Marcus (0) I said 'not really sure yet'

I never played the raffle, and never really had any interest in playing, so in that respect it makes no difference.

But if it has an impact on people reading my reviews, replying to my comments etc, having discussions etc, then I guess ultimately it will as my interest will wane as it's obviously no fun writing reviews and having the feeling nobody's reading them.

Hopefully that won't happen though.

Capn (0) 'Not really sure yet.'

The level of activity seems to have dropped significantly & there is less to reply to or pass comment on.

I think it was a mistake to remove it without quickly replacing with another hook.

messmer (Disabled) I would say, no, it wasn't for the money. However, my winnings provoked a "loyalty" response where I left many email offers untouched and went to PU or TBP to subscribe through them instead.

Monahan (0) REPLY TO #3 - messmer :

I agree with Messmer. Whenever I became interested in joining a site, I always did so through PU/TBP rather than directly or via an email offer.

I intend to continue to do that despite the cessation of the drawings because I have found PU to be an invaluable resource. PU has saved me far more by moving me away from lousy sites.

KET924aab (0) I certainly will continue to contribute reviews, as I find the reviews of others very valuable in deciding whether or not to join a site. I think a smaller raffle prize (like maybe a free month membership at a porn site) would be a cool thing to have.

Drooler (Disabled) I was doing reviews and such well before the raffle thing got started. Haven't done a review a quite a while now, but the raffle ended just recently. In other words, the raffle was a "bonus" in the truest sense, meaning it wasn't an incentive. After all, you could do 2 reviews in a week and not win, or do none and make $100. It really was more a matter of luck than anything else.

So it was just nice "free stuff."

BTW, Wittyguy was doing the PU Awards before the raffle got started. Maybe we'll have another "ceremony" this coming holiday season? Hmmm? PLEASE!??

Tree Rodent (0) No - but take a look the number of recent reviews and activity. I rarely put in a review that wasn't knocked off the front page within 24 hours. My most recent one (which I only did because they ended the raffle) is still there. Activity has dropped off dramatically. Things are so bad I may do another.

jberryl69 (Disabled) Here's what I think - I did some statistical analysis of how many people were playing the $200 Tuesday lotto and in my mind, it wasn't a lot of people - most of the contributing regulars but not really an over abundance of participation - and what I mean by that is, where people actually earned tickets. I cannot imagine someone signing up but not earning tickets where it would have any effect on whether they came to PU or not.

That said, I think Messmer's comment was well considered and I'll agree with it also.

For the record, I answered #2. But if we don't get some more interesting threads going .....

rearadmiral (0) Not that this is necessarily related, but I feel bad that I haven't been contributing much lately and that just happened to coincide with the end of $200 Tuesdays. I've undertaken a massive project to rebuild my porn collection and delete low res files and delete stuff I'll never watch. I'm also joining sites that I've been to recently just to download HD versions of everything I want so the bottom line is that with noting new to contribute I'm not writing reviews. But it has nothing to do with the end of the raffle.

I agree that there seems to be a significant drop in activity. I hope that's only temporary.

pat362 (0) The money was always a bonus so that's not the main reason why I do so few reviews these days. The sad truth is that I'm finding less and less of the kind of porn I'd like to see getting made so I keep going back to the same sites that I have already reviewed.

So do I, but the fact that it has worked out that way, only goes to prove that the raffle idea did work, & still did until it was totally pulled.

exotics4me (0) In that same boat as Drooler. I don't think the raffle started until 4-5 months or more after my first review. My own slowdown in contributions is more because I'm at the point of doing re-re-re-re-reviews of sites. I had checked it yesterday, but don't remember the exact number. It shows how my own contributions had been falling way off before the raffle ended.
Last 18 months, 18 reviews, 1 review per month average.
My first 18 months, 140+ reviews, 8 reviews per month.
I enjoyed the raffle and spending the money on things I normally wouldn't buy, but it never was a dealbreaker or maker for me.

graymane (Suspended) Money had nothing to do with my participating in contributing to anything. In fact, I concur completely with PU's action on the matter.
Further, they still have my lone $50 I was awarded in PU's coffers. I never expected to use it.

otoh (0) I'd say other. I'll still add reviews, and chime in when I see something particularly relevant; but probably less likely to comment on as many polls/reviews etc. As Capn surmised, I think the raffle did increase participation, as it was designed to.

