Lady and gentlemen of TBP and PU. I’m happy (and sad) to announce that thebestporn and pornusers is officially under new ownership. As of this week, our parent company, Ranks.com, has signed a purchase agreement with Rabbit’s Reviews to manage and takeover both web-sites. This is the very first announcement btw. We wanted you to know before anyone. The official press release will go out tomorrow. It’s very emotional for us in a lot of ways. The review space has been our home for so many years now (since 2003), and we take a lot of pride in all our work and its success. I never would have expected both sites to thrive for over 12 years. As most of you know, we’ve been moving our focus toward our beastly endeavor MyPorn.com. The initial plan for MyPorn was to widen our scope and to bring an improved review process, in addition to a next gen movie and forum platform. However, as the enormous project evolved, we realized that to be successful, we can’t try to do too much. MyPorn has to define itself with clarity. In the end, it was clear that MyPorn is purely meant to be a modern movie platform, and we’re very excited to make that leap. I really want to thank and express my gratitude to all of the users that made TBP and PU what they are. Trusting us to provide this resource in your lives means so much. We used every last resource we had left to keep TBP and PU going. It’s been uncomfortable to watch the sites slowly trail off the last couple years. You get what you put in though, and our efforts were spread too thin. The fact is that our burn rate (monthly expenses) is now at an all-time high with MyPorn requiring more and more staffing/resources. This acquisition comes at the right time and is a win-win for everyone, including you all as users. I’m putting just as much trust in Rabbit to take our sites to new levels we’ve never seen. The transition will be subtle and will take time. Both camps are already working very close to take over management and add new reviewers. Maggie will be writing reviews throughout the month from our side. We’ll be training their staff on our processes and virtually handing over the keys through August. Even as review rivals, I’ve been friends with Rabbit now for almost a decade. Rabbit is truly the best man for this job. I’m confident he’ll keep the integrity of our reviews, and give the proper attention that our users deserve. I hope they prove me right and re-energize this community while keeping its intelligent and positive spirit alive. I’m very excited to see what Rabbit has in store. He’ll be joining this thread to hopefully share some of that vision. Our new journey is just getting started, and I know we have something really special with MyPorn. I can’t wait to pull the curtain on this massive construction site ya’ll have been hearing about for way too long. I shake my head when I think back to all the announcements and timelines. I can’t stand when companies continuously push back product launch dates, and here we are that exact situation. All I can do is ask for your forgiveness once we do finally launch. If you’ll have me, I’ll be right back here looking for Alpha testers soon enough. I love you all very much, and this is just the beginning. Hi everyone!  Back in May we came up with an idea to create a fresh emoji set (after seeking a solution for myporn’s forum), since there were no licensed options for web use. I had been working with a talented artist who I thought would be perfect. 4 months later we had finished a complete set of emoji icons (over 800 total) and built a web-site to showcase them along with tools for developers to implement them. They’re completely open source, and something we wanted to contribute for the love of it. Visit either of the new sites: Emoji One: http://www.emojione.com/ (learn more and demo) Emoji Codes: http://emoji.codes/ (browse all emoji, and the corresponding shortnames) They’re fully compatible with unicode standards which means that if you insert an emoji from, say your mobile device, into the pornusers message box it’ll convert properly. More importantly though, it enables the use of a massive library of graphics for desktop users as well. This is how to insert an emoji into your message: 1. In the message box, type a “:” to bring up the emoji selector. 2. Start typing a keyword for an emoji you wish to find. 3. Select the emoji you’d like to use and it’ll insert the corresponding code. 4. To view all the codes and emoji available, visit: http://www.emoji.codes Here’s what the emoji panel looks like…  Hope you all enjoy them!  ----------------------------------------------------------------- FAQ: Did this impact the myporn launch date? For those that have been following our development knows this project has evolved dramatically. What started out as TBP/PU version 2013, grew into a multi-site project under the myporn.com domain, has now settled comfortably in as simply MYPORN.COM. Visit our new landing page, just released a few hours ago: http://www.myporn.com/ There is no mistake about it, we're shooting beyond the stars. We've doubled the size of our development team and are producing things I couldn't have dreamed of last year. In my gut, I see this as not only a game changer, but possibly a new game altogether. Tubes were invented about 8 years ago and changed the entire landscape, most say for the worse. Today, not only do they control the vast majority of adult traffic. Revenue to premium producers took a nose dive, due to the poor tube business model which favors ads. The market we're creating will be a "freemium" business model with no ads. We'll be the first (as far as I know) to convert a sale directly from the free movies themselves. This puts the money (which we'll split) directly into the producers pocket and offer additional exposure to their brand/site. Not only that, but it rewards the highest quality studios. This is a