graymane (Suspended) No ....what limited external storage I do have, I keep unplugged 'till I wanna get back into it.

Further, apart from backup, I discovered I don't really need them as much as I thought I would.
Also, my gut feeling tells me its not wise to keep them connected, anyway.

RustyJ (Suspended) No. Unfortunately they are not that handy. Wish I could somehow connect them to a hub that would power them all and also connect them from my desktop drawer ;)

Monahan (0) When I'm done for the session I log out of my computer and turn it off. When I boot up with an external hard drive attached, the computer searches not only the C: Drive for the OS, but also the external drive. That's the main reason I don't leave the external connected. It extends the boot up time by quite a bit.

jberryl69 (Disabled) This is a "it depends" answer, because my external on my computer is acting rather disruptive to normal operations, so it's best if I keep it in a corner.

On the other hand, my external attached to my TV stays attached until I need to load additional material.

Randyman (Disabled) I'm starting to leave mine connected. I used to disconnect it all the time but by doing that I fried one of my external drives. How you might ask? Well, just the action of plugging in the power cord and pulling it out again (to the drive itself) weakened the ground pin over time, it eventually fell off and fried my drive. Lost the entire DDF picture collection, FTV Girls picture collection and Twistys picture collection, not to mention tons of videos too.

KET924aab (0) Mine are connected most of the time, since I usually do a bit of downloading 4 or 5 times a week.

marcdc1 (0) My main rig is a laptop so I keep my entire collection on an external (I know performance suffers a little when I load up a new video, but that seems better than using up my internal storage).
