DivBZero (Suspended) What a super poll, lets hope that some providers read the results (although I guess the good ones will and just confirm what they already know).

I'd like to know what processes the images go through before we get to see them, and I like to believe that the photographers use monitors with correctly set gamma when editing the picture sets.

Of course we should never lose sight of content, composition and the ability to make the heart race ....

Drooler (Disabled) Seems that a lot of sites put "Hi-Rez!" on their sites and expect the visitor to start salivating and click "Join." I never join a site unless the pixel dimensions are made clear, either by the site or by a good review.

And that's what's in the poll: pixel dimensions, NOT resolution. I've just come to accept common usage of the term "hi-res" being used to mean pixel dimensions.

It's great to see that savvy PU members are largely making a case for ">1600" or even higher.

So what is resolution? According to photo editing software, it is pixels per inch (aka dots per inch, or dpi). 72dpi, 300dpi, and even 1000dpi are among several image resolutions.

But life-like 72dpi images of Evelyn Lory by Tim Fox at 4300 pixel length (as found at MetArt) are absolutely, breathtakingly superb.

So actually the dimensions do matter more than the resolution anyway, from what I've seen.

Webmasters, please tell us how "hi" your "rez" is. If you don't, we might wonder why, and why we should join.

There are a lot of reviews on various sites that simply say "hi rez" and don't spell it out.

So, reviewers everywhere, please don't simply parrot this buzz term "hi rez" in your reviews and expect us to be satisfied. If you say it's "hi rez," then you know what you say and so you know what it means. Is it 1600px? 1024px? 4000px? So tell us exactly what you mean by it.

I think TBP requires a site to offer at least their more recent images in at least 1200px to qualify as "hi rez." Interesting when you look at the results of this poll.