unanimous victory for porn, and especially fans. We need YOUR help to spread the word to all your porn loving friends about this venture. You guys have been my sounding board from the beginning. Every piece of input has been carefully analyzed and applied. I can't wait to show you guys more, but that'll have to wait. Many of you know (some of you may not) that a big part of myporn.com is to sell individual scenes (unlimited streaming and download) from a large variety of high quality adult studios. Let's face it, our industry has been slacking and this is long overdue! The reason it hasn't been done is the sheer amount of content/studios. We have relationships with most of them already, and we're starting with the very best. In time, we hope we can host all of the latest scenes from most of popular studios (popular being the higher ranked sites at TBP). Imagine being able to customize an online library with manual playlists, smart playlists, or simply browse by tag, or latest purchases. Just like iTunes, but it'll all managed and accessible online vs a local app on your machine/device. Knowing all that... what's an acceptable price you would pay per scene? With myporn.com, our goal is to bring consumer and in producers closer than ever before. We want the money flowing directly to the producers, as stated in our mission statement. The lack of innovation and creativity in porn is a direct result of the lack of monetization within the business itself. The circle of life has taken a harmful detour. Here's the issue, which I'm sure most have figure out: The cause... Tubes give all the sub-standard content away for free, the people are thrilled they live in a world where virtually endless tits and vagina cost nothing, and once in a while click an ad to keep the tubes making a profit. The effect... the content from high quality (innovative) producers who refuse to play that game, are never front and center... therefore, are dependent mostly on boutique review sites like us to cater to the enthusiasts like yourself. So here's the challenge: Design a system where we're not giving away so much that producers shy from participating, and consumers never see a reason to join. On the other hand, if we don't offer enough to compete with the tubes, then nothing new flourishes and the current formula continues to reign supreme. My question to all of you, what's the right amount of free? Clean sites like beeg.com offer 8-10 min clips on average. This seems to be acceptable by a small amount of a decent quality sites, however I've seen a lot of discussion where it's just not enough for most. My initial common sense says 50% of the actual video might be acceptable by top end of the industry (which won't be easy to convince) and enough enjoyment for consumers without offering the whole farm. HD quality streaming, videobox type hover scrolling. To empower the industry, we can allow them to control how long the videos stay active (say 3-12 months). Longer they stay active and the more they offer, the more attention their brand will get. On the other hand, giving away too much may also be less profitable. So imagine a free movie site where either the first half or the second half (would alternate for each movie) of each full scene was on display from quality producers we already review often and have relationships with. Assuming our interface and features outpace the status quo, is that enough to create a new market of consumers, and interest the hardcore types like yourself? Would love to hear your thoughts! p.s. to the gallery lovers, is 10 free full size images from each gallery enough? An example of a user review...  few quick notes: -yes, pornusers will be re-branded to pornverdict. merging the two together was going to be extremely challenging. we're re-building this from the ground up, and they'll be great benefits to this. the two sites will co-exist for some time. -everyone will have to re-register, but pornusers will get a head start and get access to the pre-release version first. -myporn.com will be the network portal, with social networking components built in. there are 7 sites total within the network. -don't pay attn to any of the draft text, it was all copied/pasted from who knows where. The new forum...  -this is a mockup of what you'll see when u log-in at pornforums.com, user forum being the default. -this forum will co-exist for a little while. eventually pornforums.com will be our new home. ------------------------------------------------------------------- I'll have more to show everyone in the coming weeks... First, want to say thanks for our loyal and active users. I can't believe after two years we have the same great minds and opinions still active in our little corner of the web. Who am I, where have I been hiding? I go by just "Rick" around these parts... I developed both TBP and PU starting back in 2003. Some of you remember me when I peaked my head once in a while. I took the past two years completely off to breathe and enjoy the world around me. Frankly, I needed a break after staring at a computer screen everyday for 15 years. I'm back, and have a newfound drive. First thing I had to do was clean up some things within the company. With free porn and our stale sites, no surprise that income has been slowly on the decline. We've had to really cut down on unnecessary expenses... unfortunately the raffle was one of them. Glad to see most are fairly supportive and understanding. Thank you for that. The company as a whole (TBP and PU) is still very stable, but sitting back and doing virtually nothing to expand/upgrade has cost us. I'm putting a lot of time and resources in brand new sites that will bring freshness and cutting edge resources for everyone. I've never been this motivated or worked this efficiently... software and html standards really make things easier now. As you can tell by my usage stats, I'm not much of a forum guy... but I do read a lot of posts and even poll results still. I'm a research freak and a developer at heart. When I'm in my zone, I live breath and sleep concepts and designs. What to look forward to? 1. Fresh new reviews for sites 80+, new brand separate from TBP. 2. Deeper discounts, deeper trial research and verification... new site that compares prices available from us and others for each pay site. 3. Trust reports for all 80+ sites... logging, capturing, and grading the signup process, cancel process, upsell tactics, spam tracking, and of course fraud. 