Do you consider video quality before joining a site? I wanted to free up some disk space so I recently went through my porn collection to prune out video clips I rarely watched or was bored with. I sort my collection into folders by the site I downloaded them from. I found I have become intolerant of video of a certain quality and ended up deleting whole folders based on video quality. Going forward, I think 640/720 x 480 at 2000k bit rate will be the bottom end threshold in video quality for me when I subscribe to a site. All sites will have older content of course but the new stuff will have to make the cut-off. | |

Has the term, "Amateur" been over used by the porn industry? It's obvious to me that since this word first became a buzz word in porn the definition has been stretched. Sure, maybe there were some college kids who posted sex clips for free back before anyone realized they could make insane money from it but I'm not buying that these various "amateur" sites are finding a continual flow of freely offered sex videos and photos. I guess they could be selling it as a genre -- like cheerleaders. Sure, they aren't authentic cheerleaders but it's all in the fantasy. The problem with this concept is what does an amateur girl look like or act like? There's plenty of money in gonzo and natural is in style so it's not like the models stand out from any other pay site. Thoughts? | |

I credit this thread to BadMrFrosty. In one of his recent reviews he mentioned the site he was reviewing, Nubile Girls HD, had seemingly random model naming. The model naming on many of those Euro sites is annoying. I guess the idea of model identity isn't important for those Eastern Europeans and they just sell the identity along with the pics and video to the site owners. I personally think they are making a mistake not allowing the models to have a name that crosses between sites (including a last name!). I bet if they allowed the girls to gain a little celebrity and own their names they'd find they make more money from users who are seeking out specific girls. What are your thoughts? | |

The big booty niche has never done it for me. There are some voluptuous women out there who's ass can be a turn on but those booty-licious sites aren't what I'm looking for in the rear-end. I'm surprised there isn't a niche for regular sized butts. I've always enjoyed a small, tight ass with just the right amount of roundness and shape to it. Which Web browser do prefer? For browsing your porn and in general? I've been a Firefox loyalist for a long time but I think Google Chrome has finally won me over. I enjoy the simplicity and speed. I don't even use the download managers anymore because the Chrome download manager seems to do the job fine. (It lacks some bells and whistles of the Free Download Manager but I don't miss them much.) I still use Firefox at work as my primary browser just because of the plug-ins. I think FF 3.5 is a little sluggish. | |

Have you ever considered how your tastes in porn models has changed over time? Recently I've found I've taken a liking to models that have decent size breasts with a little bounce in them. Nothing huge, good size Cs that look natural, or are natural, usually on a fit body. (Still not into the water balloons.) In the past I've focused on other traits: Tall, athletic models, models that have a dressed-down look, cheerleaders, small breasts, the latex look and I even had a thing for models with long black hair at one point. I don't know why my tastes change really. Maybe one particular model catches my imagination and then I look for her elsewhere? In any case it keeps things interesting. | |

In the past I'd usually throw my box of VHS tapes or DVDs in the back of the closet when I met a new girlfriend. They'd get a little less use and I'd buy fewer of them but I'd never get rid of them. I never felt the need to show them to my girlfriend either. In the last few years I've discovered and become a fan of Internet porn. Not only do I enjoy the porn but I enjoy organizing my video files, searching the review sites for new stuff and being a member of the PU community. So, it's become more of a hobby these days than just a means to an end. Right now I'm single but I sometimes consider how I'd handle my porn hobby with the next woman who enters my life. I was just reading through Messmer's post titled "Fake Breasts!" and it started me thinking about other assumptions the porn world has made about what their consumers enjoy. What would you like to see more of in porn that is not a current popular trend? What do you see too much of in porn? My personal thoughts on the subject... Not enough: - Models with short hair. - Natural breasts, though we're seeing more of this (nod to Messmer) - Some attempt to build the sexual tension. It doesn't have to be Gone with the Wind but a little build up wouldn't hurt. - Realistic sexual enjoyment from the female in sex scenes. (Little Mutt and HerSweetHand does a good job with this.) - Dirty talk (or any talk from some of those Euro girls.) Too much: - Facials/cum shots. - Silly, over the top stripper/porn star clothes & make-up. - Plastic surgery. Some of the older, MILF models don't even look human. - Robotic sex chanting that's obviously fake. | |

I've been buying/viewing strictly online porn for years now. Joining one porn site is instant access to anywhere from dozens to thousands of pics and videos for only $20-$30. Recently I was looking for more Jana Cova content. I only have a few low quality vids in my local library so I popped over to adultdvdempire.com to check out her filmography and it got me thinking -- what's the draw to porn DVDs these days? DVDs still cost between $15-$30 a piece for only a fraction of the content you receive when you join a Web site. I suppose the quality (in general) of the video might be better on DVDs and there may be some girls (like Jana Cova) that are difficult to find on the Internet -- but that doesn't seem to be enough to keep the DVD industry in business. Is there anyone on PU who still regularly buys/rents DVDs? Are there any pros of using DVDs over Internet downloads that I've missed? | |

I'm using Firefox 3 on a PC running the Vista OS. I noticed today that when I type a search term in the "Easy Site Search" textbox in the left column the text appears to be half hidden under the bottom border of the textbox. I'm posting this in a thread in case any other users are having the same problem. | |

I have all the popular players on my PC, Windows Media Player, DivX Player, Quicktime and RealPlayer. I think my overall favorite is the Windows Media Player but I like the individual players for different reasons. Windows Media Player: Somewhat memory efficient, easy to build an on the fly playlist, easy access to video setting (brightness, contrast, etc.) -- at least with the right skin, High quality mode -- though it tends to create a pixilated line across the upper left corner. DivX Player: Super memory efficient, video deblocking. The best picture quality of all the players Quicktime: Plays .mov files, RealPlayer: Varying play speeds, playlist, plays .mov files. RealPlayer is a bit of a memory hog. | |

There aren't really any porn "stars" today, has anyone noticed this and thought about why? Everyone knows who Jenna Jameson is because the production companies made her a star. These days you know Sapphic Erotica and Bangbros are great porn sites but do you know who the performers are when you come to PU to give your review? No, of course not. You know there was a girl named Lori or Laura who was hot but that's it. Sometimes they don't even give you a first name. When they do it might be different from the first name she uses on another site. Even PU and TBP don't have an option to search by pornstar, probably because names mean nothing these days. My opinion is it must have something to do with money. The 80's and 90's style American porn stars probably had better deals and bigger stakes in the porn companies. These days the business model has changed apparently. | |

Everyone is excited about watching movies in high definition but when you go to a Web site that has "HD video", how do you know for sure what you're getting? Is it the resolution? dimensions (i.e. widescreen vs. full)? the bit rate? Picture clarity? My personal definition is a resolution of 720 pixels or more. I've heard people argue about the bit rate and other criteria but all I know is it's sold to me as high resolution and looks good or it looks shitty. If it does look bad I don't know if it's due to the bit rate, the type of camera or the video being shot out of focus. (or maybe because they are lying about the high resolution!)
