(Placing soapbox on the ground and standing on it.)  I recently wrote a review about a site which decided to do something rather devious. The site is a well known name and has been around for 18 years. When I joined the site, they charged me $27.99 a month which is typical these days. I then went to the video page and clicked on a video to download when I was stopped. I was informed I would have to purchase a download portion for the subscription at an extra $14.99 a month. There was nothing on the title page about having to purchase an option to download their videos. There was no indication for two types of service: Streaming Only and/or Streaming with Downloads. I had already purchased the first month and wanted to download the videos. I couldn't demand a refund as they would state there is no mention of downloading on the title page. So they think their site is worth $43 a month? Sure, you get some bonus sites you don't really want as they feature porn found on every other bonus site offered out there. But I joined for the one site only. Also, many large multi level sites charge only $24.95 a month and include downloads. I don't know about other porn fans, but this seems sneaky to me. I feel as though I was tricked by the owner of the site. It also seems the corporate site owners only care about the bottom line these days. Another site I really liked has low quality videos masquerading as HD. Many only update once a week and decide to skip a week every other month. And don't get me started on the sites which recycle! So what are we to do? I did let the webmaster know about my opinion and have yet to hear back from them. The billing company was actually quite responsive and told me there had been many complaints as well as confused customers. That means I am not alone in this fight. Bottom line: They want our cash each month which can be used for other forms of entertainment. Summer movie season is coming and I do have a bunch of movies I want to watch first run. I'll spend my $17.50 for a ticket plus popcorn and a soda so add another $20. That equals one month or more on a porn site. So porn companies: Shape up or I'll spend the money going to the movies. Or maybe I'll actually pay a bill or two or pay back someone I owe money to. Keep up the shenanigans and you can kiss my hard earned money goodbye. End of rant, taking away soapbox... Once the average porn user like myself figured out why those odd charges were posting on the credit card account, we learned of those pesky pre-checked boxes. Many porn sites want us to join their sister sites so they check these boxes for us. It is then up to us to discover it before we send off payment. Otherwise, we are stuck eating a small charge and canceling a service we never asked for. We wised up and made sure to look for those pre-checks and would find them. The sites wised up and made those checks smaller and hid them from us. Hiding in plain site is the word. Westbill has gotten me several times lately. Sure, it is only $1, but those dollar charges add up to a nice little profit as most of us don't even go to the site and check it out. I know it is up to us to really look all over the place for those sneaky little checks. They are there laughing at us all the way to the bank. I do think we need to start making it known to the sites and pay sites which profit on this we are not pleased. It is sneaky and underhanded. Any other business caught doing this would be drawn and quartered by the public. Yet we allow this to happen in porn. They won't listen or read our emails on this subject as they make too much money doing it. I also know it is up to us to be diligent, but I still have the right to rant about it. I know I am not alone here in this great inconvenience. I also know the old saying: Fool me once, shame on you! Fool me twice, shame on me! I must be a huge fool as I have been fooled many times. I keep getting emails from info@national-inkasso.de about a debt owed to a porn site. I have been an active member and have been joining sites for nearly fifteen years and I know a thing or two. The owners of the email think I am going to be stupid and send them some money. The main thing is all porn that is charged is charged up front. That is how porn works. I know of no sites which let you get content without paying for it first. If they did that, think of the many people who would cheat them. How many people here have had similar emails sent to them? Mine are always found in the spam files which shows me they do this often. I also hope no one falls for this scam as getting money back from a porn site can be both difficult and embarrassing. I still enjoy gay porn but my focus has been on the models themselves and looking at their bodies. I also like to watch them shower afterwards (which is rare these days). I have tried to convince the sites to add these little things to no avail. Some respond and say they will look into it. Watching anal sex is boring to me these days. Most gay sites focus on it these days. I wonder if I'm getting old when it comes to watching sex itself. I still enjoy oral scenes, just not the other types of penetration. Are there straight porn watchers out there who feel what I'm saying? You want to watch the beautiful model undress and admire his or her body? Photosets are rare these days on most sites. I prefer videos myself and like it when the models undress and stand in front of the camera completely naked. It takes the place of those photosets and is nice to watch the model turn around. Most sites don't do the above. The model is already naked and getting into the action. There is no thought or eroticism involved these days. It does seem more and more movies are being released with real sex scenes as art films. I have been wondering if recycling older videos and calling them new or updates is a problem with many of the straight porn sites. It happens quite a bit especially with the Russian sites in gay porn. This is a bit maddening at times as it feels like a rip-off. Most of the sites charge $25 a month as a recurring fee. There are others which charge $40 a month and do the same thing. Not all Euro sites do this and there are quite a few gems out there. Hello, I am new to this site but not new to porn. I remember the old days of having to get the nerve up to buy a porn rag from the nice man who ran the kiosk at the train station. I am lucky enough so that the VCR was around and I could buy a VHS tape at a ridiculously high price. I am sure there are members here who had to deal with the super-8 reels. (Yes, I was threatened with that one many times.) Oh, we kept our stash in the woods. I was old enough to buy porn at the start of the 1980s. It was not that cool to be gay unless you lived in some pockets in the city. Now most people don't care what you do as long as you leave a little tip. I started this thread to get some stories from the more mature set out there. This is before the internet and maybe even before the VCR became available. What are your stories? The movie King Cobra starring James Franco is playing at some movie festivals looking for a distributor. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5129682/combined For those who do not know, King Cobra was a gay porn studio which featured Sean Patrick Lockhart (aka Brent Corrigan) who turned out to be underage for some of the videos. Sean wanted out of his contract and went to a rival studio for help. Things get ugly and soon the owner of King Cobra ends up murdered.
