Still Very Slow - Cust Service Reply

Well, as expected, received a generic disclaimer stating speeds are not their fault:

If you're experiencing slow download speeds from us but not from other sites, the problem lies in the network of our ISP. We are constantly collecting data to improve out network flow, but there's no simple solution as we have little control over how packets travel through the Internet.

Most other download questions are answered on our Video Download FAQ. If you're experiencing a problem not answer on our FAQ, we will have an engineer investigate it immediately.

In the meantime, please read our FAQ for answers to common download problems.

I am getting 400 kbps from other sites today.....only 30-80 kbps from Videobox...I have 8 MB connection....Sat. morning here and speed has gone from 80 to just 35 kbps - 4 hours to d/l a 20 min clip - PATHETIC !

So, UK speeds are TERRIBLE !!!!!

Tree Rodent (0) That's exactly what I found and pointed out in my review of Video Box. Clearly some people are having no problems at all with download speeds, but without a doubt some of us are finding very slow speeds. Some of the trite simplistic explanations they give are just rubbish, especially if you are used to downloading.

Tree Rodent (0) As an addition, I would like to say that customer service sounds totally lousy at Video Box. I think this should be taken into consideration when awarding marks. It's like a very big, very cheap supermarket. It's cheap simply because there is no customer service.

Absolutely - I just get standard rubbish back...like "is your modem switched on?"

I give up already.....at Saturday evening time, I'm now getting just 20 k per second - that's saying 8 1/2 hours to download a 25 minute scene of some 450 MB......it should be done is 10 minutes flat !


Well, they lose out, as I won't be renewing, as I had planned to, and I bet a lot more people in Europe/UK have the same problem, and also, vote with their feet.

Clearly they make millions from Americans and are 90% on BestPorn, so why would they care about a few Brits ?

I think they're having a laugh - since complaining and telling them I'm gonna trash them on the review sites, my speeds gone down to 2 kbps....gonna take 75 days to download a 25 minute scene.

They're a bunch of jokes.

But, as usual - I'll have the last laugh.

messmer (Disabled) If it's any consolation my speed in Canada has been up and down like a yo yo! And that's during one download. One moment I'm told I'll be done in five minutes, then next moment it's up to an hour .. plus, and back again. They must be juggling the speed like crazy because they have too many users on at the same time.

surferman (0) I wish I had checked this comment bit out before I had joined videobox. Both of the gripes, the cost in the Uk, and the download speeds are an issue with me. I find that download speeds during the day are fine, but in the evening and at weekends it is so slow it is just not worth trying to download. Videobox blame it on BT in the UK, but if I can download quickly from any other site, how can it be BT.
Similarly, the automatic exchange rate for UK customers applied by Videobox is to our disadvantage, and their advantage.
However, I will not be renewing, so they lose out long term. It is all very well offering a cheap product, but if I can't use the product, then it is a waste of time joining!
A very dissatisfied UK customer.
