An increasing number of sites have been changing design for the worse. Why do they take the pains to make a change, just to offer a worse produt? I guess they have fallen under the curse of web designers. Web design was once clean and rigid: just HTML. Then came Cascading Style Sheets, that embellished the product -right. But then we entered the era of dynamic design at all costs, with lots of javascript and what not. There are javascript libraries that allow you to do all sort of fancy things -but mind, that doesn't mean that you must do them. Unfortunately, porn web-designers feel they need to -all for the worse. The most annoying change was performed recently by Private.com. When you moved your mouse to the right side of the screen, an overlapping box would appear, hiding the button for playing full screen. They have been wise enough to remove that silly fanciness. When there's too much content for a page, you divide it in several pages, which you can access independently, right? Not for the PUBA network, they are comitted to the annoying "loading" fanciness. When you reach the bottom of the page, it displays "loading", and starts to load more. You get again to the bottom of the page, and it displays another "loading", and loads more content. If you want to get to the very last content, you need to load, one by one, all the former content. And you are advise to keep it loaded! Beecause if you get out of the page, and try to come back, you shall find that you need to go through all the "loading" nightmare once more. I like the network's content, but I shall not suscribe to such a pain in the ass design. Many a preview page, of many a site, features nowadays that silly "loading", but fortunately it's just for the preview, and you don't go on loading till the end of days. What about the 21s (21sextury, etc)? Once a member, always a member, so you can browse the content, even if not currently suscribed. But they have recently contributed their own fanciness to this nonsensical trend of worsening all the designs. At present, all the scene thumbnails have an overlapping image of a lock, a big lock, and lots of shadow over the thumbnail, so you can barely see it. The result is annoying, and almost impedes browsing. What about Tainster? They had a no-complains model of design and navigation. It reamins, more or less, but formerly if you were looking at part 1 of a scene, you would easily find the links to subsequente parts of the same scene. Not any longer, but you can certainly find lots of adverts and offers, that make it really hard to find what you really do want to find. Formerly, you could read the whole title of the scene -not any longer. If it was already good, why did they changed it for the worse? A mistery... perhaps the curse of the web-designers? Then there's X-Art. See this comment: https://www.pornusers.com/replies_add.html?id=95252 Again, trying to be fancy is something that web-desginers enjoy, but porn users may be, probably, not. On the other hand, sites like Reality Kings keep good old design. Tidy, functional. There are some ads at the side, but no big problem. Let's pray they have no intention of changing it. Because it shall mean paying a web designer just for making a worse site (crazy, isn't it?). There may be more examples, but enough for now. All in all, they are making an annoying experience of what should be an enjoyable one. And the end result for the "fancy" sites may be a "catch the content and fly, to never return". Webmasters, mind: nothing like the Kiss principle (Keep it simple, stupid). | |