4. Our own tube... full 10 min hd movies, no ads/pop-ups, our own encoding, in a package that crosslinks to all the reviews, discounts, and trust ratings. 5. MUCH MUCH MORE This forum and PU will get it's own set of updates down the road as well. I have a lot of ideas to get our top users free passes and benefits that should exceed raffle type rewards. My goal is to widen our community and in the end, take care of those who have stayed loyal to us. I'm late for a graduation party, so I better run... but thanks to everyone who has always had our back. Khan is always your man, and you won't see me muhc, but know I'm back and dedicated to fuck shit up (for the better of course)!! p.s. these fonts are way too damn small!!! lol sorry bout that. i'll fix this. A recent Hegre comment got me intrigued about what other input you guys might have about our reviews at TBP. I think most of you find the info/facts to be fairly good and worth it's weight. Pushing that to the side for now, I'd love to hear your candid opinions about the "scores" and "pros/cons". Do they focus too much on vids? Do they overrate or underrate certain types of sites? When do the reviewers get it right and when do they not? Don't hold back either... if we can dish it, we better be able to take it! Give me general opinions, detailed analysis, constructive or non-constructive. We're all ears, so let's hear your mouth! p.s. A little ass smooching doesn't hurt before I open the gates. The reviews at PU have helped us tremendously become better at our own job. Your reviews/comments are almost always a secondary reference when reviewing a site. Our reviews based on a simulated members-area experience will never touch actual user impressions and experiences. Thanks to this community for all your contribution. If you guys are wondering why your feedback has been pending for the last couple days, it's because our man Khan has been stuck without power (and heat) in his home in Virginia. The storms took a beating in his area and his home is very secluded from civilization. I believe there was 4-5 ft of snow with more to come this week. It could take a few more days before they have power again. This affects the raffle tickets as well. Tickets are not awarded to reviews/comments until they are approved. Khan normally handles them all, but if he's not back by tomorrow morning I'll go through the feedback and approve as much as I can before the raffle. For any feedback that isn't approved, it will apply for the following raffle. I hope you're staying warm big guy. Get back soon! That is my latest question for you guys. Many sites now use pre-checked cross sales. If the site shows them clearly written on the join page, above the submit button and easy to read.. Does that affect your decision to join the site? Do you think it is a problem or do you just uncheck them? Let me know what u guys think! It's still a work in progress, but you'll start to see some very subtle changes at TheBestPorn.com. The review pages now have a more attractive design and some new features. This week we finished some minor forum updates, some noticeable and others not so much. Either way, I figured they were worth a quick heads up for you guys. The Boring Updates: 1. The My Threads feature got a minor make-over. New swirl icon/logo. Viewing your My Threads now has a simple X icon where you can remove a thread. 2. The FAQ's are now included on the same page as the Rules. This link is located on the bottom of the forum homepage. The Interesting Updates: 1. There is a new e-mail preference (click Edit Profile) under the Forum section that sends you an e-mail notification when a new thread is added to the forum. I can see many users subscribing to this. 2. Have you ever just wanted to go directly to the most recent post in the thread (from the thread list page)? Now you can! Under the Last Post column of the Forum Home, you'll notice the date or time above the user nick is now LINKED. Clicking the link will now take you to that post (the most recent in the thread). 3. Threads you save to My Threads will now be highlighted in red and a swirl logo when viewing the Forum Home (thread list). This way you can easily follow your saved threads without having to go back and forth from the My Threads section. That should be it and we hope you guys find them useful! Just a quick heads up that .png is now an acceptable file format for your Avatar. For those looking for cool avatars, there's a ton of great web-sites that offer free personal avatars! Avatars will someday be site-wide, so that your forum avatar will be displayed with your feedback in most other sections of PornUsers! This is a great day for porn users!! I want to personally welcome you to our new custom built user forum. We wanted to make sure to build a forum that not only integrated seemlessy with our existing accounts, but also presented a forum experience that we felt fit our community. You'll find similar features you may be familiar with from other internet message boards and hopefully some unique features and styles as well. Khan will be your staff eyes and ears and will gladly help anyone with questions. Please be sure to read the forum rules carefully before posting. I wanted to make sure to welcome everyone to the forum, but my posts here will be intentionally limited.