I didn't mention it in my last post because I hope the trend is going to change but I'm finding that even my old faithful sites are making
less and less the kind of porn that I want to watch so even I may one day get to a point where I won't have any kind of porn that I want to see.

Cybertoad (Disabled) REPLY TO #2 - Capn :

I am going to agree with Capn, Was quick and then just stalled sorta.

I love all the staff at TBP and PU but in all my years it has been rare to see anyone take a gamble in my opinion like I saw happen. Losing 200 Tuesdays meant little to many of us and was fun. But as I put in the forum I can see it has affected involvement and attendance.

I am going to say it and will probably get beat down for it. But If I go to a doctor they are good at what they do, they are smart and spent four years and then interned another four. Yet most could do not even know how to check the oil in their car, or balance a checkbook, and would not even know where to start to run a business.

Just my own opinion and I love you guys, but there is/was a slip that was not seen at the time and in my opinion should have been and was missed the fact this poll question is being asked says allot.
Everyone is supportive myself included, but the plan should have been in place before doing anything so it flowed naturally.

I do not think 200 Tuesdays affects the site being gone, I think leaving questions open is not good for any new comers. Especially since it is affecting the use of the site.

Like I said love all you guys, but concerned !

Ditto, Cap'n. I haven't subscribed to a new site in months because I simply can't find one that would suit my taste. Most of my former regulars have become "ho-hum!"

What's the old expression. And Alexander wept because there were no more worlds to conquer. I'm starting to weep because there is almost no more porn to be found and the one that I would love to find is no longer in circulation.

Well put Cybertoad, I'm agreeing with you 100 per cent, and I am trying to work out the TBP/PU reasoning.

I could be right in they were discussing closing PU, decided against, but had to do something quickly to cut costs. There was nothing in place to replace the raffle, and no time to think of a plan on what to do with PU, so now they have been working out what to do to with it. I think PU may become a very unimportant and unsupported wing of the organisation, with TBP and new sites being the main earners. I think it will probably close eventually.

tangub (0) I voted other, I've not been contributing much these last few weeks but it was nothing to do with the raffle ending, it just happened to coincide with me settling back down in to married life again. After a long wait my Filipino wife finally got her UK visa approved and the end of the raffle just happened to coincide with me returning to the UK with my wife after a short vacation in The Philippines.

At the moment I don't have the time for porn let alone the energy; I've not even had a subscription since my last review of Melina at the end of April and this is probably the longest period I've gone without a porn subscription since I spent a month in hospital back in 2006. I have to admit I've not even missed the porn, I'd almost forgotten how much more fulfilling life is when you are sharing it with a woman day to day so I guess you won't be seeing anything much in the way of new reviews from me anytime soon. I do still drop by as a lurker when I can find a spare few minutes just to see what's going on.

Yeah right - now my S.O. is a dear and without her life would not be the same, but..but...but...give it 20 years. 20 years of being told half of what you do, you're doing it wrong. 20 years of being asked by a non driver, "didn't you see that car, lorry, cyclist?" (yes I saw it) "because you nearly hit it." 20 years of being a clumsy idiot when I bump into something, but when she bumps into something, it's the layout of the place that's wrong. 20 years of being a clumsy idiot when I drop something but when she drops something, accidents will happen. 20 years of being told "you're going deaf" if I don't hear what she just said, but being told I'm not speaking clearly when she can't hear what I just said. Just saying...in fact forget 20 years, I'm giving you six months (if you're lucky, of bliss). Then welcome back to porn.

The forum has had a handful of posts in a few week.
And in a tad over a week only 4 reviews.
I offered assistance, but I think like you said their focus is keeping whats left afloat at TCB. I do not blame them for how it came down, but late last year you could see the dynamics being affected here.
I just feel if I saw if why didn't others and maybe they did ???
I would not have commented at all but twice over a few months I offered to help " free". But again TCB must be the focus.
So rather then try and force help where its not wanted I will take some time and do some other stuff for awhile. Check back in awhile and see if the boat is still floating, lol cause kinda obvious my helps not wanted. Its cool ! The whole horse to water thing.

RustyJ (Suspended) I guess I wasn't writing that many reviews lately anyway. I think the raffle going away might cut down my not so usefull posts down some. No more posting the fifth comment to qualify for the raffle when you already have four.

So in a sense I'm sure it will generally reduce the chatter but not the things we really want to say.
