I will try to keep this as short and to the point as possible. I ask that it not be deleted. I will be civil in it. I will make a copy of it so if it is deleted, I can send it to the members that I have email addresses for. On Tuesday, I had a review denied. The main explanation was it should have been a comment. It said my review didn't meet the minimum review criteria. And it focused on this, "The primary issue of your REVIEW was a technical problem. We're trying to keep reviews focused on the actual site, not any techinical issue(s) that might be fixed later." My review was of Thai Swinger. It had 7 pros, 2 cons and around 900 words in the bottom line. I rated it a 90. One of the cons was about the site loading slow. The others which I should have listed separately were no photos and no model list or names. The only review criteria is the one listed in the $200 Tuesdays section. It says for an excellent review there needs to be 8 pros/cons and 250 words in the bottom line. Even if you remove the one about the technical problem, I still had 8 pros/cons and 900 words in the bottom line. Why would that be posted as a comment? I mentioned the slow loading and said it doesn't hurt the download speeds. So, 8 pros/cons, 900 words in bottom line, how is that not an excellent review? That's question #1. When did technical problems stop being cons? You don't think it's important that a reader should know if me and my high-powered PC with a gigabyte internet connection is having trouble loading the site? And if that logic is true, should any cons count? Anything can be fixed in the future. That's the point of a review. To gauge the site as it is at that current time. I feel like I'm being targeted. A few weeks ago, Freddie posted a thread asking for feedback and I gave my fair feedback. She replied in a full rant that had nothing to do with what I said. To show my personality, I gave her an easy out by saying I think the staff has got so used to being defensive and I understand why. She apologized and later sent me an email apologizing. The only part that frustrated me about that incident was I asked a simple question about what the minimum criteria was. That wasn't answered. I asked it again, it wasn't answered. I think mbaya asked it, it wasn't answered, but now I'm getting a denied review for not reaching the minimum criteria?  My review was just like the nearly 400 previous ones I've posted. I have a copy I can post it here. That section on the site being slow to load had these parts about it: "My biggest problem with the site is it's slow. The downloads are not slow, it just seems like I click on something and have time to write a review before it opens. It's not that bad but it could be faster." That's 41 words out of 957, so 4.2% of the review was about the technical problem. I'm not mad. Disgusted is the better word. I tried to think of any of other reasons. I'm just being honest. I don't believe that 4.2% was enough to deny a review that still met the excellent criteria. A friend of mine sent me a text around midnight that said, "What site did you say they rejected your review for?" I told her. She replied back and told me to check Rabbit's site. There's a review of Thai Swinger just posted 2 days ago, rating it a 70. I'm not intimidated by anyone on here. Is that how it is now? I don't visit Rabbit's unless I'm looking for a promo. That just seems like a strange coincidence. Especially with the completely illogical reasoning behind denying my review. If that is how it's going to be, members need to know. I paid good money for that site because it hadn't been reviewed here or on TBP. Spin me a better logical twist on why my review was denied and I ask that any staff reply stays on course and doesn't turn into another rant like Freddie did to me on the review requirement thread. I can say I've not had hardly any problems with any billing processors over the years, until now. Went to join Reality Kings, signed up, put in my payment info and chose to signup through Epoch instead of SBW. I hit submit and received an "Invalid cvv2 code" message. I re-entered the code and tried again, invalid message again. Done it a third time since for whatever reason, Epoch now puts dots instead of your numbers on the cvv2 part. So I accepted that maybe I put the wrong numbers in. No membership. And was charged three times. So the code was not wrong or obviously they couldn't have charged it. Just a warning if you see the invalid code, don't try it a second time or in my case or a third time. I've sent Epoch an email and am waiting on their response. *Edit* Just tried their live chat and the damn server is down. My first time I jacked off, I thought I'd invented it. I was browsing around PU after checking out some of the newest updated Eve Angel pictures. I suddenly saw something very strange to me. I've uploaded it to an image hosting service and while I know there isn't any free porn allowed, this goes beyond just the picture. The little TBP box on the index page of PU now has Eve Angel in it! How did this happen? I have the snipping tool picture to show for it since I'm guessing it is only happening to me. My comment back to Drooler about Eve's new site caused me to check some of the pictures out and see how many belly down, butt up pictures was in a set he mentioned. One of those is what shows up in my TBP box now instead of the cartoon blonde that is usually in it. Wittyguy had mentioned that this could be a helpful thread, hopefully, I can make this clear. Several sites that I know of are now using .rar files instead of .zip files. Winrar is a shareware that replaces your zip application that comes with most computers. I needed it because of my job. I have an ever growing file of patient information, notes, and it was split into 60, 500 MB zip files, this can take as long as 2 hours to unzip all of it. I found Winrar by searching, "Faster zip unzip". It works pretty much the same way zip files do, it is an archive maker and