I have tried to do all those positions that you see in videos in one session and found it to be kind of a distraction to love making. I think that having a director and editing makes the sex you see on video a little less than realistic.

I believe it can lead to bad sex. If you do what you see, the woman needs very little stimulation and seems to orgasm from doing, not receiving. Also the positions are those to show the female, not necessarily those that are the most comfortable or natural. In real sex, not porn, there really would not be much to see a lot of the time.

First I voted "To some extent yes", but then changed to "Not usually", because IMHO there is a BIG difference between "showing unrealistic sex" (about which there are no doubts) and "creating unrealistic expectations". Come on, are there that many people who believe into everything which is shown on TV, leave alone the Internet?

I went with "To some extent yes" only because of personal experiences and things I've heard talking to friends.
First anal beads. They make it look so easy in movies when they actually don't feel good at all going in.
Movies sometimes make it seem like a lot of girls can take unrealistically huge dicks with almost no problem... Yeah not that easy, takes quite the amount of training.
Just things like that.
And of course the scenarios. Who woulda thought that a guy and a girl could just study alone in a room, or sleep in the same bed with out anything happening.

I picked to some extent because many of todays movies are mostly gonzo, and those that aren't still have at their core a gonzo mentality. There is no kissing, forplay and many of the sexual positions being depicted are designed to be uncomfortable ie: upside down pile driving. Good luck trying to get your wife or gilrfiend off with that. Porn is suppose to be a fantsay. You enjoy it for that, but if you try to bring it into the real world well that is pretty much like watching Superman and then trying to leap off a tall building...Doomed to failure.

I picked no because whatever you see (and I assume we are talking hard core videos because pictures don't create unrealistic expectations) is so obviously phony and removed from our real life experiences. Has anyone ever had a girlfriend that kept positioning herself so that the camera could get the proper angle, or whose "lover" made constant efforts to keep her hair out of her face so the shot wouldn't be spoiled. Has anyone ever had a girlfriend who gave off such lusty moans and yelps? Well, maybe yes on the last one but if so, she was probably pretending. :-) So, NO!

you can't say its obviously fake because someone not use to sex (eg. a virgin or someone with little experience) may look at porn and think that these moves are practical and maybe even pleasurable (and may just think that what they did or plan to do is not "up to scratch" or good enough). only someone with adequately sexual experience, or the knowledge of how porn works would understand fully that many of these moves are not feasible or pleasurable (especially for the women)

Frankly the expectation issue for me is the silly notion that a guy can keep his rod hard for 30 minutes straight. (Now that I say that, maybe there are a lot of guys who can do that...but I sure ain't one of them.)

yes many don't realize that having too big of a dick is not beneficial in real life as tho its nice to look at and admire most girls in reality CANNOT handle a dick thats too big and hence leading to less pleasure for the guy as well

You are right, of course. I tend to forget about the inexperienced, it might possibly give them an unrealistic view of sex, so I'm changing my vote.
I'm over fifty, so all I see is the fakery and the painful gymnastics it must take at times to give us that unobstructed view. I've also seen a few behind the scenes videos on the Internet and on late night cable so I'm under no illusions when it comes to the porn industry. I suppose that's why I prefer pictures and soft core .. as a rule. I do subscribe to video sites on occasion, especially since more and more of them have HD which suits my new wide screen monitor just fine. :-)

I miss the porn from the 70's and 80's. Their idea of a sex scene was one that was plausible. That style was so powerful that it influenced most of the early gonzo stuff. Their was a time where gonzo still involved kissing, undressing foreplay and more or less normal sexual positions. Today's gonzo style is very different and in my opinion note very good. Worse it now influences regular types of scene. Wheter a studio like Wicked, or Vivid realises it. Their stuff is very much gonzo, but with more polish.

Guys / Gals I picked no,
My own opinion is that IF porn affects your real life sex, then I would have more regular sex and avoid the porn.
NOW... that said I say no because I do not believe that watching naked women have sex makes you want more from your mate.
Ok I'll step up here lol. I am Cybertoad and I do not have a 12inch dick LOL. So should I assume my partner is unhappy because I am a few inches shy of what she may think is norm in porn?
After 20 years I still get the same passion and same look I did when we first met during sex.
I have watched some form of porn umm I guess 20+ years and it didn't affect anything.
So why view it? Because I think it is natural to a point, the human nature is to procreate you take humans back 3000 year and we were humping everyone that moved. Women are built to look for a strong mate and men are attracted to the best healthiest mate too. Porn is in reality just voyeurism, even apes and other forms watch the others do it.
Society ( not religion ) has put that porn is a sin and trouble. Churches get a bad rap. But i'll stop before we get into a huge other discussion, bottom line anything can affect anyone. How many today are still affected by 911 yet still fly?
