earnings because of a bad address. Hey folks .... Over the last few weeks (and probably for a few weeks more) we've been making some changes to how Site Reviews are handled. Though we'll likely make an official Announcement once all the changes are in place, I thought since a few have started to notice some differences, I'd give you a little heads up now. In general, the changes are all related to editing Reviews. They are in response to feedback and requests we have received from PornUsers. . We've done away with the "follow-up" remarks. Those that existed were incorporated into the bottom line. We've also extended the character limit for the bottom line accordingly. Some of you were quick to notice the extra characters. :) . We're extending the time limit for editing Reviews. At some stage, this may switch to allowing a total Re-Review after six months. If/when a Re-Review is submitted, the earlier Review will be archived. . Reviews older than two years will Expire but both expired and Archived Reviews will be still be viewable (for informational purposes). . When editing a Review, the User will need to tell us if it's a major or minor update. You'll also be asked the reason for the update. . At some point, we'll create a page for "Updated Reviews" which will list the changes Users say are major changes. This will allow for an easy scanning of what's recently been changed. . They'll be a sliding scale of how much Review scores are "weighed" towards a site's total score. The newer the review, the higher the weighing with Expired Reviews not counting towards the total score at all. Ok, I think that's all the important points covered. Understand that to some extent, this is still being developed so there's always a chance something might change slightly (from what I've posted here) in the actual implementation. Still, what I've posted here should be reasonably accurate. Anyhoo ... just trying to keep down any confusion that might have been caused as you noticed certain changes taking place. Just a quick FYI .... Seems a few of the threads have gone walk-about and are not (currently) showing.