storage folder. I never really found out if zip files have a limit on size. I do however have all 30 GB now in one rar folder instead of 60 zip folders. I can "extract" instead of unzip, the entire folder in about 10-20 minutes. It also has a nice password protection for every rar file, if you want and you can put say 50 rar files into one big rar file. Believe this saves space by compression. Working with rar files If you don't want to make the jump to Winrar and download a .rar set, you can right click the file once on your computer and rename it. Change the extension to .zip and it will change the format of the folder back to a zip folder so you can unzip it to work like any other zip folder would. An example would be like this. You download a file that is a rar file and named, eveangel469.rar, right click the file, click "rename" in the context menu and rename it to, eveangel469.zip This will convert it back to a zip file from a rar file. Safety Mbaya and I'm sure others would worry about the safety of the program. I checked download (dot) com and they have it listed as being downloaded over 75,000,000 times from them alone. I've been using it for two years and have never had any problems with it or heard of any problems with it. There is a catch though, it has a 40 day trial period, fully functional, after that you are supposed to pay for it, $30 one time fee. I did go ahead and buy one license for $20 (two years ago), but I also know that you can still use it in a limited capacity once the trial is over. The good news is, it still extracts/unzips after the trial is over. I didn't mind the price since it is yours to keep, not a yearly price like most softwares are. The good thing with the program is that it recognizes .zip files on your computer and converts them automatically to .rar files, and several other files types as well. It also has a feature that I really like. Say you have some old .zip/.rar files that you never unzipped/extracted. You can right click the file and open the file for a preview without having to unzip/extract the whole thing. I will end by not posting their link, just do a google search for "lab rar" and it will come up if you want to check it out. If anything wasn't clear let me know. Hey PUs, I really haven't joined many sites lately that I hadn't joined and reviewed before. I'm finding the new models in my preferred niche, glam/solo/Euro just don't interest me near as much as the models that made me a fan of that niche. So, I bought myself a new pair of 1 TB external hard drives and have been going back through my favorite sites and re-downloading all of the content of my top 10 favorite models and storing it on the new HDs. What I'm running into on the re-reviews is that I seem to be a different reviewer than I was two years ago ha ha. I got review implants. I'm thinking with most of the world having economic problems that I'm leaning more towards joining the sites that give me the most bang for my buck, but if I do join a site that doesn't have a lot of content that I plan to keep, it better be very high quality. Here comes the dilemma, I joined Met-Art a few weeks ago, and though I'm still not really into artsy porn, my respect for the site is much higher now because of the high quality content and the high amount of quantity. There are many models on the site that I like, but I've seen much more exposing sets of them. This is the dilemma, I find myself wanting to grade a site not just based on my liking it or not, because my thinking now is that we all have different tastes in models and what style of porn we like, hardcore/softcore/lesbian etc.. So, just looking at the technical aspects of the site, the value it could be a very high score even though it isn't really my preferred niche or maybe doesn't have a lot of content of my favorite models. The other side of this is the sites that have a lot of content of my favorite niche and favorite models, but might have lower quality content. By scoring the higher quality site higher that would let the potential customer look at a site and decide if they liked the models, while knowing the quality was very high, but if I do that am I taking the personality out of my reviews? I've had a couple of PUs over the years email me from here and tell me they really like my taste in models and join most of the sites that I score high since my reviews were higher scored if those sites had the models I prefer, not so much based on quality or quantity. As an example, my highest rated site is Twistys, not so much for the quality of the content, as it is that I get twistys, one of the biggest and best, mostly glam sites on the internet and includes access to two very good solo sites, Anette Dawn and Nicole Graves, plus the added bonus of a very good glam/softcore site Blue Fantasies for $20. The downfalls are in the quality section, with average at best picture size and slightly above average video quality. And those are offset in my reviews by the amount of content of my favorite models, which is very high. The thing is, how helpful is my review if the person reading it doesn't have the same favorite models that I have and they see a 98 score and end up on a site that is high on content, but only above average in quality. Probably should have taken self-therapy for my OCDC! This came up after going through the frustration of 1byday trying to switch formats of their site in the middle of my membership. Their newer content is certainly higher quality than Twistys, and with the archives back in place as part of a regular membership, their quantity matches Twistys. Their model selection is also similar to Twistys. This dilemma was compounded when I joined zoliboy to get in on the the new, finally understandable 21st Sextury network, where you join one site and get around 30 bonus sites. While some of those bonus sites are just filled with content that was once on Club Sandy and Pix and Video, some of them are 100% exclusive, I've also noticed