I've never seen a 1$ trial membership that offered anything of value so I must conclude that it does not exist and therefore they are scams.

I've done a few of these but I've always checked out the terms of use before doing it. Often you have to cancel immediately after you sign up to ensure you're covered. Don't really do them any more since most sites of any quality don't do them much.

Never tried one. You usually have to cancel within 48 hours or something, and the trials are often limited access too, so I don't consider them worth the effort.

Agree. a few years back I signed up for the $1 special and was billed a few hours later for an additional full month. Filed a protest with my credit card company and got a reversal about 2 weeks later.
