Please note that my current position as the Top Poster in the Porn Users Forum has in no way altered my vote.

Drooler (Disabled) Kudos to Wittyguy for bringing this up. It had been on mind. My answer is "Yes," but with the self-imposed condition that my posts won't be made just so that I can earn points toward raffle tickets.

In other words, I'd try to be a little more involved in the forum discussions, but I still wouldn't post if the discussions themselves didn't move me to contribute something.

The last thing the forum needs is a bunch of "junk" posts that are just materialistically motivated.

Denner (0) Not sure...
I'm not in this for the money - still this user has had some top winnings here - I keep winning and am a bit embarrased about it - I must be out of luck in love, then....-:)
I use my winning via Amazon - it would be great if I could spend it on new sites - but I guess there's too much trouble with money-winning across the Atlantic.

Anyway I'm still not sure: Still feel the main thing here is reviews and comments - and those two thing should be first in line with raffle-winnings.
The Forum is great too - but maybe not as importend in the never endning search - anyway - still not sure.
BTW: A good poll, Wittyguy. And by all means: Let's use the Forum in the raffle too.....It just will not affect my activities there...

messmer (Disabled) I use the forum because I have a question or comment or because I want to respond to someone else's post that catches my eye. If that should earn me a ticket, fine, but I would never do it for the ticket.

apoctom (0) While it is a positive incentive, I don't know if it is such a good idea. Some of the good limitations on the raffle include that reviews and comments are reviewed by the staff for quality before a ticket is awarded. Would that even be possible in the forums?

Monahan (0) I don't like the idea.

The Forum is intended to be an exchange of ideas and opinions. By rewarding people for posts in the forum, you will be encouraging a bunch of low interest posts on low interest subjects made solely to run up ticket totals while, at the same time, reducing the value of the forum.

atrapat (0) I wouldn't post more but it would be a good idea.

We may already get a ticket by writing 5 replies or giving 5 trust ratings but I've never felt fellow users abuse it to get that ticket. I'm guessing the forums were introduced after the badges system was in place; maybe the replies ticket could also include forum posts.

I like posting in a threaded message board format. I like the reviews and enjoy posting a review. Other times I would simply like to ask a question that is more general in nature.

The forums have an opportunity to be great exchange of knowledge.

Wittyguy (0) I thought I'd toss this out as a poll question since, I've been told, the PU staff has taken the idea under consideration for a while now. I'm sort of mixed on this one. In one way it rewards people who actively post and contribute to the site. While the original purpose of PU was for site reviews and comments I don't see any harm in expanding the "rewards program" to include others who may find the forum more interesting. In my view, the more participants here the better off the PU community is and forum offers a different place for people to give their input.

On the other hand, as one of the top forum posters, I don't want to see the forum get loaded up with junk either.

I like Atrapat's idea of including forum posts as "replies" for purposes of earning raffle tickets that way. Realistically, a reply doesn't really have to have any substance to it to count towards the raffle (this addresses Apoctom's issue about quality control - besides Khan does monitor the forum). I'm thinking this might be the way to go.

Wittyguy (0) REPLY TO #4 - Denner :

Apparently I am the anti-Denner. I'm proud to say that no one has won less money with more raffle tickets than me. Damn the statistics and full engines ahead.

p.s. My lack of success at the raffle isn't what motivated me (or would motivate me) to get forum posts counted towards the raffle.

Drooler (Disabled) REPLY TO #7 - Monahan :

Monahan, you may well be right about the incentive to post reducing the value of the forum.

On the other hand, I don't notice people replying to reviews and comments just to garnish their little ticket stub icon on the top right of the PU pages.

We could try it and just see. And there's always "peer pressure." If someone says something on a forum that just sounds like a quick, cheapie comment made with some Amazon shlock in mind, other users can always gently finger wag or respond with a little "ka-ching!" or something.

Now, will this make enough replies this week to get any points? Let me check ... ;-)

Nope!

But there is another reason why I think you're right. The raffle tickets are to encourage people to participate, but from what I see in the forums, there's no need to incentivize it. They're doing quite nicely without any dangling carrots involved.

BTW, the three top "money" winners right now are exotics4me, Denner, and SnowDude. They're all top PU members who strive for quality and have written volumes here. At least that's a good sign.

pat362 (0) No, because I post when I have something to add to the subject. Wait what am I saying...More Raffle tickest. Forget that last statement...Hell Yeah.
Actually I don't care either way. I'll still post when I feel like posting.

MargulisAZ (Suspended) Hhhmmm, reading your replies got me thinking some. I still think it would be a good idea to have the tickets, but perhaps just have the rewards set quite low so that you don't end up with a ton of crap posts. What I mean is, maybe only make the amount of tickets you can get 1 or 2, so that it's not something so large people will be motivated to waste time posting meaningless posts to get. An incentive, but not like a gold mine.

Hey, Wittyguy, I just realized something. We don't earn any raffle points for coming up with poll questions! What about that?

exotics4me (0) Maybe just blend them in with the current format we use on Raffle Tickets, like for example, each reply in the forum counts on your replies and each topic you start would be the same as posting a new comment. That way, it wouldn't really be adding that much for the staff to deal with or to program in and it would probably lead the members over to the forum more often. Speaking of...that college football thread, forgot all about it!

Wittyguy (0) REPLY TO #15 - Drooler :

I'm all for that one my man, all for it. I've noticed that we don't seem to be getting as many poll submissions from users any more, probably because most of the easy ones have already been done. I think it might be worth a carrot; meaning up to one raffle ticket for a poll idea. Don't know though, maybe the PU staff has a boat load of poll ideas but I sort of doubt it. You should send an email to the PU staff about that one unless Khan wants to post a reply here.

mbaya (Disabled) The forum is a lot of fun and a good way to carry on a discussion. However, if it earned points I think we could easily post irrelevant and unimportant points. Sometimes discussions go back and forth so many times that earning points would become too easy.

But I am sure I'll not post only because I can earn tickets if thread not interesting for me.