that Playful Hands is getting many of the new Club Sandy updates too, which saves me $30 on joining Club Sandy. I made a comment about the zoli bonus sites and it really is impressive, Sweet Sophie Moone, Open Air Pleasures, Playful Hands, Lezbo Honeys and a site that has many of those "missing" hardcore clips that used to be on Club Sandy, Euro Porn Sluts, including one of the few hardcore Eve Angel clips, Aneta Keys hardcore, Sophie Moone in an almost b/g clip, it is b/g/g. As a collector, that site alone has enough clips for me to have joined for the full price, but I now get those other listed ones and around 30 more. They also are releasing new updates in HD and re-releasing old clips in HD on most of those sites. Onto the questions, do you prefer the reviews/bottom lines that are more of an opinion or more of just the facts type reviews? Do you think we lose our PU review personalities if we don't grade sites higher that have our favorite models on them? While I do try to be as unbiased as possible, I still think it is impossible for non-professional reviewers to be completely unbiased since we are paying for the memberships and would generally think that we join a site because we already like something about it before throwing the money down to join. Hey guys, sorry for being late on this one. I had been working on my college football blog so much that I forgot that I had said I would post on here about my top 10. #10 Arizona State - As always, an underrated Pac-10 team. The Sun Devils only have 2 games that should worry them, USC and Georgia. If they win 1 of those, they will be a top 5 team. #9 Wisconsin - As much depth as any team in America, terribly boring to watch, slow paced football. #8 Oklahoma - Slightly overrated this year in most polls. QB Bradford is struggling to learn the new offense and the defense lacks depth. #7 Texas Tech - Return 10 starters from the 2nd best offense in the country, could score more than 70 in a couple of game. #6 Florida - Hard to go against that offense they have, though the defense isn't very good they at least play in a low scoring conference. #5 West Virginia - Too many returning starters to a team that has been screwed over in the offseason. They either soar up to here or drop completely off the map. #4 Missouri - Should be the best team in what should be the best conference this year, the Big 12. Also have two Heisman candidates, Daniel and Maclin. #3 Ohio State - Early season lamb to the slaughter game vs. the Mighty Trojans of USC is the only obstacle from another embarrassing title game blowout loss. #2 Georgia - Will lose in their conference, either Florida, Tennessee, South Carolina or Auburn will get them. #1 USC - Simply the most impressive team from position to position in the nation. The whole defense will soon be in the NFL. Plus, since this is PU, their cheerleaders, The Song Girls, are the hottest in the nation! Oh and thanks Khan for replying on the other one. I have been meaning to post this for awhile, but rarely get the time to post anything that requires much thought. Just recently, I was on Teen Dreams, and the webmaster Andrea asked on their forum if anyone had reviewed Teen Dreams on Porn Users. I mentioned that I had, and a couple of other members seemed interested in becoming Porn User members, but they both mentioned that their favorite site, Teen Dreams, had several cons, and they didn't know how to grade those cons, or maybe I should say, "How much to take off for those cons". As an example, my first review here was also my highest for over a year. So, since the threads are slowing on here and we have never really discussed scoring of sites, value of pros, negative effect of cons, I thought this might be interesting to discuss. I will start by saying that I know one thing that has been complained about several times about my reviews, "Too high" on the scores. We can look at the scoring scale that comes up on each review we write and see that 90-99 is "Best in Class". Thing is, not even the TBP reviewers can stay within that definition, with 8 softcore niche sites scoring over 90. The first thing I would say is when reading a review on PU, check the reviewers average rating. You can do this by clicking on their name and looking over to your right, where you will see their average score of all of their reviews. Mine is pretty high at 84.7. In comparison, wittyguy's is in the 82 range, Drooler is around 78 and Denner is around 76. Sorry guys, mean no offense using you all, but was trying to show a pretty broad range of scores. I will explain that my scores are usually going to be high. I've been joining sites since probably 2003, at an average of 3-4 sites per month. So, most of the sites I review are sites I generally like and have gone back to. Where as Denner and Drooler are known for joining sites that have no reviews. Lets call those the obscure sites. I think a big part of my porn viewing is based solely on the models. I have my 10 favorites, and a few more that I will also search for, but I'm not going to expand my taste, just so I can join sites that I will grade low and get my average down. I've seen some criticism of other reviews that have scored a site in the high 90s, but give 3-4 cons too. I will explain my grading criteria. Exclusive content - This is huge to me. And I am going to score these sites higher than ones with no exclusive content. When you have a set group of models you like, exclusivity becomes #1 or #2 on your importance list. Quality - Here is a good one. We can't seem to agree on what is and what isn't HD in movies. I see 1,200 high end with a 2000+ bitrate as HD, while someone else may believe 1,200 high end with 4000+ bitrate is HD. It still means I am going to grade the videos as HD. Same with pictures, I am pretty satisfied with 1600 high end pictures, some want bigger than that, but I'm not taking points off a site for not going bigger than 1,600. If the pictures were 800, that would be a whole other