massive copyright violations?

I just surfed through some Latex Fetish lists in order to search for new interesting sites. There were many links to "sample pictures" from Adult-Empire.com with a lot of pictures I know from other sites but with deleted watermarks. They obviously claim it's their stuff. Massive copyright infringement? I am stunned.

pat362 (0) TBP has chosen to stop doing business with them so that should tell you everything you need to know. Not too mention that the most recent PU review emphasized the fact that they had illegal content on their site.

Seriously, who with a sane mind would subscribe to such a site and how can they even stay in business this long?

There was a time when I would probably have joined a site like this because I didn't know any better. I guess that still applies for anyone just making his or her first step on the net. The site is flashy and they appear to have a lot of content. Not too mention that not every review site is like TBP and PU. Just look at the porn inspector review for that site that was done last year. They gave the site a 3.8 out of 5 and they are still offering a link to the site. That's the beauty of PU and TBP. You may not always agree with the review but you can normally get enough info to know if it's worth joining.

Doesn't Adult Empire suffer from tons of lawsuits from the legal owners of the stolen galleries etc.?

My guess is that they're based overseas and depending on their exact location, filing a lawsuit is just dumping money down a black hole. Besides, all they have to do is change servers and reincorporate some place else and they're back in business the next day. Chasing down the bad guys can be a royal pain in the ass.

I believe that what normally happens is that they get a lawyer's letter telling them to remove the illegal content from their site or face legal consequences. All they have to do is remove it then they are out of trouble and they can always upload it again later on and then repeat the process when they get another letter. Most studios will not go the lawsuit route because there are some high legal cost involved in doing that. Just look at the content on most Tube Sites as proof. A lot of it is illegal and yet most of them are still in business.

The best thing we can do about all theswe types of site is talk about it so that they don't get new members. Sooner or later they will go out of business.

rearadmiral (0) I don't dispute what ergo says and I put a lot of trust in TBP / PU when they remove a site from their lists, but I just want to add that this Adult Empire that's been blacklisted isn't the same as the VOD site that goes by adultempire.com. The VOD site is a spin-off from the VOD site Adult DVD Empire. Both sites are an excellent source of VOD material and some downloads. I only mention this because I'd hate to think that a reputable site would lose business because they have name very similar to a disreputable site.

Yeah, it's not the VOD site I was talking about.

I knew that, and I suspect that most people would, but I hoped to avoid any confusion. I really wonder why Adust DVD Empire spun off a site with a name almost identical to crappy, fraudulent site. I'm guessing that someone didn't look around enough.