story. Ease of Use - I will say that the easiest site for me to use is Teen Dreams. You find your favorite model, all of her sets are listed on one page and there is a zip icon and a movie icon. All you do it click it to download all the sets. Twistys also offers a similar zip icon download system, though the movies require a click to get to the screen to download. These little touches are nice, and these to me are very important in the scoring. When I can join a site that I don't have to put a lot of effort into to download the content, that is a major plus. On the other hand, those sites that make me download 5 different zips to get one set, ahem ATK, I'm taking points off. I get paid to work. And shouldn't have to work while paying for a site. Connectivity - To me this one isn't as important since I seem to connect to almost all sites at good speeds. Plus, I am not sitting at my computer waiting on the downloads to finish, so the time it takes to download isn't a big issue for me. Sites with more things than I need - This is one that I have talked with a couple of members about recently. I never use Flash movies, so if the site is hyping their great streaming Flash videos, it means nothing to me. I download about 90% of my collection while at work to an external hard drive, take the drive home and transfer the content to my main hard drives. As I joked a few months ago, I can see the day that I tell a client, "Excuse me, I have to watch this Flash streaming porn movie"! Most of all and I think this is one of the most confusing parts about Porn Users. We aren't TBP reviewers. I'm not for sure if the TBP reviewers receive a membership for a week to review a site or not, but either way, I'm a normal guy that has to pay the full price of a site, unless we get a TBP discount, so I'm not joining My Favorite Granny Trannies. See what I mean? If I write a review for a site, there is a very good chance that I am already familiar with the content before joining and at worst, would give it an average score. I did a little research of my reviews, I have 140 reviews, and out of those, I counted 1 site that I scored in the 50s and 1 that I scored in the 60s. If nothing else, that shows my unwillingness to part with my money to join a site that I might not like. The thing I look at the most in the scoring scale is at the end of each one, "Might recommend" is 70-79. I don't remember which member I told this to, but it was, "I have already been to most of the sites I review, before joining again, when I do the review. That means it was good enough for me to come back to a second time, so why wouldn't I recommend it?" My 70-79 sites are usually niche sites that I recommend to fans of the niche, but not to just general porn fans. Also, a 70-79 could be a particular solo model site that doesn't have a ton of content, but I recommend it to fans of that model. My 80-89 sites are generally very good sites that I would recommend to most anyone, and my 90-99 sites are sites that I don't think any porn fan should go without joining at least one time. Some of the members have different opinions of what these scores mean, and I think that is what makes the site Porn Users. I've read some reviews that score sites fairly low, In Focus Girls, comes to mind. I personally loved the site, all that exclusive glam content was great to me. I'm wrapping up here. Way back when PU first started, I remember talking to, I think Snow Dude and we talked about how the points shouldn't be debated, since that is the only thing about the review, that really is OUR opinion. What should be discussed is the facts, max pic size, max resolution of videos, because those are more misleading than a number on a 50-99 scale. Out of my 140 reviews, I honestly don't remember one time that I didn't have to go back and shorten it because it was over the character limit. Which is my advice for those just starting out, don't put a lot of weight in your scoring. For example, if I had never been on a porn site and someone rates Twistys a 75, that isn't going to stop me from joining it. I'm just going to figure they don't have the same taste in models than I have. Since I could see from the preview that they have dozens of models that I like. Just a thought as well to the longtime members. While my scores and Drooler's vary a great deal, we both post facts in the actual review that can lead you to join a site. We've also talked about the TBP scores, and how the PU reviewers rarely agree with the TBP reviewers. They review more on a quality/quanity/ease/ scale, where as we are more likely to grade by the actual content, namely the models. I will end by showing two examples in my reviews. I scored Eve Angel's solo site a 96 and Mya Diamond a 90. Both of those reviews are pretty old now, but at that time, both sites were updating daily, both sites were 100% exclusive, both had great picture resolution and very good video resolution/bitrates and the same low price of $15. So why the difference in scores? Because I prefer Eve Angel. Where as, I don't think the TBP reviewers would pick Eve's site as 6 points better just because they liked Eve. I scored Pix and Video a 92 and Club Sandy a 90. Both sites have the same quality content, same update schedule and same price, but I preferred Pix and Videos larger selection of models, where as someone who really likes Sandy, would probably prefer it. So to end, I think we all have to remember that we are trying not to be too partial, but we are also paying out of our pockets to join these sites. That alone shows partiality on our part. I hope that was at least pretty clear and will get some of the other members talking about their scoring criteria, and their understanding of the scoring system. I know we had a poll once that asked if we pay attention to the score or not. And hopefully this will explain that maybe you shouldn't pay as much attention to the score as you do the facts and the thoroughness of the review. Phew. I need a drink now!
